Yeah yeah, giant spiders. Look up the Great Emu War of the 1920s for instances of Australia trying to defeat it's wildlife and failing miserably.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (20 November 2017 - 03:41 AM)

Australia is still fighting their war on Giant Spiders.

@  Pennpenn : (20 November 2017 - 01:58 AM)

The queue is pretty long, and I don't think Australia is going anywhere any time soon.

@  Bass X0 : (17 November 2017 - 04:57 PM)

Trying to stay awake at work or school is a lot like using your controller when it's on low battery

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 10:31 AM)

If you're used to doing it with tabs, that makes sense. It doesn't feel weird for me.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (17 November 2017 - 10:28 AM)

Also, it just feels weird if switching between webpages uses the same actions as switching between programs.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (17 November 2017 - 10:21 AM)

I switch between different things on the browser and click on various plugins and stuff far more often than switching from program to program.

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 10:19 AM)

Yeah I'm mostly just venting from frustration rather than trying to convince anyone, though @NotVeryNightly I will point out that the windows for the other programs I'm running are at the bottom of the screen as well.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (17 November 2017 - 10:09 AM)

Tabs are on the top, near the address bar, browser tools, plugins and whatnot so the cursor will be there frequently anyway. Switching windows would require going down the screen.

@  Shrug : (17 November 2017 - 10:03 AM)

I mean, you do you. No bigs. You've just got a fairly unique stance that surprised me.

@  Shrug : (17 November 2017 - 09:54 AM)

I haven't seen words on the bottom bar of the screen since XP.

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 09:13 AM)

All of which is put on the point that I don't care if people want to use tabs, I just want the option to not have them present for me on my browser.

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 09:12 AM)

@Shrug- A quick glance at the bottom of the screen shows me what is open and where. Load times are basically so trivial that the load indicator on a tab is something I didn't notice until you mentioned it. The "which instance is playing noise" is a fair point but has basically only really been approaching meaningful for me maybe twice in all the time tabs have existed.

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 09:07 AM)

@NotveryKnightly- I have never encountered a situation where that is true, especially given that tabs are on the other side of the screen to the other things I'm switching through.

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 09:06 AM)

@ Nevermore- The windows at the bottom have the names of the websites on them, presuming you don't collapse them.

@  Shrug : (17 November 2017 - 08:08 AM)

Geez, this is reminding me of the awful pre-tab days.

@  Shrug : (17 November 2017 - 08:07 AM)

I can look at the tab to see if it hasn't finished loading yet. Now you can see which tab is playing sound, so no need to hunt through windows to find a video ad that started playing.

@  Shrug : (17 November 2017 - 08:07 AM)

And a quick glance lets me know whats open and where. No clicking multiple windows hunting for something. No waiting for some window preview to pop up (which wasn't available when tabs first started.)

@  NotVeryKnightly : (17 November 2017 - 06:03 AM)

Switching between tabs is way quicker than between windows.

@  Nevermore : (17 November 2017 - 04:09 AM)

It's like having a clear structore with sub-directores, instead of just having all files on your computer stored in one giant directory.

@  Nevermore : (17 November 2017 - 04:08 AM)

This way, I can switch between windows and then select the tab, instead of always trying to remember which window is for which website.

@  Nevermore : (17 November 2017 - 04:07 AM)

I find one browser window with multiple tabs a lot easier to handle alongside other windows than multiple browser windows alongside other windows.

@  Nevermore : (17 November 2017 - 04:06 AM)

I find multiple tabs a lot more comfortable than multiple windows.

@  Nevermore : (17 November 2017 - 04:06 AM)

erm... no?

@  Pennpenn : (17 November 2017 - 03:26 AM)

On mobile devices and whatever I understand why tabs would be a thing, but on a full desktop browser it's just- "Hey, here's a thing that's kind of like opening a new window, but objectively worse in every practical way"

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (17 November 2017 - 01:41 AM)

tabs being wretched bs is definitely an opinion I've never seen before

@  RC85747 : (16 November 2017 - 08:25 AM)

@  Pennpenn : (16 November 2017 - 07:45 AM)

Yeah but that gets rid of everything else as well.

