@  Robowang : (24 April 2017 - 11:53 AM)

Menasor's problem is that his crotch is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high. I couldn't care less about those other issues. If your dong is a chestburster, something ain't right.

@  BlackMax : (24 April 2017 - 11:40 AM)

Seems like all the combiners have an issue like that, the legs can never be completely straight in combined mode, the finished big bot is always looming eerily or hip-thrusting.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (24 April 2017 - 11:39 AM)

I doubt having an integrated trailer would have swayed me into buying CW Motormaster. But what definitely put me off were Internet reports of awful hip ratcheting.

@  BlackMax : (24 April 2017 - 11:36 AM)

I might also mention that ~not~ being a big truck has worked for the Internet pretty well.

@  unluckiness : (24 April 2017 - 11:32 AM)

I moaned about Motormaster because his combiner mode was awful

@  Rycochet : (24 April 2017 - 11:31 AM)

People moaned about the choices made during Combiner wars.that meant characters like Motormaster/Menasor weren't G1G1G1.

@  BlackMax : (24 April 2017 - 11:23 AM)

He could always be a very small red truck.

@  TheMightyMol... : (24 April 2017 - 10:59 AM)

But how will you know it's Optimus Prime if he's not a big red truck?

@  Broadside : (24 April 2017 - 10:20 AM)

Personally, I'm not a fan of the extreme-accuracy trend. The character choices are kind of sure-fine-whatever, but outside of stuff like Alpha Trion that's a huge divergence from the source material, there doesn't feel like there's much imagination in the designs any more.

@  Pennpenn : (24 April 2017 - 05:03 AM)

Because you might as well start as you mean to go on?

@  Nevermore : (24 April 2017 - 04:16 AM)

@  Noideaforaname : (24 April 2017 - 12:37 AM)

The Generations lineup should be decided by hitting Random Page on the wiki. "Next one is... Crankstart." 'Alright, I love the Scavengers!' "No, no, CrankSTART. The repaint of a repaint of a repaint of a Scout version of a Deluxe based on a background vehicle from the Live Action film." 'Oh'

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 11:31 PM)

After we get a couple of Pretenders. And a Titans Return Star Saber (not a difficult retool from Galvatron).

@  BlackMax : (23 April 2017 - 10:21 PM)

I really do like all the attention to the 80s toys, being from that era myself. However, I would be really happy if (let's say post Trypticon) the Generations line turns to the 2001 RiD line, Beast Wars stuff, and moves forwarda bit.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (23 April 2017 - 08:19 PM)

I'm curious because I'm not an 80s kid nor have I ever held an actual 80s toy in my hands, but I'm pretty sure a mathematically significant portion of 80s kids here do have a like for cartoon accuracy.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (23 April 2017 - 08:15 PM)

How much of this community favors versus not favors the current Hasbro design team's general trend of accuracy to classic 1980s toys and lack of attention to any other era of Transformers?

Can anyone tell me why the Shoutbox has a notification (a "1") when I login sometimes? I scroll through and don't see anything addressed to me. What does it mean?

@  ▲ndrusi : (23 April 2017 - 01:33 PM)

I miss the 2000s when my local stores got new toys more than once a year.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 01:09 PM)

I mean, it might be hard to not know about something before release at all, but the degree of familiarity that you described is only attainable if you intentionally seek things out.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 12:59 PM)

That's at least partially your own fault. The "in motion" part sounds like you even watched videos, which require conscious effort, unlike pictures that might be hard to even avoid.

@  Bass X0 : (23 April 2017 - 12:22 PM)

I miss the 80s where the first time I ever saw Transformers toys was on the toy shelves and hadn't already saw the toy from every angle and in motion several months beforehand. It made seeing a toy in the store something very special to me that I can't recapture now.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

I could see Generations becoming a TRU exclusive line, now that I think about it.

@  Xellos : (23 April 2017 - 12:14 PM)

Also, Generations weathered AOE, and the TLK line seems to be short as well, so I think we'll still be seeing some room for Generations.

