@  Nevermore : (20 September 2019 - 06:46 PM)

In case anyone's wondering.

@  Nevermore : (20 September 2019 - 06:46 PM)

Also, she pronounces her own name "Zuh-see".

@  TM2-Megatron : (20 September 2019 - 03:04 PM)

I think I'd read a while back she was born in Berlin

@  TM2-Megatron : (20 September 2019 - 03:04 PM)

I thought Zazie Beetz was really fantastic in Deadpool 2. Really looking forward to seeing her in Joker.

@  Liege : (20 September 2019 - 12:05 PM)

Any sightings of Ratchet at U.S. Walgreens yet? A couple of stores around me have recently restocked their toy aisles but no Ratchets yet at those ones.

@  Nevermore : (20 September 2019 - 03:54 AM)

You don't even hear a hint of an accent, and she only very rarely chooses some odd wording where she probably wasn't familiar with the more appropriate alternative due to its relative obscurity.

@  Nevermore : (20 September 2019 - 03:41 AM)

Just watched what's possibly the most relaxed interview ever of a German Youtuber interviewing Zazie while walking around Berlin. Turns out she was born in Berlin and spent quite some time in Germany.

@  Nevermore : (20 September 2019 - 03:39 AM)

Actors and actresses I had no idea speak fluent German, part 4.231: Zazie Beetz from Deadpool 2.

@  Benbot : (18 September 2019 - 02:14 PM)

It's too bad it's like this because some of what they're doing with tiny cars is pretty cool, but I'm not willing to sign up for that f-ing hassle.

@  Benbot : (18 September 2019 - 02:13 PM)

At this point I'm trying to decide how much of a markup I'm willing to pay some scalper scum or if I should just say to hell with it.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (18 September 2019 - 02:11 PM)

That is pretty much the constant story with Hot Wheels. Anything you might actually want has most likely been picked clean and marked up.

@  Benbot : (18 September 2019 - 02:02 PM)

I've been watching some Youtube Hot Wheels videos out of boredom and discovered there exists a new car that just came out maybe a month ago that looks just like one I had when I was little, and I've been looking around hoping to get it. Slim picking everywhere, but online there are a slew of sellers asking for 3 and 4x the retail price, plus a hefty shipping markup.

@  Benbot : (18 September 2019 - 01:59 PM)

Oh, that explains the problem I've encountered with finding one little car

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 September 2019 - 01:31 PM)

Oh boy. I work at Target, and literally every single morning, there are two or three guys outside who make a beeline straight to the Hot Wheels.

@  Steevy Maximus : (18 September 2019 - 01:00 PM)

Which collecting community has the worst scalpers?

@  TM2-Megatron : (17 September 2019 - 09:55 PM)

I've never read the source material and don't know much about it, but I enjoyed the first film quite a bit, and found the second alright

@  Sabrblade : (17 September 2019 - 09:49 PM)

The first movie was definitely not for me. I flat out hated it. Didn't even bother with the sequel.

@  Maruten : (17 September 2019 - 05:02 PM)

I liked the first movie a lot and enjoyed the original volume of the book, and the way they were developed in parallel was really interesting. It all got super extra unpleasant as soon as they went back though. I don't remember really whether the initial sequels are "good" or not, but either way both the second movie and the second run of the book quickly demonstrated that the property sure wasn't for me.

@  Paladin : (17 September 2019 - 04:45 PM)

i have a real hard time offering praise of anything connected to an utter shitstain like Mark Millar.

@  Rycochet : (17 September 2019 - 01:23 PM)

Kick Ass 2 was okay for what it was, a sequel to a film that was okay, just okay. It had a good performance from Nic Cage while the sequel had Jim Carrey who decided he didn't want to promote it after one of america's regularly scheduled massacres.

@  Benbot : (17 September 2019 - 12:20 PM)

Was Kick Ass 2 really that bad? I never got around to seeing it, but after watching the first movie again the other day, I'm thinking about it.

@  wonko the sane? : (13 September 2019 - 01:54 PM)

Why do you feel a need to label yourself for doing something harmless?

@  Telly : (13 September 2019 - 11:10 AM)

@  Benbot : (13 September 2019 - 10:49 AM)

am I a basic bitch for only browsing the front page of Reddit?

@  Shrug : (12 September 2019 - 12:26 PM)

I managed to find about 2/3s of my goal Sega Genesis collection before the last price bump

@  Anonymous X : (12 September 2019 - 11:11 AM)

So relieved that I picked up most of my NTSC GameCube collection in 2010/11 before prices on the secondary market went bezerk...

