@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:41 AM)

Like, in general, not going into specific bands or covers. Because I could point out plenty of repainted toys I didn't like as much as the original, too.

@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:39 AM)

Is a musician covering a song "fixing" it?

@  Nevermore : (17 May 2021 - 05:15 AM)

So, then, isn't redecoing or retooling an existing toy also "fixing" someone else's art?

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 10:07 PM)

A toy is not on the same level as a piece of drawn art, true, but it is 100% an entertainment product.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 05:05 PM)

A toy is an object of utility, Comparing that to a piece of drawn art is grossly ignoring the difference between the two. Also, you didn't answer my questions. Try again.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:25 PM)

Part of the difference is that those covers are primarily one person's art. Sure, you probably have an inker and a colorist, but the lines and composition are one person. A toy however is a team design at pretty much all levels.

@  Cyoti : (16 May 2021 - 03:52 PM)

toymaking is a collaborative process, you have to make compromises and factories are going to get things wrong

@  tigerhawk : (16 May 2021 - 03:43 PM)

Earthrise had a few holes, Runamuck's legs YIKES!

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 03:37 PM)

I doubt that say, the designer for Kingdom Cheetor was happy about every bit of unpainted plastic on it.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:28 PM)

J Scott Campbell recently had his Spiderman cover "fixed" by someone online. A few weeks ago, someone on twitter "fixed" someone's Sonic the Hedgehog fan art where Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were drawn as humans. Both times and other times, the "fixer" gets called out and criticised as you shouldn't go around "fixing" someone else's art because its rude and disrespectful to the original artist. And I was thinking isn't "fixed your s*** for ya" exactly what toy customisers do?

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

Have you ever changed your car in any way whatsoever compared to the factory configuration, or are you leaving the designer's art unchanged in that case as well?

@  CORVUS : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

It's best not to ponder it too hard.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 04:16 AM)

Bass X0, I really wonder sometimes how you come up with these random tangents apropos of nothing.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:11 AM)

It's collaborative art.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 04:07 AM)

Toys are subject to budget constraints, so its not like customizing would ruin the designer's vision or whatever.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:38 AM)

Isn't customising a toy just "fixing other people's art"?

That might actually be a fake noise they make electric cars make so pedestrians can hear them. Some cars even let you pick out what noise they make.

Actually heard a car with that electric, scifi-hum to it. Made me realize that we kinda are living in the future...

Nearly thirty Studio Series figs including the '86 line. "I won't touch that." I said a few years ago when deluxe wave 5 came to my store for a tenner each. My latest one' is 72 Starscream.

The 1988 G1 line up could all have been done as Titan Master things, I figure the Pretenders could be done as Titan Master Drones and Prime Master shells.

@  Cyoti : (08 May 2021 - 11:14 AM)

Perfect is the enemy of the good. And it's still better than making him a remold of RTS Jazz as planned originally. Fact of the matter is: Nightbeat is just not a priority with Hasbro.

I grew up reading my brother's old Marvel Star Wars comics, Jaxxon is bought on sight. Wish he was greener though.

I love the existence of Jaxxon and want to buy him just to support that but I also kinda hate the head sculpt. I'm fine with making him more realistic, but make him realistic and young, happy, adventurous looking. Look at the package art. They made him realistic with a head that looks like a tired, overweight old man of his species.

- ZacWilliam, this looks like Force Awakens Jaxxon instead of Empire Strikes Back.

I. . .just don't know. Jaxxon reminds me of Frank from Donnie Darko.

It is strange that they used his new art for the package while the figure is clearly based on the original Marvel art from the seventies.

I'd forgotten that wave had already been announced. But considering it's largely an army builder wave for Rogue One with the additional Sand Person, I don't know why I could have forgotten. :D

A little belated, but a couple weeks ago, I did see the Target exclusive Mission Fleet IG-11 with child set (features IG-11, a child in harness and Imperial Speederbike).  Surprisingly, I also saw the newest wave of Starfighters, with the TIE Whisper and Obiwan Jedi fighter.

For all the complaints about "nothing out there" from fans...I've had little issue finding a LOT of the newest Mission Fleet stuff.  The biggest issue is still inventory, but it's a LOT easier to find Mission Fleet than the collector stuff at this stage.  And the fact its new stuff says to me it's selling.

Next wave of the basic Fleet Gear also revealed via retailer listings.  You can look forward to a carryover of Darth Maul, some form of Battle Droid (a standard droid with a mini STAP?), and a Death Watch Mandalorian of some flavor.

The Child in Harness works great with 1:18 scaled figures.  I currently have mine sitting behind Heavy Duty firing a gatling gun out of an APC (RHINO).

So many murderous adventures to be had now.

I've been mulling over picking up the Blurgg set.  Trying not to buy figures of "Oh hey there was this character on that one episode that one time" to keep the collection smaller.  And yes, I know Nick Nolte was a major character in S1, but these are the mental gymnastics that I do to try to keep myself from going down the Mandalorian Rabbit Hole.

...hell, I already have the 6" Black Series Flame Trooper because it was on sale...

Good looking reveals for the Black series. Reeves, Zero, ROTJ Lando and Aurra Sing are bought on sight. Really like the likeness on Reeves' face.

In the realm of "toys you'll probably be able to actually find":

Adam Pawlus reported seeing figures of The Mandalorian and Child (with Pram) available at retailers in their "Value" line.  The 6" 4 POA line that typically shows up at Dollar General, Family Dollar and seasonally at places like Walgreens.

Probably have better luck with that than the Target exclusives (which I'd put even money on being reran at some point, be it a new run or Archive series).

Remember Galaxy of Adventures?  The really novel 5” kids line that was WAY better than anyone would give it credit for?  The one that got completely bogged down on Rise of Skywalker stuff nobody seemed to want to the point it languished for over a year?

Last fall we got a few tail Enders from online guys, but I guess Hasbro had a couple more tooled that didn’t make it out.  Amazon picked them up as an exclusive.

GoA Stormtrooper and Mandalorian

https://www.amazon.c...,aps,198&sr=8-1

Can’t help but wonder how the line might have gone if Hasbro had guys like the above two out at the line’s launch in 2019.
