@  Nevermore : (12 December 2019 - 07:45 PM)

Morten Harket of A-ha might have aged 35 years on the outside, but his voice is still pretty much the same as it was in 1984. That's some great training and exercise for you.

@  wonko the sane? : (12 December 2019 - 06:59 PM)

Depends entirely on how badly you cooked them. What?

@  TheMightyMol... : (12 December 2019 - 05:33 PM)

Can it raise the dead?

@  RichardT1977 : (12 December 2019 - 05:33 PM)

Cheddar can do just about anything.

@  RichardT1977 : (12 December 2019 - 05:32 PM)

Cream cheese has to be on a bagel or crackers.

@  RichardT1977 : (12 December 2019 - 05:31 PM)

(for example: I like Swiss cheese on sandwiches, but find it merely tolerable by itself)

@  RichardT1977 : (12 December 2019 - 05:30 PM)

I mean are you eating it by itself? With crackers? On a sandwich?

@  TheMightyMol... : (12 December 2019 - 04:48 PM)

I would ask, but I'd rather not know.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (12 December 2019 - 03:38 PM)

With my mouth, usually.

@  RichardT1977 : (12 December 2019 - 08:48 AM)

Depends on how you're eating it.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (12 December 2019 - 01:40 AM)

Havarti, without a doubt.

@  Greebtron : (12 December 2019 - 01:28 AM)

Not Don, thanks. I'd like a writer who actually cares enough to do the job properly

@  Benbot : (11 December 2019 - 09:34 PM)

What's your favorite cheese? I'm not sure, but it's hard to beat muenster.

@  Maximus Ambus : (11 December 2019 - 05:10 PM)

Man I wish IDW could do a season 2.5 with a few writers like Michael Charles Hill or Donald F Glut or Paul Davids involved.

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 December 2019 - 04:33 PM)

They were looking for Skids, but the animators forgot he existed again.

@  Maximus Ambus : (11 December 2019 - 02:58 PM)

He regrouped with Omega Supreme, the Dinobots, Skyfire and the Protectobots.

@  Benbot : (11 December 2019 - 08:20 AM)

Did he get infected with the rest of the Autobots or did he smartly remain off-planet?

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 December 2019 - 05:38 AM)

He really just went to the beach for a couple of days, then called it in. Who's gonna follow up on it?

@  Maximus Ambus : (11 December 2019 - 05:05 AM)

Anyone really believe Cosmos searched far enough for more ingredient for Corrostop?

@  Nevermore : (11 December 2019 - 03:48 AM)

Oh, we are pretty good at "forgetting" about that. Insisting on sending people home on their overtime, THEN suddenly rushing to do the "backlog" stuff when it's really overdue.

@  wonko the sane? : (10 December 2019 - 05:43 PM)

I've yet to find an organization which didn't have a backlog of "stuff" that needs to be done, but isn't important enough to put on the schedule proper.

@  TM2-Megatron : (10 December 2019 - 05:01 PM)

I'm sure most good/bad (depending on your POV) bosses would be able to find something for the worker to do, in most cases, even if it's spending 8 hours pretending to push a broom around

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (10 December 2019 - 04:39 PM)

Still better than American jobs. x.x;

@  NotVeryKnightly : (10 December 2019 - 11:10 AM)

I'm pretty sure you've already mentioned this before. Especially that last one.

@  Nevermore : (10 December 2019 - 11:05 AM)

That can be fun if you're strong-willed enough. "Hey, you want to go home? Overtime reduction, there's nothing to do..." - "Nah, not today. I want to work."

@  Nevermore : (10 December 2019 - 11:04 AM)

This applies to the field of work as well. Meaning, your boss orders you to show up for a full shift, you show up on time and are absolutely willing to work, and then your boss realizes he has no work for you, your boss has to pay you for a full shift even if you don't work at all.

@  Nevermore : (10 December 2019 - 11:03 AM)

Fun fact: German law has a concept named "default in acceptance", which postulates that if there is a "service for payment" contract, the party that should provide the service correctly offers their due service, and the party that should pay fails to accept the service within due time, the second party still has to pay the first party even if there was no service delivered.

