I was quite surprised at her interest in the castle. She wanted to help me at every step of getting it assembled. She kept asking questions about why things looked a certain way and what purpose they served. Then she started playing with it when I stepped out of the room and I just had to laugh. Here is my favorite pic from that night (Daddy, I'm in the castle!):

Man, I am a sucker for some neat Lego minifig custom sticker sheets. I was in trouble when I saw these.

Don't show me those.
I don't need more ridiculous things to buy.

Damn you guys and your great and adorable pictures.
Now I've gone and convinced the wife to get me a Castle for a birthday/anniversary gift next year. I seriously have no earthly idea where I'm going to put it.

My wife and I were watching Phelous review the Christmas Special the other night, and she brought up a good question: What exactly did cause the line to end, anyway? Was it Transformers? The question came up after the bit about how robots who transform are really evil, and I honestly can't recall.
I wanted to say the movie, but that came well after the MOTU cartoon ended, didn't it? Maybe not She-Ra: PoP, but He-Man's cartoon for sure.

A bunch of factors for MOTU ending were mentioned in the first paragraphs here . Apparently flooding the market with far more product than demand required hurt the line too.

Honestly, I think it had also pretty much run it's course at the time. They had enjoyed great success for years, but the basic premise had already been stretched to it's extremes in regard to what gimmicks could be included. After all, they were down to including barbarian cowboys, Transformers knockoffs that were just rocks and a random dude holding a big clamp. As wonderfully goofy as it was, kids didn't really see much appeal in that.

So I finally got around to opening my Castle Grayskull. First of all, wasn't it supposed to come in some protective mailer box? Mine didn't, and thankfully, I'm not a MISB collector, or else I would have been a little irked.
I think my favourite part of the castle is the golden skulls. Silly, I know, but it's neat to put heads up on the "pikes" of the lift. Also, as much as I like Standor as he was released, slapping on a golden head to the body and putting the Standor helmet on it makes for a really neat looking figure. It's like Cosmic God Skeletor or something. King He-Man looks good sitting on the throne. It just sucks that you have to remove his cape-attached armour in order to do so. Why his cape isn't detachable, I'll never know.
Now I need to go dig all my MOTUC figures out of storage so that they can move into their new castle.
