Eh. It had a few ideas that could've been interesting. They just never went anywhere because it was easier to have Megatron brainwash everyone.

@  Nevermore : (05 June 2020 - 07:41 PM)

Energon's biggest problem is that it was made.

@  Paladin : (05 June 2020 - 05:15 PM)

remember when Energon had to switch animation styles because their CGI models were completely incapable of expressing emotions ?

@  Thundercrack... : (05 June 2020 - 04:42 PM)

And what was done to Demolisher to a lesser extent.

@  Thundercrack... : (05 June 2020 - 04:34 PM)

Energon's biggest problem is what it did to Starscream.

@  TheMightyMol... : (05 June 2020 - 04:00 PM)

I mean, they took all of that and the series is still dull enough to use as a sleep aid, so....

@  wonko the sane? : (05 June 2020 - 02:46 PM)

It's a food source, a weapon and so unstable that looking at it funny makes it explode. If energon is boring, blame the writers not the element.

@  TheMightyMol... : (05 June 2020 - 02:17 PM)

Energon's big problem is that it's boring.

@  Maximus Ambus : (05 June 2020 - 01:48 PM)

@  Maximus Ambus : (05 June 2020 - 01:44 PM)

Energon was the worst of the lot.

"I know I can't catch you.... but I can... trap you...!"

@  Maximus Ambus : (04 June 2020 - 11:51 PM)

They dubbed reaction shots and running scenes in the first two UT shows with "huh?" and grunts. very annoying.

@  Sabrblade : (04 June 2020 - 06:10 PM)

Watch it in Japanese with English subs. Karyuudo did all that work for us so that we could. ;)

@  wonko the sane? : (04 June 2020 - 06:08 PM)

I tried... but it just wasn't that good. The comics were better.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (04 June 2020 - 04:07 PM)

I didn't even watch Armada when it originally aired.

Shockwave did it.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (30 May 2020 - 12:21 AM)

I'm not in the US and at least some of the episodes seem to work for me. I don't know the actual list of places it's available, though.

@  Shockwave 75 : (29 May 2020 - 10:37 PM)

Unfortunately It seems Cyberverse is only available in the US on YouTube.

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 May 2020 - 09:19 AM)

Yes, and its ongoing.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (29 May 2020 - 01:05 AM)

Cyberverse is already officially uploaded to YouTube.

@  fourteenwings : (29 May 2020 - 12:36 AM)

Spin Master is abridging current episodes of Bakugan Armored Alliance and posting the result on YouTube. Maybe Hasbro does that someday too.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 10:59 PM)

I see... :/

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 08:14 PM)

Within the US anyway. Those channels aren't easy or cheap to access in other countries, and their website often region lock content. Tubi is the only good thing on that list: largely identical (but not perfectly so. Damnit. I wanna watch COPS.) country to country and free.

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:24 PM)

So yeah, Hasbro is using plenty of venues to spread exposure of their brands

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:23 PM)

Starz currently licenses Transformers G1 and the GI Joe movie (as well as MLP specials). Netflix has more current series available.

@  Nevermore : (28 May 2020 - 07:21 PM)

Study shows: Holders of the title "world's oldest person" have a severely increased risk of dying.

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:18 PM)

Tubi TV and Youtube both host various Hasbro cartoons. Both are freely accessed and ad supported. Any basic TV package (barring straight antenna) includes channels like USA Network, SyFy and FX, all of which regularly air the films from Transformers and GI Joe.

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 06:18 PM)

I dunno what to tell you, media might be changing slowly, but at least it's still accessible. Even the folks that DON'T get one of the streaming services can watch it on the company website. It's a vehicle for the toy line after all, they need to make an effort to make it as consumable as possible.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 05:41 PM)

Well. Thats said, then.... I guess... :doh

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 04:13 PM)

As long as the the cartoons are profitable, then they'll make more. The media it's shown on is completely irrelevant. I say that as a guy whose earliest surviving memory is a big red truck turning into a big red robot.

@  ZakuConvoy : (28 May 2020 - 03:06 PM)

Might be the end of an era. With the rise of streaming, who knows if Transformers will ever be on broadcast TV again.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 11:46 AM)

3 seasons on a show is usually enough... but yeah ;-;

@  Roddie Luver : (27 May 2020 - 09:37 PM)

I’m also sad Cyberverse has no season four.