@  wonko the sane? : (08 December 2019 - 10:54 PM)

If it's seasonal affective disorder, check with your doc about vitamin D supplements.

@  Maximus Ambus : (08 December 2019 - 12:46 PM)

That's what I was thinking too, It's the christmas rush and if that's not stressful enough the cold weather can also impact mental health.

@  wonko the sane? : (08 December 2019 - 12:41 PM)

Might be a stupid question given the comment, BUT: have you done anything outside the ordinary lately? Might just be a stress reaction.

@  Maximus Ambus : (08 December 2019 - 12:29 PM)

I've experienced sleep paralysis with ghostly images and similar things in the past and can snap out of it through moving my fingers. I've definitely hallucinated before and members of both sides of the family have had similar experience, some suffered forms of mental instability in two cases schizophrenia.

@  wonko the sane? : (08 December 2019 - 10:47 AM)

So... either a hallucination or night terrors. Are you prone to this kind of thing?

@  Maximus Ambus : (07 December 2019 - 11:55 PM)

It kept repeating until I sat up.

@  Maximus Ambus : (07 December 2019 - 11:54 PM)

I've been up since three and when sheepish I was hallucinating something knocking twice against my bedroom door.

@  TheMightyMol... : (07 December 2019 - 06:58 PM)

Then repaint Apeface and Snapdragon as Transmetal Optimus Primal and Megatron. It's crazy enough to work.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (07 December 2019 - 05:32 PM)

Moral imperative.

@  Nevermore : (07 December 2019 - 05:13 PM)

Wishful thinking, rumor or leak?

@  Maximus Ambus : (07 December 2019 - 04:48 PM)

Snapdragon for Earthrise.

@  TM2-Megatron : (04 December 2019 - 10:22 PM)

Still not the weirdest thing a Nic Cage character has done in a film

@  TheMightyMol... : (04 December 2019 - 04:00 PM)

Couldn't be worse than him pissing fire as Ghost Rider.

@  Rycochet : (04 December 2019 - 03:38 PM)

The Tim Burton Superman Movie is the DC movie we deserve. It would have Nic Cage in a technosuit punching polarbears.

@  Paladin : (04 December 2019 - 02:59 PM)

Wonder Woman was great. Shazam was amazing. Aquaman... exists.

@  RichardT1977 : (04 December 2019 - 01:54 PM)

TBF, Aquaman and Shazam! were pretty good.

@  TheMightyMol... : (04 December 2019 - 01:00 PM)

Not a difficult feat.

@  Benbot : (04 December 2019 - 11:50 AM)

You just put more effort into telling a compelling story than all of WB's execs.

@  Cybersnark : (04 December 2019 - 11:41 AM)

Cue the flashback to Jonathan, reassuring a terrified child: "What you are is never as important as who you are." Cue Superman's response to Brainiac: "I already know who I am."*John Williams fanfare plays*

@  Cybersnark : (04 December 2019 - 11:38 AM)

I don't think we even really need to see Krypton. I'd start with Clark growing up in Kansas, thinking he's normal, and follow him through the development of his powers. There've been enough alternate takes on Krypton that it could actually work as a mystery; is this the pre-Crisis utopia, the sterile science world, or the relic of a fallen empire? Brainiac was there, and he tempts Clark with the knowledge of what he really is.

@  Otaku : (04 December 2019 - 11:12 AM)

First, a Krypton film, ending with baby Kal-El being found on Earth.  Then Supe's early career film, establishing his values... and if Jonothan Kent needs to die, it happens because of something like a heart attack while Clark is savnig folks on the other side of the world.  After we know Clark minimizes property damage and never kills, have Zod & Company show up and force him to make tough choices.

@  Otaku : (04 December 2019 - 11:07 AM)

Man of Steel seems like someone came up with a Superman trilogy and then the execs said "We've got to catch up to Marvel, make it one film!".  I don't mean that based on the film's actual pacing, but because various story beats make more sense to me if they weren't all squished together.