@  unluckiness : (12 September 2019 - 12:54 AM)

I have fond memories of it since it was the last console Mario Kart that didn't have the ridiculous pre-race cart assembly

@  TM2-Megatron : (11 September 2019 - 10:26 PM)

Like many Gamecube games, underrated

@  unluckiness : (11 September 2019 - 09:24 AM)

@  Bass X0 : (11 September 2019 - 07:43 AM)

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 September 2019 - 04:17 AM)

@  NotVeryKnightly : (11 September 2019 - 04:10 AM)

@  Nevermore : (11 September 2019 - 03:20 AM)

Now where did that come from, Bass X0?

@  TM2-Megatron : (10 September 2019 - 11:10 PM)

If you owe, you're expected to actually pay it at the time you file, before they even process your return

@  TM2-Megatron : (10 September 2019 - 11:10 PM)

If you file electronically, I find you usually get your refund within a couple weeks

@  Nevermore : (10 September 2019 - 06:22 PM)

Well, lucky it took less than two months for me. For a little over 200 Euros.

@  wonko the sane? : (10 September 2019 - 06:11 PM)

Pretty much, yeah. Canada revenue will be all up your ass if you earn less than 200K and owe tax, but your refund is basically "duke nukem forever".

@  Nevermore : (10 September 2019 - 05:34 PM)

Whereas if you overpaid and they have to refund you, they will take their sweet time to let you know.

@  Nevermore : (10 September 2019 - 05:34 PM)

Like, here in Germany, if the tax authority responds to your tax report quickly, you can rest assured they want more money.

@  Nevermore : (10 September 2019 - 05:33 PM)

Do tax authorities in other countries base their time to respond to filed tax reports on whether they owe or are owed as well?

@  wonko the sane? : (10 September 2019 - 11:13 AM)

Check what the requirements are for your cad program, and try to beat them by about 20%, and understand that software requirements have been stable for a few years: not really keeping up with the advancements in hardware. Unless you're doing something SPECIFIC which requires ludicrous amounts of power, just give your self a cushion on hardware and don't bother going whole hog.

@  Benbot : (10 September 2019 - 10:16 AM)

What I'm currently using is an i5 2018 Surface Laptop. My current desktop is all but dead. I think in the end affordability will win out over specs. I need to use CAD programs, but I'm a student, not a professional.

@  wonko the sane? : (10 September 2019 - 10:06 AM)

Okay. Whats the specs on the I7 and what are you currently using?

@  Benbot : (10 September 2019 - 09:23 AM)

@  Steevy Maximus : (09 September 2019 - 11:52 AM)

I'm still waiting for my Matty AND Ebay shipments to arrive.

I'd ordered Dactus, Mantenna, and the Horde Troopers on Ebay the week before DOS just in case I couldn't get on at noon. It's a good thing I did because when I got on at 12:05 the Troopers were already gone. I ordered a weapons pack and another Mantenna for a bud and called it a day.

"Intergalactic" Skeletor (New Adventures Skeletor)  Also has a pic of a pack in battle damaged Faker head.

I love this figure!  The details look great, and it makes me actually think NA Skeletor looks like a badass. :thumbsup

On the one hand Intergalactic Skelator looks great.

On the other hand his other NA Look, with the full body armor and Box-Helmet was the one we had as kids so I'm sad that this is almost certainly the only NA version we get. Le sigh.

-ZacWilliam, still better than no NA Skeletor. I still have to get NA He-man at some point...

They're committed to recreating the entire original MOTU and She-Ra toylines, with a sprinkling of NA, 200X and Other. I can't see why Flutterina would be a surprise.

This version of Skeletor was a lot more common than the other two versions.  So for the longest time this was the only one you could find in stores or kids even had.  Granted he only appeared in like 6 episodes of the show, but I have a lot of fondness for this design.  Especially since the figure is more based on the toy than the cartoon.

The new version looks fantastic (though I'm not sure about the cape) and a great addition to the line.  I'm glad they kept all the cyberborg parts.

Yeah, I kind of wish they'd done the design he spent 90% of the show using.

I'm surprised to see this abomination before a more iconic figure like Angella.  I'm surprised that a primarily male-geared action figure line has continued to pump out no less than 6 POP Barbies from 2012-2013.  I'm annoyed that I'm essentially paying $40 for a figure that I will never display on my shelves, and then when I see the Mini-Comic Artwork for possible figures during the Comikaze panel, it just adds insult to injury that we're getting a glorified butterfly Barbie doll with a sword over some really awesome MOTU warrior.

