I got Studio Series 39 Cogman yesterday and woke up to find he'd decapitated my titans returns figures.

@  Maximus Ambus : (04 July 2020 - 01:47 PM)

So the Emperor in episodes 1 through 6 was a clone?

Jellystone. We're going to be plunged into a decade of poor animation. Fortunately we've been led by bad cartoon characters for years so we won't notice much difference.

@  -LittleAutob... : (30 June 2020 - 05:55 PM)

x-x when in vehicle mode we can travel much F A R T H E R-

@  wonko the sane? : (30 June 2020 - 05:52 PM)

Because despite the fact that we can travel around the world in the time it takes to get a good nights sleep and a couple of meals: people rarely wander more than 25 miles away from home for the duration of their lives.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:49 PM)

I don't know how many days that trip takes - especially while sightseeing - but explaining they're 3936 kilometers (2445 miles) apart gives an idea, paradoxically because it is too large to easily picture.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:44 PM)

Aye.  When I catch lay people discussing miles and not how long the trip takes, it is in an attempt to stress how far away something is... like NYC to LA.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

But I can imagine 45 *minutes* easily.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

I can imagine a mile, it's a distance I've run. I can't really imagine 45 miles.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:19 PM)

I think there's also an element of the thing where things that are much bigger than us all blur together.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:49 AM)

If you're not, then you're more concerned with how long it takes.  Actual distance doesn't tell you that very well.  Besides traffic and road conditions, you'll need to know what kind of driving (city/interstate/rural/etc.).

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:47 AM)

Distance matters if you're being paid by the mile.

@  TM2-Megatron : (30 June 2020 - 11:44 AM)

Canadians are the same way, for the most part. If you're driving somewhere far, especially, it helps you plan out the day more than a distance in KM would.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:42 AM)

We use the time it takes to get someplace because that is what is relevant to us.

@  TheMightyMol... : (30 June 2020 - 10:55 AM)

Because even we can't figure out miles half the time.

@  Paladin : (30 June 2020 - 09:54 AM)

it's a big country with a lot of empty space. between our citizens' ears.

@  Bass X0 : (30 June 2020 - 09:52 AM)

Why do most Americans measure distance by hours of driving?

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 07:26 PM)

And as a result the world's lone blu-ray release of the film, an Australian disc that came out 7 years ago, now goes for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Thanks Disney.

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 06:21 PM)

Well, they censored Daryl Hannah's butt in Splash :rolleyes

@  Paladin : (29 June 2020 - 05:43 PM)

maybe New Mutants is too bad even for D+.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 June 2020 - 05:00 PM)

X-Men films are coming to Disney+ next month. But will they censor Hugh Jackman's butt?

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 June 2020 - 12:44 PM)

Pft.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 11:59 AM)

It's definitely the same hair at least.

I'll be a monkey's uncle, yep that's it! I think it's the same head exactly, just made to fit the new neck balls with new painting.

This is nice. Pretty much what I expected, con Sparta with the DTC CG's coat. Kudos for adding the belt from 25th Lady Jaye.

That being said, I really can't say a vintage-style Cover Girl is something I'd be interested in paying premium prices for.

Same here.

'bout the only way I could get worked up would be if she was packed with a Wolverine or another such Joe tank. And since the first part of the cartoon had her as a blonde in a green jumpsuit, Hasbro technically could make that happen if they wanted to.

But by herself as a subscription figure? No thanks.

So, anyone still into ARAH-constructed Joes?

I just finished my custom RAH-style Cobra De A?o and I'd love to hear some feedback!

2012 looks like it'll be a good year for Joes. I'll definitely be picking up Storm Shadow, Sci-fi, and Airtight for sure. Will have to see more of some of the others before making a final decision on them. Oh, and I'm squarely on the fence about picking up Renegades Firefly. Can anyone who owns him give me a good reason to purchase?

Well, in other news, they revealed the twelfth figure, Big Boa:

The body was a no-brainer. They did a lot of new parts: head, gloves, chest straps. They even included a lot of the cancelled ROC "training" Duke's gear.
On the other hand, that cream color on the helmet isn't look very good, and the painted-on "crotchplate" isn't impressive but it would've been acceptable, had it not been for the fact that they "bled" it over the sculpted belt as well.

Personally, I'm not digging it, but that's more because I feel Boa needs a modern upgrade with some MMA added to him, than as a big Schwarzenegger-built boxer.
It's why I've been using the leaner Terra-Viper, with Rex Lewis's claws, as my modernized Big Boa.

Detour, what you describe sounds neat... but not Big Boa. They're not trying to reinvent the guy. He IS a big beefy bodybuilder.

This is a DAMN good update, IMO. I'm actually pretty shocked we have real gloves; I figured it would be the... well, the MMA-style gloves from POC Quick Kick. The extra headgear surprises me, as that suggests a removable helmet and yet ANOTHER new part. The helmet and colors overall do seem a bit bright... then again, I don't expect this guy to be hitting the battlefield.

No, the extra headgear is intended for his sparring partner, says so on the Club site.

Ah, cool. I had just looked at the pic. Thanks for the clarification.

Love the new Big Boa. He's perfect, and will look great with Croc Master (the two always seemed like a pair to me due to the year they came out and their muscle bound physiques).

So I'm trying to get some talk going in the GI Joe Club Mag discussion thread... I went through the last year's worth of mags and wrote up everything about the fantastic Adventure Team comics, dossiers, reviews, and more! If you're enjoying the Adventure Team, come talk about it! If you want to know more, come ask! If you hate the Adventure Team, you have no soulcome talk about what you DO like in the Club Mag!

A crew member was just killed on the set of the second G. I. Joe movie.

I've read two different accounts so far, and it appears that he was in the process of taking down a set when his power lift toppled over.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what specifically went wrong here; so much stuff can go down with a power lift that it's not even funny.

So now that the club has released the card art (not impressed) for the first subscription figure are we going to have to wait until all twelve are shown before the prices are released?

The longer the wait the less interested I'm becoming in signing up.

I also really resent that I have to join the more expensive membership tier to get the subscription. I haven't been a Joe Club member in I don't know how many years but I didn't need to be in a higher tier to buy FunPub's exclusives back then.

Lastly, at $20.00-$25.00USD per fig., why does it have to be two figs. per month?

The more I think about it the less likely I'm going to want to swing $50.00USD not including S&H a month for kitbashes of varying quality of characters I have little to no affinity for.

Hrmm...