@  Paladin : (26 May 2020 - 08:10 PM)

it's too hugging hot today.

So anyone else here going to Brickworld Indy? Looks like a lot of fun. icon-hotrod.gif I'll be around on Sunday.

Clearly Redjack Ryan will be there. I'll probably find him by looking for the giant M-Tron build. icon-fire.gif

Sunday at the show I may be wandering around taking photos, or helping out. I will wear a light orange polo shirt with the IndyLUG logo and an engraved lego brick-badge.

Well, I bought my first major Creator set - the Pet Shop. I'm 3/4 complete, and so far, I'm completely blown away.
Granted, the price is a bit high for typical Lego purchases ($150), but the price per piece is extraordinarily good. Also, no decals, and the set uses old pieces in unique ways rather than just making up new pieces (e.g. black skeleton legs for bannister railing or skis to make a decorative arch).

I feel this set warrants purchase if for no other reason than rewarding the sheer degree of ingenuity that went into its design. I'm not even an architecture buff, but I can tell you that I'm digging everything about this set's design aesthetic.

There's even a proper toilet and water closet - something I'd never have expected to see in a Lego house (Lego prison, on the other hand...).

So yeah, I went ahead and ordered the new Town Hall and some pick-a-brick selections to make myself an alleyway to help break up the wall-o-buildings that will inevitably exist once I add Fire Brigade and Emporium in the coming months.

Oh, and today's the last day for the Double VIP Points + Free Shipping combo at the online Lego store.

Well I picked up some more Mini-figures. I got The Butcher another Minotaur and Rory Williams and two more space chicks bringing me to four total. I think fate wants to build an army of blond bombshells clad in pink...

Still working on processing the photos from Brickworld this past weekend. Here's the stash I got from the LEGO store since I don't get a chance to visit that often.

I pretty much have all of the figures. Just missing the Clockwork Robot and the Intergalactic Space Chick. Technically, I'm also missing the Flamenco Dancer and Sleepy Head to complete the entire series but they are not that high on my priority list. If I can get Intergalactic Girl and Clockwork, I can live without the other two.

Wow, that's a lot of cheddar converted into brick form. Do VIP cards ever max out on points?
But since we're sharing, this is what I came home to in January:

I know that the transforming sub didn't get a lot of good reviews (least not while I was researching it before purchase), but it's honestly one of my favourite Atlantis sets - and it's a nice compliment to the Lex Luthor mech, too.

Atlantis was a pretty good theme, though I was a bit disappointed with the Neptune Carrier. For my money, I much prefer the Exploration HQ sub that opens up into a mini-playset. I think most of the disappointment with the transforming sub originated in its diminutive size (and admittedly crappy sea serpent counterpart), but as anyone who is familiar with Legos will tell you, most sets are smaller than you expect, and the more your collection grows, the more of a blessing it is becomes apparent. Good things come in oversized packages, which then convert to compact models.

I paid around $40 for the transforming sub off of amazon back in the fall, and I'd do it again. So while I can understand disappointment in missing out on the clearance price, don't let it deter you from picking this baby up.

Got around to finishing Creator Pet Shop. This has got to be my favourite Lego set to date - at least until I get my Town Hall.
My only complaint with this set? Only four mini-figures for the entire thing. There's not even enough for one per floor. Granted, I realise that it came with quite a few animals, which probably was the reason for cutting the count down to four.

So I added a few of my own. It's not like I have a shortage of Lego people.

Oh, and I'm torn on the use of the classic Lego face for the heads. On one hand, I'm a terrible nostalgist so it's great to see the face I grew up with.
On the other hand, I really like how far Lego faces have come over the years. You've got a variety of faces (and even dual-sided heads) to choose from. Pick-a-Brick to the rescue on that one.

If anything, I'll at least be able to choose which look I like better.

Yes, yes it does. Maybe the reason that the second floor is being renovated is because someone got died in it and is now living as a ghost.
...or something ridiculous like that. Actually, it just looks neat staring out the window.

I've also added the Rapper from series 3 sitting on the steps with his ghetto blaster. Can't wait to get the rest of the street set up.
