I dunno if to call them the worst salesperson ever or the best.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 April 2021 - 01:33 PM)

They must not have really wanted to sell you anything.

@  Sabrblade : (16 April 2021 - 09:19 AM)

This just happened to be the first time one ever gave up and walked away immediately after ringing the bell. Like, no patience at all or something.

@  Sabrblade : (16 April 2021 - 09:17 AM)

Covid didn't stop salespeople from coming to my neighborhood. They are still a consistent annoyance.

@  wonko the sane? : (16 April 2021 - 08:16 AM)

Random like "Why does god allow terrible things?" or random like "You can see them too?!?"?

door to door salesmen (or those offering religion) certainly are one of the things lost to COVID that I've missed the least

A comic, yes, but we need a figure!

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (13 April 2021 - 06:27 AM)

No.. It's Tiberious Maximus... And there is a comic with such already. :D

@  Donocropolis : (12 April 2021 - 11:15 AM)

Yes. Color it like the Energon version of Unicron. Also, give us Fortress Tiberious.

@  wonko the sane? : (12 April 2021 - 09:49 AM)

Great. Now I want a borg cube unicron...

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 April 2021 - 09:00 AM)

We still need Transformers x Star Trek toy.

@  TheMightyMol... : (12 April 2021 - 05:39 AM)

I saw most of them at retail at TRU, but that's not an option in the US anymore.

@  tigerhawk : (12 April 2021 - 04:21 AM)

Dibs on naming the Ark robot Arkonus.

@  Kalidor : (11 April 2021 - 09:48 PM)

The only Titan figure I ever saw at retail was Trypticon at Ollie's

@  PlutoniumBoss : (11 April 2021 - 09:12 PM)

Robosen Prime has market crossover with not just the toy collectors, but robotics enthusiasts quite willing to pay that price for a product like this.

@  wonko the sane? : (11 April 2021 - 08:33 PM)

One of my two local TRUs will stock exactly ONE titan at a time. It usually ends up "clearanced" for about 20 bucks off cause no one is willing to pay for at full price OR discounted.

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 07:56 PM)

Most stores don't seem to want to stock Commanders or Titans, never mind Unicron.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (11 April 2021 - 07:55 PM)

I wonder if Unicron going to crowdfuning wasn't just a price issue but also stores not wanting to stock and transport something so huge.

@  TM2-Megatron : (11 April 2021 - 07:47 PM)

It is, although this thing could also be considered a STEM educational tool

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 07:33 PM)

Doesn't change the fact that, for most people, $700 is a pretty hefty investment for a toy.

@  TM2-Megatron : (11 April 2021 - 07:17 PM)

I dunno, $700 doesn't seem that bad for what it does. Some of those Masterpiece figures seem to go for at least half that price, and they don't have any actual robots or even electronics.

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 05:35 PM)

Not to mention wallet-shattering.

@  LBD "Nyt... : (11 April 2021 - 04:30 PM)

It's a jargon-shattering figure.

@  Kalidor : (10 April 2021 - 08:50 PM)

The licensed Optimus Prime that transforms itself is the appropriate usage of the term "Third Party"

@  Donocropolis : (10 April 2021 - 08:24 AM)

That Optimus isn't built by Hasbro, only licensed. The company that makes it has been making similar robots for years, so no crowdfundng required.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (10 April 2021 - 08:05 AM)

Apparently they're selling one for 74 and a half thousand dollars.

@  wonko the sane? : (10 April 2021 - 08:01 AM)

We could write boston dynamics and ask?

@  NotVeryKnightly : (10 April 2021 - 07:59 AM)

Granted, I'm not sure how much robots with elaborate movement tend to go for.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (10 April 2021 - 07:56 AM)

I think with actual robotics it was easier to justify selling it at a high cost, compared to an unusually large action figure.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (10 April 2021 - 05:06 AM)

It is a very impressive display of robotics though.

@  tigerhawk : (10 April 2021 - 04:52 AM)

What were they thinking with that self transforming Optimus? should have been another crowd funder for that price.

@  tigerhawk : (08 April 2021 - 03:33 PM)

I wish they'd rerelease Earthrise Ramjet and Dirge.

@  wonko the sane? : (08 April 2021 - 03:04 PM)

Yay! optimus primal just arrived. So now there's... nothing for me to look forward to till scorponok drops... hmmm, I didn't think this through properly...

