That's so corny.

@  Shrug : (16 July 2019 - 06:07 PM)

We have a cornfield? Can I get a few ears?

@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:56 PM)

And lastly, if it becomes too much hassle to deal with - it might just get sent into the cornfield and replaced with a Discord box anyway. So cool it.

@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:55 PM)

Second thing is we do actually have the ability to ban users specifically from using Shoutbox if it's being abused like that

@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:55 PM)

Hey all - just a reminder and heads up. The Shoutbox has been kept here as a courtesy because it's what you folks like in lieu of Discord - but a few things to remember is that P&R should stay in P&R and isn't really something that needs to be dragged out here in the most public of spaces.

@  Nevermore : (16 July 2019 - 11:04 AM)

Done.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 July 2019 - 10:25 AM)

You can make a new one. I doubt anybody would stop you.

@  Nevermore : (16 July 2019 - 10:16 AM)

There was a thread but it appears to have disappeared. Might have been lost in one of the older forum sweeps.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 July 2019 - 09:58 AM)

Yeah this is pretty much circumventing the fact that we have different rules for political talk.

@  fourteenwings : (16 July 2019 - 09:55 AM)

Okay, so, basically, can we not do politics in here anymore? I mean, considering how often @Nevermore, you talk about your work conditions, don't you think it's time for a dedicated thread in P&R?

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:39 AM)

Scratch that; that's insulting to honest salads. Whatever that was was the text equivalent of hamburger.

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:38 AM)

Would you like some dressing to go with your word salad?

@  Paladin : (16 July 2019 - 09:34 AM)

yes; it now goes "shit piss hug *BLEEP* ^$@^ motherhuger **** turd fart encyclopedia & Socialism."

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:24 AM)

This is an American site, but isn't that unnecessarily severe language? IIRC it's one of the top four offensive pejoratives to English people

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (16 July 2019 - 08:52 AM)

It's amusing how so many (U.S.) wankers in this world love to whine "capitalism good socialism bad!" in the abstract while simultaneously pretending that megacorporations dominating de facto monopolies is anathema to the core capitalistic principle of competition benefits everyone.

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 05:17 AM)

I know Shockwave's super mode is pretty lame and Magnus is kinda greebly but it's not that bad.

@  TM2-Megatron : (16 July 2019 - 12:38 AM)

Though with the luck and caliber of leaders we've had of late in the darkest timeline, maybe it's too much to hope for.

@  TM2-Megatron : (16 July 2019 - 12:36 AM)

Just like democracy, it's not perfect but better than the present alternatives. Capitalism as it's practiced today won't be able to weather the coming wave of automation, though. Best to plan for it and hope for a gentle transition rather than the aforementioned collapse

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 12:27 AM)

Capitalism is the worst amiright? Sent from my iPhone

@  Vexwing : (15 July 2019 - 11:24 PM)

Because the collapse is gonna be just great.

@  TM2-Megatron : (15 July 2019 - 10:41 PM)

Let's hope this is late stage and we're on the cusp of something better.

@  abates : (15 July 2019 - 09:45 PM)

Late stage capitalism is the absolute best.

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 01:33 PM)

So, welcome to all retail, everywhere.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:24 PM)

Oh, and Greenpeace also conducted a protest at a German Amazon facility, to protest against Amazon's practice of throwing customer returns in the trash.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:17 PM)

Right, because with Amazon, it's just the employees that have to step in dog shit while having no space to breathe.[/slightexaggeration]

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (15 July 2019 - 01:03 PM)

At least I can use Amazon without losing the ability to breath or step in dog shit.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:58 PM)

Considering that Amazon is the new Walmart...

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:39 PM)

All of my best wishes go out to the brave women and men who have the balls (and ovaries) to go on strike at an Amazon facility in the US.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:38 PM)

Speaking of. Not only are we in Germany on strike today, but so is the fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota!

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 12:36 PM)

Overnight delivery is the right of all sentient beings.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:34 PM)

(and is it sexist of me to assume that a character named "Amazon Prime" would be feminine?)

That's a World Peace Keepers release that was available at Big Lots! ~4-5 years ago.

It's both versatile and relatively light-weight, which works nicely for all kinds of displays.

That's the one, damn good purchase it was, same with the command/HQ they put out earlier. A great supplemental line for GI Joe.

Bullhorn looks pretty good, I think him, Interrogator and Nunchuck  I'll consider if I can afford to at the time.

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to nab the HQ as well.  That World Peacekeepers line was pretty nice overall.  I especially liked their (apparently) licensed vics.  I'll take a HMMWV or Blackhawk for my Joe collection over another weird-ass creation or gods forbid, *another* A.W.E. Striker.  How many of those do they really intend to make?

Looks like the Power Team Elite building playset (as sold at Big Lots and the like).

65 bucks?  Jeebus!  If that's what their asking, I don't need it that bad.

That's the markup because it's been off the market for a bit. Keep your eyes open when Christmas rolls around again and you might see it in stores. I think it was forty bucks tops originally.

Yeah, I think I got mine for ~35.

Granted, when I think about the exorbitant sums that I've spent on other collectibles recently or even the occasional FSS figures from BBTS, $65 hardly seems like a prohibitive sum for something not so readily available.

Finally picked up some additional parts, and felt inspired to get some workin back done on an old project.

SO... here are my prototypes.  LMK what you think.

I present, from what was intended for my submission to Joecustoms 'knockoffs' group project.... my version of Bad Guys.

Don't know the contest rules but I think they'd look better if the various pouches were a different color than the straps. Otherwise they look good.

The rules where basically to take the various knock-off lines from the 80's, and make them up into Joe figs.  As for the pouches/straps, I've yet to begin any painting.  Figgure I'd wait until I finish the last 2.

I really like goggles guy up there.  On what is he based?

Which one with the goggles?  Their not really 'based' on anyone individually... just my creative definition of a very vague 'knock off' line.

Their all meant to be my rendition of a Remco line called 'The Bad Guys'.  They where just random generic re-molds of Sgt. Rock figs intended to be enemies for the Sgt. BUT due to scale could easily be used as Generic enemy soldiers for the A-team, MASH, and G.I. Joe lines at the time.  Unfortunately these are so relatively generic/obscure that I couldn't find very much information on them.  While that is indeed a pain in the ass, it also gives me a lot of room for creativity.  All I really have to go with is their Black & ______ colors, and their names (and even then, some of those can't be used due to pre-existing Joes).  No specialties, not even any back-stories.  Lots of leeway even with a GP, and once the Deadline passed and I hadn't gotten anything done, It's practically free reign!

So yeah... basically I'm just inspired to give them all individuality other than 'different colored helmet'.

The one using the Buzzer head, I believe.  That's generally an interesting as hell concept, considering how crazy some of the Joe knockoffs started getting by the '90s (and I'm including The Corps stuff in that statement).  Where can I find more?

I'm not sure I like the "ROC Snake-Eyes chest as a muscle shirt" on Billy, especially with the baggier Retaliation Flint sleeves.

I really like the recipe for the Night Creeper - I was really afraid it would just be the previous Creeper in white. The "new" arms and legs really help freshen up the look as well as add bits of color to break up all of that white. The shoulder cape is a pretty swank addition as well.

He still needs a little more color though. I would have liked to see some forearms with armored gauntlets or something to get more silver on the arms. And maybe a shirt with some added sculpted detail that could get painted.

I'm not overly familiar with Billy as a character, but I will say that the ridiculously tight "shirt" seems appropriate for an overly bad-ass 90's era mercenary. I mean, yes, from a realism stand point it's dumb. But as a comic book character, it works.