@  Cybersnark : (03 December 2019 - 07:44 PM)

I've been wanting to write a Superman movie trilogy for years; "Man of Steel" (featuring a Terminator-like Brainiac) was going to be first, with "Last Son of Krypton" (featuring the Eradicator) as the sequel and "Man of Tomorrow" (in which Luthor makes his face-heel turn) as the conclusion. Thanks to Snyder I have to re-arrange my titles.

Isn't the 'pot leaf' (lmao!) a symbol of royalty or something? I didn't play SONIC THE HEDGEHOG or whatever the game so I don't know what the design is for but I remember Scourge wearing the leaf as a crown during hedgehog havoc (Amy, Rob, Silver, Metal, Rosy etc free for all when Scourge used anarchy beryls). I assumed it was an established authority/king symbol. I don't recall if King Shadow or King Sonic wore one in 30 years later.

Nope, just bad design. Like every other thing in Sonic 2006.

Not QUITE everything. Robotnik's Chaos Emerald Tracker glasses are hugging AWESOME.

Aw man, and I loved his covers on She-Hulk.

Honestly, if you don't know how to draw characters like Sonic, then just don't accept the offer. Beats getting paid to trace. Leave that crap to Greg Land.

Got Sonic #236 today.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
There's a main story, and a backup.

Mainstory has the Freedom Fighters separating into two teams. Rotor leads one while Sonic leads the other.

Sonic's team is Team Fighters. Consists of him, Amy, and Tails.

They stop the invasion of Furville, and we learn half of Mobians are capable of being roboticized, and half are immune.

Backup focuses on Rotor's team, Team Freedom.

Consists of himself, Big, Cream, Cheese, and a rebuilt Heavy and Bomb.

Heavy and Bomb are the originals' personality cores in new bodies based on the games/the new models Eggman used.

I love it how Amy Rose isn't afraid to slap Sonic around. I know she's no longer lovesick when he's around anymore but it's still great to see. Team Fighters doesn't sound like a cool name. Great that the T-pup is in action. Who's that other guy from Furville? I'm not sure what kind of animal he is.

Rotor's back, nice, but I'm still not liking the suit. It's awesome that Heavy and Bomb are back in action. Yay for AI's! Big is a surprise and Cream too, all people. I'm glad that Deadly Cuddles is finally being used. Still waiting for Naugus to show how good he can be, if he will. The people ARE under his protection after all. Hey, where's Geoffrey?

Despite the cool stuff, felt like an in between issue. Gimme more!

It's two or three weeks behind but...

Dang it, I only got my copy of Mega Man 12 from the store yesterday and I lent to a friend so I can't properly review it right now. From what I can remember though...

I LOVED the beginning with the Light bots in action! Time Man doing his thing (my 11 year old nephew asked if he was a girl because of his colors and I told him Decepticons were also violet purple, lol). Fire Man fought fire with fire!!! He dispersed the mecha dragon's flames with his own? Can he do that?

I wasn't sure but was all of Elec Man's lower legs burned off? It was always obscured. Was it something Archie couldn't print so it had to be inferred? It LOOKED like he only had stumps. Dang, good job soldier. Awesome that Fire Man was the one who lead the way to his rescue; too bad we didn't get to see his leadership skills.

The Items were awesome but two item 2's? Only item 1 could be used multiple times for the impossible jump as a stairway. Haha, would have been hilarious if one of the Light Bot grabbed hold of item 3 since it's trademark is to bounce around until it touches a wall. That wouldn't be canon tho. And why couldn't any of the Light bots create the items? Is it only Mega Man who's capable of manifesting the items?

I hope Time and Oil Man aren't paired up together again. They were both riding with Guts Man. Just because they were active together, doesn't mean they have to hang out. This is unless the other six treat them differently, like second class bots cuz they're not quite in their generation, in which case, there's a story there. Oil Man was already bantering with Ice Man and working with Fire Man though. I'd like to see Time Man hang out with Elec Man more too, both being snooty snobbish guys, lmao!

On the boss run, the camera bots from the walls were missed. I imagine they would have left Time Man there, slowing them as much as he can to let the others through. Very cool to have the Light Bots deal with them. Though it kinda made sense to use Bomb Man to help Mega Man with the Crash signal device whatevers, I kinda wished it was another guy (cuz Bomb's not quite a fave). Very apt to call that place a maze. That boss battle was a puzzle for sure!