@  wonko the sane? : (07 April 2021 - 04:26 PM)

It's an older title which recently got a remake so...

@  -LittleAutob... : (07 April 2021 - 01:10 PM)

Ah yes- I think I've heard of that game before. I may be thinking about something else though.

@  wonko the sane? : (07 April 2021 - 08:03 AM)

It's a video game. You get hired to revive and restore a series of derelict space stations.

I got this computer today. Is it any good? Anyone have any experience with Acer computers? I plan on using it to surf the web and watch streams.

I ask because I've heard of Acer products breaking soon after purchase, and I've heard horror stories about Acer's customer service.

You bought a computer and then asked for reviews?

I've had no significant problems with Acers over the years - no more or less so than most any other brand.

Was that a spur of the moment purchase?  You really should've researched before buying.  Less headaches that way.

I saw that it was considered the best budget computer on some sites (Well, the UA91 model was, but I figured that the UA92 model would be even better), and I saw that it had the Amazon's Choice label.

Word of advice.  Never trust the Amazon's Choice label or any other website's version of that.

Just found out my computer doesn't have a rear exhaust fan.

But was it supposed to come with one?  Do the core components still have their exhaust systems?

These sorts of mass market towers are generally serviceable, but certainly often lacking in some amenities.  So long as the key components have their fans, Acer may well have opted to omit any additional cooling with the rear exhaust vents typically just being venue for the release of warm air.  Without a dedicated GPU, these sorts of systems typically have enough space to circulate the air enough that you shouldn't need a big exhaust system.

We've had Acer products off and on, and have never had any over PROBLEMS with them.  But unless part of a special, you can generally find better values elsewhere.

In terms of THIS computer...it's okay.  For your posted activities, MORE than adequate.  But I think there were/are better options at a lower price point.  For one, anything with an AMD Ryzen is going to offer you superior performance and better integrated graphics performance.

https://www.lenovo.c...5/p/90Q20001US#

That one is cheaper with comparable components

Or Walmart has a gaming PC at the same price as the Amazon system, for that matter.

Acer can be a mixed bag. I have an Acer "Like a Surface but it's not" tablet that's been through hell and back with me on my job when I was doing onsite service calls. I have another laptop that happens to be an Acer that we were given when Kayla's uncle passed away a bit ago. I did a complete system restore on that but it still has problems of seizing up that I haven't bothered to troubleshoot yet.

Otherwise, this computer's specs seems fine for what you want to do but don't expect to play any video games on it unless you get a video card. The most notably odd thing to be about this is that it comes with an optical drive. Hardly ever see those anymore so I'm guessing this might be an older machine. In the end, I will go along with the others that it would have been better to research this prior to purchasing it. The good thing about Amazon though is you can probably just return it if you find a better deal from the suggestions above.

Either way, I can feel what you're feeling with buyer's remorse on such a big ticket item - but in the end if it does what you like and you don't have any issues the first 2 weeks of use it's probably going to be fine.

How can it be an older machine if it has 12 DDR4 GBs of RAM and an SSD?

Adding RAM and an SSD is pretty much the fundamental recipe for extending the life of older machines. That being said, PCMag rates the processor as decent, so that combined with the aforementioned components means it should do what you need for a number of years (assuming what you need isn't playing the hottest video games). And even then, you could get an older graphics card if you really wanted.

Most mainstream desktops seem to have optical drives.  I'm not sure optical drives add much to the value other than another feature box, but they seem pretty prevalent on average mainstream desktop systems.

They disappear when you start talking gaming machines or unique form factors like AIO or super small form factors.  And optical drives are pretty rare in the laptop sector these days.

I don't mean old like from 10 years ago - I just know I wanted to go buy a case to build a new PC and the places I shopped at like Micro Center had 20 different cases in various sizes and shapes and only ONE of them even had a front facing drive bay. And that one only had 1 - and I needed 3.

Laptops don't really come with them either. It's actually NOT an older machine, but the design that includes the optical drive seems older in practice.

I looked up your machine though and it looks like it came out in Q4 of 2020 so not old at all.

I always build my own PC's anyway, so its a moot point, but if I ever buy a PC without an optical drive, I'm going to be installing one.

Cyberpower is the company I've purchased my last two computers from. While when it arrives I generally have to tighten connections/reconnect parts that have come loose in shipping, I've never had issues with them and they're built to last.