@  TheMightyMol... : (23 April 2017 - 12:11 PM)

Titans aren't really wide-released anyway. About the only brick-and-mortar chain to reliably carry them is Toys R Us.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (23 April 2017 - 12:08 PM)

Isn't Trypticon still a long way from now?

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

They wouldn't let a big-ticket item like that get cancelled.

@  Evac : (23 April 2017 - 11:57 AM)

Counter argument: They still haven't released Trypticon.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:25 AM)

But yeah, not having any big-name media means it's the most likely, although the premiere series packaging might convince retailers to dedicate more shelf space, kinda like SW Black.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 09:24 AM)

I'd expect Generations to be the sacrificial lamb since they can't possibly stock RID any less.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:06 AM)

I'm thinking the subline that doesn't have a movie or TV show will be the one on the cutting board.

@  RichardT1977 : (23 April 2017 - 09:05 AM)

Back to TF toys: the question is whether or not retailers will be willing to commit the peg/shelf space for three sublines. And which one will be sidelined if space is at a premium.

@  unluckiness : (23 April 2017 - 06:28 AM)

No idea.

This week's list is 4 issues of New 52 from DC and 3 issues of misc. from Marvel, oh and 2 trade paperbacks I'll get into later when I've read them.

Justice League: Dark #4.

we continue to get the gang together... - honestly I'm torn here. I know that this is written as an 'introduction' for the new readers DC is hoping N52 will bring in... but this is dragging on now. On the flip side, as somebody who KNOWS these characters, I like the pace the inter-character stuff is going... but the two story ideas are drastically opposed to each other.

as a NEW TEAM BOOK, you want there to be a TEAM ...an establishing line up shot... something

and it just hasn't happened yet.

I'm in for 2 more issues but Deadman and Zatana can't keep me interested on their own.

5.5/10

DEMON KNIGHTS #1-3.

YES YES LORD ON HIGH YES. 11/5

..ooh perhaps I should explain that icon-fire.gif

I was afraid of and for this book. Of- because if it was bad it would have poisoned me on DC likely for the rest of my life. and For- because Like Jason Blood I am cursed, any book I add to my pull list gets an immediate increase in its likelihood of cancellation... and I did not want that to happen. icon-hotrod.gif Fortunately this book is good enough to fight off my curse and then some.
There are a lot of people here at allspark that I've come to respect over the last decade, but even amongst them there are only a few who have come to know me so well that they can recommend something my way, and know exactly how to present it to best convince me.

last time DarkDestroyer got me to pick up new Mutants by just saying "BLINK -NEW MUTANTS#34" in this case it was my long time friend Mphage and an in-depth im discussion and some well thought out art examples.
I haven't eaten one of these in centuries -Vandal Savage...

and my gosh does this win where JLD fails... this is a TEAM book before the characters even realize it. Thanks man. This book has everything I like and nothing I don't...

okay exploding newborn baby.... I can go either way on >_> but the Male characters are MANLY MEN like i like and the WOMEN..oh heavens the women...Destron's fetishes lain bare.

Giant SNEWSNEW women, Manipulative smart raven haired temptresses...

and then there's Shining knight who I hope to the gods and mods of PNR is a legal aged female or I'm going to need to have a long talk with a psychologist

oh and It has Etrigan, did I for get to say that? Help me out here Fluttershy

New Mutants # 35.
This issue was a fast read, and yes it comes out fairly early in this issue that this is indeed 616 Blink and not the much better Blink from AoA/Exiles icon-screamer.gif -but nevermind that, I'm in and I'm hooked... again though, like JLD - I might not be the target audience for this book, unlike it however I'm still fully invested -its just that I don't like being SOooo ahead of the characters plot wise. The team works well together and Blink's addition doesn't seem to screw up the mix -iykwim. I also liked the realism that this issue amounts to a 'loss' for the team... sure the Avengers can ruin real-estate and not loose any lives with power ranger like regularity... but these guys, 8 people with slight to maybe a leg lost in the injuries list out of maybe a thousand - and yeah they take it as a failure.