@  Pennpenn : (16 November 2017 - 04:15 AM)

I get that people like tabs. Fine. Whatever. I just detest the fact that most current browsers don't let you have the option of just hiding the bar away so I don't have to even think about the wretched bullshit things.

@  Pennpenn : (16 November 2017 - 04:06 AM)

Does anyone know of a browser that doesn't force tabs on you? Just... any sodding browser that doesn't have tabs.

@  BlackMax : (15 November 2017 - 06:31 PM)

I think lesbian ninjas is just an unmitigated good idea. *shrug*

I came up with lesbian ninjas, which were a specialized team of assassins with amazing hair and impeccable style. I scanned some of my drawings and mentioned them a few times on the ezboard 17 years ago, and people seemed to like the idea.

Update:

Greg Cipes will be voicing Michelangelo. If you don't recognize the name you'll probably recognize the voice; he was Beast Boy in Teen Titans and currently voices Kevin Eleven in Ben 10 Alien Force/Ultimate Alien.

Splinter will be voiced by Hoon Lee, whose name I don't recognize off the top of my head.

I think Greg Cipes will make a great Michelangelo.

The new show will be very influenced by the Fred Wolf cartoon. The Utroms will be known as The Kraang and they will work for the Shredder. They'll have robot bodies with the Kraang in the stomach similar to the classic Utroms and they will act as the Foot Soldiers (so a new take on the robot Foot Soldiers from the old cartoon).

This sounds bad. I'm all for mixing and matching elements for a new continuity, but that doesn't mean that the concepts should be put in a blender and re-glued afterwards.

Eh just have to wait and see. Utroms or Kraangs, name don't matter to me much. I just hope they don't try to make it overly campy like the Fred Wolf toon. Don't get me wrong the old toon was what got most of us into the turtles way back when but it's just painful to watch these days.

Though shout outs to Bebop and Rocksteady would be alright for me as long as they try an updated look for both. Do we have pics of anyone besides the turtles yet? Kinda curious to see how Shredder is coming along.

I am 100% okay with the new cartoon doing a spin on the Fred Wolf characterizations and cast. Archie's TMNT Adventures title was an alternate take on the Fred Wolf characters and was excellent. I imagine the new show will be like Fred Wolf, but with more modern animation storytelling techniques (and actual effort with the scripts, not just David Wise recycling the same plots for 190 episodes).

After the 4Kids series, I really don't want to see another take on the Mirage comics and storylines exclusively. I'm ready for a new take on the Fred Wolf characterizations.

I'm not really wanting a rehash of the Mirage storylines either. The 4kids series did an excellent spin on that. But on the other hand I don't want any of the villians to become comedy relief pieces for 50 % of the show. I have a hard time watching the FW series now because I hate how Shredder is characterized in the majority of the series.Other than a handful of episodes with some favorite characters appearing I really can only stand the first 2 seasons and the Red Sky episodes without the turtles mutating. I like having the villain that actually feels like he can threaten the heroes in some way. Shredder in the old toon lost that for a long time until he blew up Channel 6. Plus I hope that Casey comes in early in season 2 because I like having a supporting cast larger than April. I think the cartoon I'd really like to see really would be more of a continuation of the Imagi film.

Besides, if we should avoid using ideas from Transformers just because a cartoon was awful, we'd never see anything from G1!

"Disabled people donít have special needs. We have very reasonable human needs. Our needs include freedom from abuse, violence, and mistreatment, the right to autonomy and self-direction, the right to represent ourselves, equal opportunity for education and employment, the right to accommodation, and societal inclusion and acceptance.

The need for accommodation isnít a ďspecial needĒ. Itís a basic human right. Itís a leveling of the playing field that allows us the same opportunities and chances as non-disabled people."

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Fred Wolf elements coming back. There were some fine concepts in there, and I actually miss Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady. I just don't know why the foot soldiers, Krang and the Utrom race all have to be the same (group) entity. It just seems like a waste of concepts to merge all those elements, rather than use them separately.