It seems like maybe you shouldn't have bought a subscription. What you're looking for would surely have been better served by buying the specific figures you wanted at day-of-sale, and picking up any exclusives on the secondary market like at BBTS. What they're doing now for releases is exactly what they've said they're going to do for the entire duration of the MOTUC line, and getting a bunch of She-Ra characters in close proximity was inevitable the moment they said they were going to wrap up the vintage releases by the end of 2015 instead of stretching it to 2017.

Angella was always going to be made. Peekablu was always going to be made. Ninjor and Dragstor and Flogg and Rio Blast were always going to be made. The only thing in question was the order in which they'd come out. There really shouldn't have been any surprises there for you at all, unless they DID make a new minicomic guy.

TNI has the panel here:  http://toynewsi.com/...57&itemid=21368  The Mini-Comic stuff starts ~35:20.

I would love to day-of stuff, but my work schedule doesn't allow it.  Surprisingly, the subscription service is the best option for me due to work.  However, it does mean that I get occasional figures that I don't want.  Sometimes, I end up liking them anyway (like the Fighting Foe Men, strangely enough).  I even like the kitschy oddballs like Standor and Mo-larr.

2014 is shaping up to being pretty POP and NA heavy.  I don't have any particular attachment to NA since I've never seen the show.  My POP tastes only go as far as the core Filmation cast.  As an adult, I think the She-Ra cartoon is actually better than the original MOTU one.  Scorpia, Madame Razz, and Glimmer are fine by me.  No qualms.  They were in enough of the cartoons to warrant their entries into the line.  I would consider them essential.

Yet, I still see no need to have a silly butterfly, mermaid or peacock Barbie in a MOTU collection.

And the vocal minority continually clamouring for them just seem to make my brain bleed.

I'm not really for them or against them. I like the goofy, crazy figures in the line, and the ladies are mostly just...there. But we all knew they were coming, so I can't complain when we get them!

There were a ton of things I wanted to respond to in this post, but I'll keep it limited to the most egregious. Full disclosure, I never cared about She-Ra beyond the Secret of the Sword movie (that I was excited to see in the theater) and the Christmas special because it was hilarious. I owned all of two NA figures: Wave 1 He-Man and Skeletor.

You are saying 2014 is PoP and NA heavy? Probably has something to do with the fact that 2008-2013 was comparatively PoP and NA light. This year is arguably the MOST in-spirit of what they have been claiming the line would be since day one. Pretty much anyone in waves 1 and 2 of PoP had at least a decent chance to be made, as did wave 1 of NA.

As for what you consider "essential", I'm not sure that many would agree-since you JUST mentioned a nigh-complete lack of awareness of NA and a markedly limited PoP taste.

Considering the sculpting and articulation on the MOTUC figures, I think calling any of them "Barbies" is pretty insulting. And oddly enough, use of the term "vocal minority" makes my brain bleed. /hyperbole

If you wanted something different, there was always the option of preordering through BBTS or one of the many, many posters at He-man.org who buy scores of subs to "help the line" and sell only slightly over retail. They said throughout the sub drive that these next 2 years were intended to "finish off the unfinished". To cry foul over the inclusion of stuff like Peekablue while the vintage line got an elephant-headed man is kind of a joke.

Wow.  I think I may have just outgrown the MOTU market.  The day when support and demand for overtly feminine toys becomes the expected/acceptable norm is the day the line is no longer geared towards me.

I guess I'm in the minority now.

I guess I'm in the minority now.

Well, considering the fact that the "MOTU" market is decidedly different from the "MOTUC" market, it may just have never been for you. Considering the fact that over 130 individual figures have been released or revealed for this line and this one that has been revealed is your line in the sand, it's curious to say the least.

I mean, if this ONE figure is causing you so much angst, it's not like you couldn't just re-sell it. Or hell, you could make a statement and drop it in a trash can, realizing that it is a drop in the bucket for the money you saved on the secondary market by paying retail for Two-Bad alone (not to mention Modulok).

But no, complain that it is being made at all and give the middle finger to all the fans of "that other" property in the MOTUC umbrella who have bought the sub for years-under the promise of inclusion of their favorites-to support the production of crap like GyGor. I don't give the tiniest crap about PoP, but this kind of attitude about the MOTUC property and the people who have supported it with thousands of dollars over the years is really lousy.

Hasn't this line been going long enough that Princess of Power and New Adventures characters are pretty much overdue? I don't know how many characters are left from the original MOTU line, but surely they now have more spinoff-based stuff to do.

Yeah GyGor is fantastic.  Way better than Shadow Beast in my opinion.

I think someone counted that there are 18 figures left to do from the original MOTU and Princess of Power lines.  That's not including New Adventures or anything from 2002.  Or variants like Flying Fists He-Man, etc.
