My Middle Earth SBG love continues as I've started a Lothlorien army. Fancied a change though from my usual copying of film paint schemes and went for something brighter.

Sanity has won out on my end. I've opted not to get the Shadow and Pain box (for now). While yes, the number of DoK models individually cost as much as the box...but that's literally then just a 1 for 1 purchase. As I've zero interest in the Hedonites of Slaanesh at all and from what I've been seeing online nobody's really excited about them anyway in the sense I'd recoup any sort of cost out of selling that side of the box (Biggest thing I've seen is people pointing out the Chariot must not sell since GW pushes it with every Hedonites box). There's also the fact I have zero idea if I'll even enjoy painting Daughters of Khaine (I've got the Underworlds warband incoming to see if its an army I'd even be interested in doing more with).
Flip side, however...I preordered my copy of Broken Realms: Morathi and the CoS Battalion box. While I only have two AoS Battletomes, Cities of Sigmar captured my imagination (While Seraphon was an incredibly dry read), and that Battalion box is ridiculous value for even GW's costs and it's got insane versatility when it comes to assembly. Morathi mostly because the story spoilers I've seen make it something I really want to read on the face of it, and it adds two new Cities to the CoS roster. Har Kuron and Misthavn offer some new opportunities that I feel the Battalion box is going play into and may help me finally nail down a direction for a real CoS force (Also the fact Morathi is including new CoS rules and cities makes me feel better about the long term survivability of the army in general and not just a place for models to wait to be squatted).

Oh Hi me from a week ago. I think it's safe to say this concern was unfounded.
I am kind of glad I didn't jump on Shadow and Pain though, for the simple fact the snake girls might have been catching my eye but she was probably the most "boring" in terms of applying paint to. Had a lot more fun with Morgwaeth herself and especially the Sister of Slaughter.

Probably because I'm neither interested in Space Marines or Chaos, but that panel does nothing for me. Indeed, my biggest gripe about it is how every Cultist is wielding firearms but refuses to use them. True, an Autogun is about effective against Ceremite as spitting, but Calgar's sporting that nice exposed fleshy noggin that mass fire could reduce to a red sack of jelly. That one poor damned soul got close enough for Maneus to tear him in half. When you wield a ranged weapon, that's exactly the last place you want to be.
I get the setting lends itself to Bolter Porn, but I prefer action scenes that actually make some tactical sense to them.

FINALLY. After almost a month of waiting...
Spent the morning devouring Morathi. First off though, let me just say Morathi is a damn sight better put together than my experience on the 40k side with Psychic Awakening. $40 for a 79 page tome, only 20 pages of it lore, vs a 120 page tome with 71 pages of lore. And while my prospective factions in both books got equal number of pages devoted to them in terms of rules (Genestealer Cults vs Cities of Sigmar), I feel like the addition of two brand new cities with special rules, artifacts, and mechanics is a lot better value than a handful of generic strategems that have been invalidated by 9th Edition.
It also does a hell of a lot to advance the overall story of AoS.

So I assembled my Black Dragon, and made the offhand comment to my wife I wasn't keen on painting it black. Her response was "Paint it pink. Do it. Do it or No Balls."
And I took that personally.
Not to toot my own horn here, but it's looking rad as eff.

So the Black Library preview is going on right now, and we've got confirmation of the third book of the Dark Imperium series - Godblight - is incoming.
But we also got told that the first two books - Dark Imperium and Plague War - are getting re-released with alterations to make it fit into the greater Dawn of Fire series, moving the entire story to 12 years into the launch of the Indominitus Crusade instead of 112 years after.
This...is a not insignificant change.

How is her education coming along?
Slowly. But much like Chaos, the corruption is inevitable. I'm helped on that front that she's a big fan of TheRussianBadger who has done a few videos on 40k.
Theres also the Uriel Ventres mini. hope we get some of the other characters from that book series like Honsu and his chaos band.
I'm becoming a jaded cynic like those on Reddit that my reaction to the Ventres reveal was "Oh, of course it's a bloody Space Marine..."