I agree that beyond the opening miniseries, the Fred Wolf cartoon is almost entirely insipid and unwatchable, but I don't think that warrants discarding all the characters and plot scenarios just because they were squandered by typical 80s cartoon storytelling.

As mentioned, the Archie comic spun out from the Fred Wolf cartoon (branching in a different direction after "The Incredible Shrinking Turtles") and made much better use of the ideas from the series thanks to serialized storytelling and less restrictions and censorship.

They were able to use the idea of Krang as an intergalactic warlord to more threatening effect (before they wrote him out) and though Bebop and Rocksteady's comedic elements were retained, they were still threatening and powerful (before they were, again, written out by the #20s). Shredder started out goofy but by the #30s became the best incarnation of the character we'd see until the 4Kids series, being very comptent and villainous. TMNT Adventures also made great use of the idea of Splinter being Hamato Yoshi to the point where, well, I actually prefer it over the Mirage idea of Splitner being an ordinary rat (heresey, I know).

And for a kid's cartoon, I think making the Foot Soldiers robots (or Utroms in exosuits) is a smart move, as it lets the Turtles USE their weapons. When they're humans, all of a sudden all Raph and Leo can do is cut ropes on chandeliers and deflect laser blasts. Make em robots and they can hack and slash to their hearts content!

I think ignoring the ideas created for the Fred Wolf series just because that cartoon was awful would be "throwing the baby out with the bath water", as it were, especially when we already have a perfectly good example of how those plots and characterizations can be effectively handled by writers that, well, give a crap.

Ok after the wall of Quote here. icon-fire.gif

I think I needed to check out the Archie comics a bit more there. I only got one issue and I believe it was the end of the intro of the Mutianimals. I remember Cudly taking the turtles away somewhere. But other than that I think the only other comic I saw had April turn into a turtle with a white headband. Still I do like someof the elements of the show. I want Bebop and Rocksteady. I want Krang. I want a busty April in a tight yellow jumpsuit with the zipper not all the way zipped icon-silverbolt.gif icon-blitz.gif

But then again I don't want the villains to be buffons all the time. I want the turtles to use their Weapons on the Foot. And layoff the Pizza jokes.

I'm amused at what a reversal it is from the 4Kids series: From brain-shaped alien piloting a robot in its stomach commanding human ninjas to human commanding brain-shaped aliens piloting robots in the stomach.

Well, "deadlier", yeah, but their foes are going to be primarily robots, so I don't think they'll be killing anyone with em.

Well, if the Foot Soldiers are robots, then they had better bring back Krang.

*pout* between Thundercats and this, I guess I'm gonna have to cave sooner rather than later and finally see about getting U-verse. (Cable can just go and *insert graphic actions that would get me banned if I listed them here*).

I'm psyched about this. For one thing, it says that the Turtles aren't going anywhere. Like Transformers, the turtles may change from series to series, but it's become a franchise that (in one form or another) seems to be here for the long haul. I can't count that as anything but a good thing.

I grew up with the Fred Wolf cartoon, which, while hard to watch now, is what got me and most of my generation into the TMNT in the first place. The Archie comics were nice in taking the Fred Wolf cartoon and maturing it a bit for the fans who had grown up a tad after watching the cartoon.

I've also read quite a few of the Mirage comics, which were also nice in their own dark and gritty way. The 2K3 cartoon was also a nice blend of the old Mirage comics and going its own way.

Thing is, I've seen all these now. I don't need yet another revision of the old Mirage comics. I've seen it before. I don't need a revision of the old Fred Wolf cartoon. I've seen it before.

I like the way this seems to be going, taking bits and pieces from each of the old iterations and making something new with them.

I also wouldn't mind seeing an updated Rocksteady and Bebop...heck, Tokka and Rahzar would be nice too. I'm guessing Ninjara would be a bit much to ask for, though.
How about we start with your complete and total surrender?

Goddamnit are voice actors awesome. Him especially. I wonder....do they just have parties and do the voices of their characters interacting...that'd be awesome.

Course, I bet they just have lame, normal people parties like everyone else....sigh.

Looks like a proxy 3d model used for massing in animations.

I wouldn't take that design too seriously just yet.