Metal Blades! Awesome to have them mentioned as the universal weapon. Would have been nice to show Quick Boomerang too since Quick Man was a huge focus in the past issues. I would have been happier if Bubble Lead took out the hologram like in the game. Mega Man could have panicked and changed to random weapon (and have a moment about robots making mistakes and having feelings) or used the acid as a room wide dispersal attack to eat through the wall (since it was depicted as liquid when he used it against Heat Man).

I felt like I missed a joke with Guts Man doing karaoke. What was it referencing? Actually same with the next issue. What universe is Plum from, is that lady with Light an established character? Same with the green guy. Also what about the la something or another ruins? Was the 'beyond the star' thing Wily was saying something from the Japanese or something Flynn just came up with? What was up with virus Mega Man's purple scarf again? Its not a tokusatsu thing, is it? Was the Light anti virus and item handheld computer a design that was used somewhere before? Is this like a pre cursor to Eddie Fliptop? We should have an annotated Archie Mega Man page or so.

Argh, why introduce Rush here? He could have waited until the next arc, really.

Yeah, the finale was rushed and crammed but it was a LOT of FUN! I kinda missed the Wily Bots. I thought maybe we'd see them in the boss rush but they ran away and have gone rogue when Wily hit the self destruct. That way, they could be roaming around the city, either being criminals (Quick Man felt like a malcontent, Bubble Man came off as a frustrated wannabe conqueror), trying to find their place in the world (Wood Man would certainly seek out his animal friends), possibly be useful (Air Man and Flash Man felt like they would ok with administrative duties) or just chill out (Heat Man was friendly enough).

Hmm, I may be getting my games wrong but Mega Man 3 was mining bots, already working in different sectors. Mega Man 4 was Cossack's bots. Mega Man 6 were stolen Robot Fair entries reprogrammed. So the next official Wily Bots would be Mega Man 5? Wily would have to rebuild the Mega Man 2 Wily bot series as his henchmen until he builds his next set.

I've read no spoilers on the next arc, in fact, I was surprised as heck to find out that it wasn't Mega Man 3 or the gameboy game. Pharoah Man is Mega Man 4 but he's a fave so I'm not complaining.

Will praise Ben Bates art again. It's so dynamic! The action jumps up from out of the page The expressions are great! Nope, I haven't seen the creative teams listed in upcoming issues so I hope he sticks around!

Great job on the finale! It wasn't perfect (adding more details on stages and bosses versus wrapping up the arc) but it was still a TON of FUN!!! icon-fire.gif

----

I checked out the destructiod preview pages of 13. Cossack seems young. I was expecting Pharoah Man to have his awesome cape from the us cartoon, lmao, dunno why. I'm thinking Emerald Spears is a play on Ruby Spears, lmao! Jonathan Hill is doing the art? Bates is gone? DARN! Hill is the guy who did the weeeeird art on Sonic's Return to Angel Island where Knuckles' bro Kneecaps was shown? That kinda sucked for me. But the art in the preview looks GREAT. Let's see how he does with action scenes.

Hey. Hey.

I'm really excited.

Mostly because it's Ian Flynn writing superheroes, but excited nonetheless.

Oh, Jonathan Gray! I got my Jon's mixed up! Yeah, Gray did the funky art in Return to Angel island. Love the blue jacket style he gave Ray the flying squirrel. Jon Hill is the artist of the next Mega Man arc. I didn't realize he was an artist too. He was hilarious in the modern 21 Jump Street and changed everything for Moneyball. Kidding icon-hotrod.gif

Ursa Magnus, are you in your 40s and have a son? There's a guy posting in the Bumbleking forum who's just as enthusiastic as you when it comes to the Crusaders. If that's not you, you should definitely go to the red circle forum in Bumbleking cuz they need all the Crusader attention they can muster. Ian Flynn reads the threads cuz it's his site (I think) so he'll pay attention to real fans of the classic comic. I dunno who Paul Kaminski is but he's probably the editor or some sort of head in Archie.