Decent people make Decent Characters.
4/5 icon-screamer.gif any Blink is better then no Blink

THE DEFENDERS #2

Doctor Strange is my favorite guy ever. This one needs you to read it guys, so I wont say much, but yeah. Still really like'n Ironfist, and Red She-hulk gets some of the best development... sadly Surfer and Namor take a bit of a back seat, but then again we don't want this to be an extreme mini-series. lol

5/5

The Mighty Thor #9

no bold for this one, This arch needs to get moving... I've go no interest in Tanerous- the Nord Queen angle ... LOKI I like, he's still working for me -maybe because he's not fooled by the trick that's been played on EVERYONE ELSE... I am interested in Bill and Kelda's story continuing ..but it just seems to be dragging its heels. For sure not on the level Journey is right now.

4/10

Now I also picked up the first 2 volumes of the tpbs of Avengers Academy. I wonder how well this team comes togther? I'll let you know what I think of Volume 1 shortly... 2 to follow obviously.

Action Comics #5 - so they managed to ruin the STAS Brainiac origin, threw time travel in there for *&(%*%'s sake, and let's not forget this is supposed to be all the result of Barry doing something in the past because he was inexperienced at time travel. :/

Detective Comics - So, yeah... Batman is the 1%. We see 1 page of Penguin... more or less inconsistent with the Penguin mini going on now (which is pretty good, mind you), and then a backup on Catwoman, who has her own GD series (but it's not called Batman comics, so whatevs.).
(note see: http://www.dorkly.co...atman-is-the-1)
This really bugs me. DC clearly wrote this as a metaphor for the 99% movement (which, big surprise, has petered out with competing news coverage and police arresting people), and they identify with big business. Which is kind of hilarious, as the Dark Knight Returns seems to have a bit of "99%ers" in it as baddies as well.

Funny story - I read an old Captain Marvel comic... featuring him teaching sharing to rich guys trapped on an island (then going on to beat up "Japanese"... ugh...) - seems like Batman has an unlimited supply of goods, and what does he do? He beats up men in masks in the most inefficient way possible. Made all the more obvious by the Penguin mini, where he sides w/ Penguin's fiance that he's "going about it the wrong way" by kidnapping her to talk to her. Rather than, you know, telling her to google "copperpot" on her own.

X Club #2 - psychic starfish made this very enjoyable, even if I can hardly tell what's going on. This is probably gonna stand or fall on the final issue, but a marked improvement since issue 1.

Xmen 23 - Jubes meets vampires, sentinel story is over. Eh. At least we're out of u-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan-stan.

Thunderbolts - Luke Cage doesn't have his own series for a reason. Oh, and suits come to talk to the remaining thunderbolts picking up rubble. And yet, if we had a few panels of paint drying it might have been exciting. Ghost's back to the future thing was cool, but that was like 1 page. :/

Uncanny Xmen 4 - solid 1-shot. Although I get the impression the bulk of it takes place "weeks" after the first 3 part arc. Still, perfectly fine - especially if Storm's gonna be off wasting time w/ Collossus in X-men for their next arc.

Hulk - so... uh... Machine Man's on the team for some reason, and Betty's going split personality. LMD girl is still blurring the line between person and machine. And zero/one joins "x-club's evil corperation" and iHulk's Bruce Banner in the "I make monsters for cannon fodder" game this month. :/

Defender 2 - The "ads" at the bottom of the pages are, I think, more interesting than the story. When the baddies captured the good guys off camera, rather than "we need toget Danny help - we surrender", it is pretty bad. Anyone can hold She-hulk's sword is pretty bad. The baddie giving Namor a helmet of poluted water was absurdly "in the know" (although Avengers Academy still wins/loses for having the most "how the hell does homeless sentinel boy know about aliens? And how does reprogrammed sentinel know? And then how does everyone else know everyone else in this stupid book?")

