There was that short story where she jumped off Icecrown and saw what was waiting for her on the other side.
Oh right. Arthas was there too, wasn't he? I'm not sure why she's really surprised at that, given the dark magic used to taint her soul upon resurrection.
It just hit me. They actually managed to cheapen Sylvanas' character moreso there. She gets a "Get out of limbo" card twice over thanks to the Valkyr and becomes absolutely terrifying of dying again, which leads her to make a deal with Helya to capture and corrupt Odyn's Valkyr. Meanwhile, Illidan willingly becomes Sargeras' jailer.
Good job Blizzard, you made Sylvanas a spineless coward and turned Illidan into a tragic hero. YOU GOT THE STORIES MIXED UP BLIZZARD! Also talk about a hint of misogyny there. Illidan gets his entire narrative retconned to be the Big Damn Hero, while Sylvanas gets the Garrosh treatment.
Also there was the story where she tried to convince Varessa to abandon her kids and live with Sylvanas in Undercity This would also have involved Varessa being killed and raised by Sylvanas, something Varessa did not know about. Varessa turning Sylvanas down made Sylvanas even more psychotic, and pretty much fully set her on her nihilistic path she is on now.
...I'd managed to forget about that aspect of the Trial of Garrosh. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to start drinking alcohol until I forget it again.