I'll check out the Crusaders too because I too would like to see how Flynn does with superheroes. He's got a winning streak so far:)

QUOTE(Fero McPigletron @ May 3 2012, 01:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The Items were awesome but two item 2's? Only item 1 could be used multiple times for the impossible jump as a stairway. Haha, would have been hilarious if one of the Light Bot grabbed hold of item 3 since it's trademark is to bounce around until it touches a wall. That wouldn't be canon tho. And why couldn't any of the Light bots create the items? Is it only Mega Man who's capable of manifesting the items?

I wouldn't stress game rules too much, or else Mega Man shouldn't be able to aim up or duck, either.

And it seems the support items run on the same Variable Weapons System that Mega Man's other weapons do.

QUOTE
Metal Blades! Awesome to have them mentioned as the universal weapon. Would have been nice to show Quick Boomerang too since Quick Man was a huge focus in the past issues. I would have been happier if Bubble Lead took out the hologram like in the game. Mega Man could have panicked and changed to random weapon (and have a moment about robots making mistakes and having feelings) or used the acid as a room wide dispersal attack to eat through the wall (since it was depicted as liquid when he used it against Heat Man).

Sounds like the Worlds of Power book.

QUOTE
I felt like I missed a joke with Guts Man doing karaoke. What was it referencing?

The karaoke, or the song?

Karaoke is Guts Man's favorite pastime; the song is referencing Roll's theme song from (if I remember right) Battle & Chase and Marvel vs. Capcom.

QUOTE
Actually same with the next issue. What universe is Plum from, is that lady with Light an established character? Same with the green guy.

Plum and, if I understand your question right, Ripot are from Battle & Chase. Dr. Lalinde is an all-new character, as is her robot, Quake Woman.

QUOTE
Also what about the la something or another ruins?

Super Adventure Rockman.

QUOTE
Was the 'beyond the star' thing Wily was saying something from the Japanese or something Flynn just came up with?

"Wily" turned into an alien; it was all part of his act.

QUOTE
What was up with virus Mega Man's purple scarf again? Its not a tokusatsu thing, is it?

In Mega Man Powered Up, you can unlock other Robot Masters to play as by defeating them with only your Mega Buster. When you play as one of those Robot Masters, "Mega Man?" takes their place with a decidedly meaner look... including the purple scarf.

QUOTE
Was the Light anti virus and item handheld computer a design that was used somewhere before?

Nothing I'm immediately aware of.

QUOTE
Is this like a pre cursor to Eddie Fliptop?

I'm doubtful.

QUOTE
We should have an annotated Archie Mega Man page or so.

...eh?

QUOTE
Argh, why introduce Rush here? He could have waited until the next arc, really.

Why not? It's not as though they focused on him for more than a page, and it clears the way for him to be there in the next one.

QUOTE

I have a hunch as to why they were not revived, aside from space issues... suffice to say, I think you can count on their return before too long.

QUOTE
I've read no spoilers on the next arc, in fact, I was surprised as heck to find out that it wasn't Mega Man 3 or the gameboy game. Pharoah Man is Mega Man 4 but he's a fave so I'm not complaining.

And now you can get to know him better before Mega Man shines a light in his eyes and puts a gun to his head.

Anyone pick-up Sonic Super Special magazine for the 10 page original comic? I couldn't rationalize paying $10 bucks for the story, so I hope it isn't essential to the story arc. If anything, I kinda feel that they should've made the Super Special Magazine story the Free Comic Book Day story and put the prose junk in the magazine...

I got one to see how I liked it.

And while it's good (and I wound up getting a good one to sample, given Sonic 4 Ep. II), I'm not sure I can justify the $10 price tag...

...might look at a subscription, though. Maybe.

Pharoah Man's a little bland, or at least, I don't know what to think of him. He's all jerky and irritable at the start, then at the end he's all nervous and confused. Also, he needs a cape. I loved the explanation for his name, motif and function, though. It's so ridiculous, but in a perfect kind of way.

The best contribution of the 90's cartoon!