X-Sanction 2 - Red Hulk shows up randomly. Cable fights virus annoyingly. Didn't he lose that a while ago? And, ultimately, what's wrong with this story - when somebody tells him "the avengers kill hope", he goes back in time to ask them "why you want kill hope?". :/

Wolverine - Alpha + Omega - While I could see this happening, it's VERY creepy. "Kid Omega plays with Wolverine + gives him bad dreams for fun" might be fun, even if emotionally scarring. Kid Omega knocks out Armor and Logan and locks them up while making them play house-of-m-wannabe? CREEPY. Now this character was creepy during his first run, but since he's been back he really has been more "kiddy" than "creepy". W+TX-Men's Kid Omega is "he's gonna turn it around and be anti-heroish soon.", not that Hellion ever pulls it together, mind you. But A+O's Kid Omega is "He's gonna rape you with wolverine's body because he's a sicko" creepy. Yeah, yeah, self-rationalization as you drag the girl you drugged off to the gym locker room (someone's been watching too much japanese porn ... or too much anime jokingly referencing japanese porn...) is pretty damned creepy.

Also, did that one hallway have like a dozen generics in there? WTF?

Avengers (delayed) annual - crap on a crap stick. This is 1 of 3 "evil avengers" teams Bendis has wrote in the past 2 years, and it's the halfassedest of the 3. And so epically pointless. Wonderman's "civil war" moment? Avengers have done bad things and need to be held accountable. In court. Or something. Why? Because they've done lots of bad that, although clearly overwhelmed by the saving the world lots of times, etc.

Best so far this week: Punisher, hands down.

okay I've read the first two volumes of Avengers Academy now.

I think I've found the 2nd series I'm going to own all of. This is how comics should be written.

Again, I need to be willing to take more chances at my comic shop... I'll be buying back issues next week that's for sure.

I Adore these characters ... even Hank, who to this point has only ever been good as a Zombie (imo) ...though I will give points to the pimphanded marvel legends toy.

and Sweet Jesus Taskmaster's in this. Now all I need is an issue with Darkhawk and BAM... on the bookshelf next to Hitchhicker's guide and Tolkien.

so I started reading again ... sure I've been doing it since the last time this thread popped up.. but a lot of the in between weeks were

"and so I'm still on the fence about dropping my new52 books..." XD except for Demon Knights that jive is AWESOME! ...

and "catching up with avengers Academy...has been a joy I haven't experienced since I went and mass read Exiles"

what snapped me out of my funk of "meh.. why post"

NEW Mutants/ Journey into Mystery: Exiled

O_O okay so I jumped to the wrong conclusion, thinking that the sub-title was about Blink. >_>

BUT GODS DAMN was that a great read. and sweetest of all... The defenders are the next cross over

icon-silverbolt.gif I think I jumped the gun with my previous Fluttersquee

I also added MTMTE and RID to my pull list... This last Ratchet story, wow.

If anyone isn't reading these two tf books... you are not using your eyes right.

also picked up the Spider-Island hardback today, haven't started it yet.. going to wait and see what tomorrow has in store for me ...

if its 35 Celsius ... I will be spider-islanding with a fan and a LARGE Icetea until sundown.

I hear it is a great story - and it'll be practically the first time I've jumped back into the spider-books this millennium.

<_^ I think I read one issue around the time anti-venom showed up... and the one before that... hmm, was post-clone/pre-spider-totem

here's hoping. I'm honestly tired of Spider-man being a 'really good team-up' in whatever other book I'm reading.

also I think I may Drop Justice league dark... despite my horrible mancruch on Constantine, and my need to justify my Zatanna Shelf by actually owning a comic or two with her in'em LOL

I recently gotten into Avengers Academy and Exiles. Never really bothered with them until recently. Mary Jane Watson being a lesbian in an alternate universe was an eyebrow raiser. I didn't like her short hair though. And Mariko was a fun character too, never really warmed to any previous incarnation of her. I did quite like the story were X-Force had to help the evil Tony Stark to take over the world. And whats with Morph wanting sex all the time from the girls?

Well it's a change from AoA Morph chasing Quicksilvers tail all the time icon-fire.gif Really Exiles will always be one of my favorite series. It loses some luster after they reveal the real deal behind the Timebroker. And once they hit the Alternate realities we've seen before it really doesn't handle them well. But all the same AoA Blink is one of my favorite characters even if she wasn't really characterized like she is in Exiles during the AoA.

Ah man when... I hated who died to bring her back in. Next few storylines has quite a few character switches too. I think the best team lineups were between issue 3 and 22.
