open ended games and the roles we play...

I was mostly good, though I did trade in for a new wife halfway through, which did tarnish me a bit. Though in my defense she was pretty hot and stacked. And before that, this shephard accidently caught on fire, so yeah. Slightly tarnished.
But considering how much I hated losing my minions, I was definitely in the mindset of being a good Overlord.
But if I'm in a strategy/Civilization type game, there is no mercy for my neighbors. I rarely make with the diplomacy, and instead just bulldoze through with the fires of hell until all have fallen. In that case you could probably refer to me as being very evil.

Usualy in a game I start out trying to play evil and then more gravitate towards doing whats best/nessary for 'me' as the character to accomplish their goals. Like in Mass effect, on Feros I didnt really go out of my way to save anyone. I tried at first but once I ran out of those knock out grenades I didnt really hesistate to mow them down to get through instead of reloading my save and trying to do it non fataly again. I had a mission to complete and i was going to do what it took.

It can be used to exorcise, explore and come to terms with negative feelings.
For other people, though, there are things their moral compass just will not let them feel comfortable with doing, even in make believe.
