I might need to update my software, or they face regional limitations, cause I found no evidence of either.

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:34 PM)

Or do Japan's cultural values vary depending on exactly who you're trying to shut down?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:33 PM)

Could it be that, perhaps, these different cultural values might lead to a different approach seeming appropriate?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:32 PM)

Hm. Back when we were arguing about the Legends comic, I seem to recall being repeatedly told that Japan had different cultural values than the US (and therefore anyone who had a problem with anything at all was wrong to voice that opinion ever).

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:23 AM)

Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, every single anime character is built to suit the audience's tastes so they buy more merch/do other things that allow $$$ to flow in the production committees direction, so the authenticity is certainly not for representation's sake.

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:18 AM)

Both those anime air at midnight and are aimed at a very specific audience in a whole other media landscape. Major projects have press releases about almost everything, and there are groups just waiting to pat anybody on the back for doing what they want (GLAAD, HRC, etc)

@  B-Fox : (19 February 2020 - 03:16 AM)

It's funny that a friggin' anime about zombie idols and an anime about a school of anthropomorphic animals can have really positive trans characters WITHOUT a press release about their inclusion in the series prior to the episodes airing or having the creators announcing it on social media and patting themselves on the back for doing a thing.

Do you want vegans? Because that's how you get vegans.

@  CORVUS : (18 February 2020 - 04:33 PM)

Hook up your sprinkler system to a canister of healthy organic carrot-juice. The kids won't be able to get off your lawn fast enough.

Finally got around to opening the Ultimate Warrior set.  The individual models we unimpressive enough I went straight for the combined mode.  About half, maybe more than half, of the pieces went unused in the combined mode.  Even after I used a bunch of the leftovers to improve the combined mode, there were still something like two hundred leftover pieces.

Been trying to procure more of the original Lego figure cases (what I started with, then discontinued them while I prioritized other things and the follow up cases are incompatable) to finish up a display for my Kreons. Still need 2 more 16-figure cases for the rest of the individual Micro-changers and for the RiD* Kreons. I'm not even going to bother with the "Kreon Warriors", that way would just lead to madness.

*EDIT: Now all I seek is the original green Devastator Kreon and the custom Kreon Predaking.

Another mech combiner set.  "The Raging Warrior," makes me think this is Prowl as his own combiner.  Too bad I don't have a properly scaled table for it to flip.

So I have an oddball question.

I have a lego train set with an oldish motor (bought about 5 years ago). The battery box holds 6 batteries. If more than 3 of them are fresh, brand-new batteries, it flies off the track. If only 2 of them are new, it chugs along around the track once or twice. There isn't a speed control. How do I get around this? I've front-loaded the train, back-loaded the train, put the motor in the middle... nothing seems to affect the problem.

Are you sure you're using all of the original electronics that came with the set?  It sounds like the motor is designed for a lower voltage.  Do you have a smaller battery box somewhere?

Bought the motor and the battery box at the same time from Pick-A-Brick. I didn't see any other sizes available.

There needs to be a speed controller then.  There was no IR controller available?  Looks like a little RC remote?

Battery, power wire, motor. That's it. No, I never got anything else. Guess maybe I'll have to buy an actual motorized lego train set and get the pieces I'm missing.

Anyone familiar with this Cobi company? Their CV-6 Enterprise seems interesting. And I assume there's going to be a more obtainable regular edition at some point.

If it was this battery box here

UMyUuMu.jpg

Then yeah, it's part of the Power Functions line. I could get into technical reasons but yeah, you need an IR reciever and the special Train Controller to moderate the speeds.

That or the sealed rechargeable battery brick. It actually has a click dial on top that lets you moderate the speed. I built that into the Christmas Train; It gets scary when set to four. ... Out of seven.

Oh that little bugger. Yeah, that's the same system but in AAA. Again, if you want speed control through Power Functions you need an IR reciever and the dedicated train controller. Throttling through resistance won't work, they're stepper motors with a control board looking for a data signal on the second set of contacts.

I'm sure some Lego-themed (or really, ANY) YouTubers might've done some unboxings.
