Wife and I finally caught Detective Pikachu...pretty good crowd for a matinee (About a quarter full).
It was a good, fun, wholesome film. Had some story beats that came as genuine surprises but looking back at the movie all the clues to said story beats were there from the get go, I appreciate that in a film. The actors had a very "Kid Movie" introduction and acting, but by the time Ryan Renolds hits the screen that seems shaken off.
Probably the most fun, for me, was the revelation that Loudred play Dubstep when rabid. Shame we didn't get a Whismur or Exploud, but I'm more than happy my favorite Pokemon line of all time got some representation.
Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at ya / It's only this moment, don't care what comes after
Your fever dream, can't you see it getting closer / Just surrender 'cause you feel the feeling taking over
It's fire, it's freedom, it's flooding open / It's a preacher in the pulpit and you'll find devotion
There's something breaking at the brick of every wall, it's holding All that you know
So tell me do you wanna go?
