I really like the main character for some reason, he's just kinda, gel-ing.
Ranka is wonderful, and Sheryl is pretty bitchy.
Plus, Aya Hirano and Kaori Fukuhara are voicing some Bridge Operators, which really satisfies the Lucky Star fan in me.
So anybody else want to share their thoughts?
PM me if you're bored!

Sheryl Nome is the GARest diva I've ever seen. Alto used her own words to justify joining SMS. Her lastname being Nome could mean she's a decendant of Mao Nome of Macross Zero.
Ranka is cute, you just have a feeling she's Anima Spiritia singer given the Vajra reacts to her.
Mikhail is a sniper playboy version of Max Jenius.
As for the enemy the Vajra certainly related to the Protoculture with the spiral makings.
Tech wise it is reminicent of the birdman doomday wewapon of Macross Zero.
I'm expecting Meltrandi Red Queadluun-Rau Klein Klan for epic lulz in ep 4.
Heh she's supposed to be Millia's version in Macross Frontier. In fact she's shown twice in the Op.
Mikhail can't hit her as he would like but he has fun teasing her.

It's much more better than the broadcasted one.
Though I'm sure once the DVD hits they'll combine the scenes.

I have heard that the japanese DVD will include a fused ep 1 that combines the Deculture version with broadcast ep 1.

Not just DVD - they've announced that on Blu-Ray, too. And, given how nice this show looks on TV, it's probably going to be amazing in high definition. Just... Maybe not amazing enough to pay Japanese BR prices for a single episode.
The same reason nothing Macross has made it over in the last few years, aside from the original series - nobody is willing to deal with the absolute mess the rights to the franchise are, over here.

I do have a few questions:
Macross 7 was set on 2045, and Macross Frontier is set on 2059. Macross 7 has the 37th colonial fleet while Macross Frontier has the 25th colonial fleet. So my question is, why did the 37th came before the 25th???? shouldn't that be the other way around??? Did they ever explain what happened to the Macross 7 fleet??? I know Battle 7 was destroyed as well as City 7 (I think) but they still have some escort ships, did they just turned around and headed back to Earth???
What is the main plot of Macross Frontier???
On a different note: did they ever explain what happened to the SDF-2??? Why is everyone going to the center of the universe??? what's the big deal there???

On a side note of niftyness, I love all the little allusions to the previous shows.
Sherryl "Listen to my song!"
The stunt team doing the same manuvers as Isamu
The cola machines
Alto pretty much doing the same big moment as Hikaru
The initial diaspra map shows the early colonization of Eden, etc.
So far all I have seen is the Deculture version, so I take it there are diffirent scenes in the normal broadcast one not in the Deculture? Oy..more web searching ahead.

The battle lines are drawn as the Love Triangle begins!
Alto x Sheryl date
Giant Zentrandi, giant space cow-hippo hybrids, giant panties and Mikhail being discrete as a mouse around a giant Klein Klan.
Not to mention Ranka pulling a Macross 7 Encore.

Today I'm looking up info on the VF-25 designs when I end up on Macross World, see the sweet 1/60 YF-19 design I'd missed out on seeing and that they're making new 1/60 VF-1 toys with 'perfect transformation' which would be a great scale for hanging out with transformers. Suddenly this went from brief flirtation of interest into expensive prospects and many hours of watching to be had.
Though the new 1/60 VF-1S would be a great size to replace the classics Jetfire I'm selling my brother (albeit a replacement many times more expensive than the replaced)... Just have to work on my painting skills between now and then...

But in the current, digitized world, trivial information is accumulating every second, preserved in all its triteness. Never fading, always accessible. Rumors about petty issues, misinterpretations, slander... All this junk data preserved in an unfiltered state, growing at an alarming rate. It will only slow down social progress, reduce the rate of evolution. You seem to think that our plan is one of censorship. What we propose to do is not to control content, but to create context.

Next year sometime I bet. If ever. Or i you want it in straight-up Japanese I guess its doable during this year if you want to pay an outrageous sum.
Giant space bugs known as "Vajra" are attacking the 25th colonial fleet Macross Frontier. The government is hushing it up and soliciting the millitary supplement company SMS to fight them since they have superior equipment. During all this we have a love triangle between a galactic pop-diva, a kabuki performer turned pilot-in-training and a waitress with singer dreams.
It all ties up in different ways. Trust me.
No. Still lost. But it whas going to the center of the galaxy. As in the place the Frontier is going and the origin of the Protoculture.
If we'll ever get answers, this series is a good bet. It IS the 25th anniversary after all.
Center of the galaxy. See ^

Yes, did you have to ask?
It wasn't cut from the broadcasted version.
Macross Frontier is an interesting place. A mix of San Francisco and Shibuya.
Also those other biospheres being homes of full sized Zentrandi that chose not to micronized.
You can see Sheryl really have fun there in episode 5.
