I might need to update my software, or they face regional limitations, cause I found no evidence of either.

DUDE! Starcom and COPS are on Tubi too!

@  Steevy Maximus : (20 February 2020 - 09:29 PM)

Spiffy! The english dub of Bubblegum Crisis on Tubi. It's gotten so hard to find these oldies on modern streaming services.

And now I know and now I know and now I know that you can hear me, know that you can hear me, know that you can hear me.

Oh, oh, people can you hear me? People can you hear me? People can you hear me?

@  TheMightyMol... : (19 February 2020 - 03:53 PM)

Oh boy, here we go.

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:34 PM)

Or do Japan's cultural values vary depending on exactly who you're trying to shut down?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:33 PM)

Could it be that, perhaps, these different cultural values might lead to a different approach seeming appropriate?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:32 PM)

Hm. Back when we were arguing about the Legends comic, I seem to recall being repeatedly told that Japan had different cultural values than the US (and therefore anyone who had a problem with anything at all was wrong to voice that opinion ever).

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:23 AM)

Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, every single anime character is built to suit the audience's tastes so they buy more merch/do other things that allow $$$ to flow in the production committees direction, so the authenticity is certainly not for representation's sake.

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:18 AM)

Both those anime air at midnight and are aimed at a very specific audience in a whole other media landscape. Major projects have press releases about almost everything, and there are groups just waiting to pat anybody on the back for doing what they want (GLAAD, HRC, etc)

@  B-Fox : (19 February 2020 - 03:16 AM)

It's funny that a friggin' anime about zombie idols and an anime about a school of anthropomorphic animals can have really positive trans characters WITHOUT a press release about their inclusion in the series prior to the episodes airing or having the creators announcing it on social media and patting themselves on the back for doing a thing.

Vegan meat needs bacon

@  Paladin : (18 February 2020 - 08:43 PM)

vegan meat must taste delicious. they're grass-fed and regularly exercised....

@  wonko the sane? : (18 February 2020 - 06:57 PM)

Vegans are better than kids if you don't talk to them. They'll keep the lawn trimmed anyway.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 February 2020 - 06:02 PM)

Do you want vegans? Because that's how you get vegans.

@  CORVUS : (18 February 2020 - 04:33 PM)

Hook up your sprinkler system to a canister of healthy organic carrot-juice. The kids won't be able to get off your lawn fast enough.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 February 2020 - 03:59 PM)

Just use the hose.

@  wonko the sane? : (18 February 2020 - 03:52 PM)

Ask bing. It'll be a FAR more effective answer.

@  TrnsfrmGod : (18 February 2020 - 03:26 PM)

Google, how do I get those durned kids off my lawn?

@  TrnsfrmGod : (18 February 2020 - 03:26 PM)

Japan seems to have a tradition of murder things where cellphones facilitate the killing instead. Like King's Game and Doubt.

@  TheMightyMol... : (16 February 2020 - 05:17 PM)

Or there's just conveniently no reception, or all of their phones are dead at the same time. Or they're just stupid and forget about them.

@  Patch : (16 February 2020 - 04:41 PM)

Now the slasher villain has to go and knock over the nearest cell tower before butchering horny teenagers.

@  TheMightyMol... : (16 February 2020 - 03:54 PM)

Think of all the horror and mystery movies that involve the bad guys cutting the phone line. Now think about how many people don't even have a land line to cut anymore.

@  Telly : (16 February 2020 - 03:47 PM)

its like that scene in commando. the bad guy has to get to a phone to call the big bad to tell him arnold isnt on the plane. that wouldnt happen today

I watched this amazing video where millions of crabs are migrating across some road in Cuba and this car just plows right through. A quarter mile of crunch time. Then they close up on a survivor picking at and eating a smooshed crab who
looks exactly like the mustached old man from the Muppets.

That really brightened an otherwise crappy day.

Got my brother all moved into his new house today. Gonna reward myself with ben and jerry's after dinner. Not a bad day at all despite the arm cramps.

Alright, so... and I know no one wants to hear this on the 24th of october, but my christmas shopping has officially begun! And I am actually about two months late this year. Anyway, I got my nephew a nice low end graphics card for his desktop which we got him for his birthday.

Gonna split the card with my brother: so I'm helping more than just myself with this.

I just got a consultation for the laser eye surgery clinic. Hopefully, I'll be able to schedule the surgery proper for late this year, early next and rid myself of these twice damned glasses.

I don't mind having glasses, but other eye issues mean that laser surgery might help in the long term. Would still rather try other options first.

I just spent a half an hour on the phone helping my 11 year old nephew start doing a power point project for school. I hate talking on the phone, but I love that kid, so it was worth it.

Thankfully, I got the SSD in my computer and built his with a gaming rated mechanical drive. So I was able to do things pretty much simultaneous to him, but still faster. Really smoothes out the process when only one of you needs to wait for the computer to respond.

So I've schedule my surgery... now I just need to work out how to pay for it.

No, I don't mean I'm broke: I mean literally how to get the coin to the doctor. My credit card's limit is less than the cost of the surgery, and debit cards have 1500 daily limit. I might need to go talk to my bank about it. Maybe see if they take cash, the payment forms are in the brief they gave me.

They could probably do a split payment, part on the credit, part on the debit, etc. Guessing check isn't an option.

They got a 12 month no interest thing rhrough my bank I'm going to call and ask about tomorrow: otherwise it's just a matter of being uncomfortable carting 4K through the subway. A cheque isn't an option as I don't actually have any, and couldn't get them in time for the surgery anyway.

Today's the day! I get my laser surgery. I want to say I'm excited, but it's been so long since I've actually been excited about something that I'm not sure what that feels like anymore.

Frankly: I'm having a hard time believing this will actually achieve anything. Everything I've tried to do for myself in the last few years that wasn't an outright failure has only been a mitigated success.

Had eye surgery once to fix issues w/ double vision/weak eye muscles. It was amazing being able to see properly, I had gotten so used to double vision that I didn't even realize how bad it was. It's coming back, though...

Guessing you're in recovery right now. Let us know how it went!

So do you want Blurry by Puddle of Mudd or Blurry(Out of Place) by Crown the Empire?  Personally, I'd go for the latter but the former's good for some nostalgia kicks.

"everything blurry looks the same!"... No hugging shit there buddy. Any other pearls of wisdom for us? On a serious note: not a bad song and I think I'll look up the band when I have some free time. As for puddle of mud... that voice is familiar, and so is the song. Another one to look up.
