I had an odd dream about the Joe franchise last night.
In the dream, it was discovered that somebody (can't remember if it was Hasbro or a licensee like Funskool) secretly made a number of very limited-run (500 pieces at the extreme) figures for distribution via some sort of "private" channel (can't remember if it was an early fan club or something of that nature). All of the figures were made on the cheap, with almost all of them either being Franken-Joes of some sort or minor repaints.
I specifically recall:
*A rendition of the 1984 Storm Shadow figure with an ink wash.
*A "tactical" version of a Joe (Beach-Head?) made using that figure's original head and the body of Repeater.
*A "tactical" version of another Joe (I recall Roadblock *and* Duke for some reason) made using the figure's head(s) and the body of Spearhead.
*An original character made using the head of the 1989 Snake-Eyes figure and the body of Windmill (but with Ghostrider's colors). The character was a "ninja pilot" and would have been the operator of a proposed but cancelled Joe helicopter (the helicopter would have been a knock-off of Switchblade from the MASK line known as the "Jack-knife").
I'm almost morbidly curious to see some of these figures done up in real-life now.
