@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:41 AM)

Like, in general, not going into specific bands or covers. Because I could point out plenty of repainted toys I didn't like as much as the original, too.

@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:39 AM)

Is a musician covering a song "fixing" it?

@  Nevermore : (17 May 2021 - 05:15 AM)

So, then, isn't redecoing or retooling an existing toy also "fixing" someone else's art?

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 10:07 PM)

A toy is not on the same level as a piece of drawn art, true, but it is 100% an entertainment product.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 05:05 PM)

A toy is an object of utility, Comparing that to a piece of drawn art is grossly ignoring the difference between the two. Also, you didn't answer my questions. Try again.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:25 PM)

Part of the difference is that those covers are primarily one person's art. Sure, you probably have an inker and a colorist, but the lines and composition are one person. A toy however is a team design at pretty much all levels.

@  Cyoti : (16 May 2021 - 03:52 PM)

toymaking is a collaborative process, you have to make compromises and factories are going to get things wrong

@  tigerhawk : (16 May 2021 - 03:43 PM)

Earthrise had a few holes, Runamuck's legs YIKES!

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 03:37 PM)

I doubt that say, the designer for Kingdom Cheetor was happy about every bit of unpainted plastic on it.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:28 PM)

J Scott Campbell recently had his Spiderman cover "fixed" by someone online. A few weeks ago, someone on twitter "fixed" someone's Sonic the Hedgehog fan art where Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were drawn as humans. Both times and other times, the "fixer" gets called out and criticised as you shouldn't go around "fixing" someone else's art because its rude and disrespectful to the original artist. And I was thinking isn't "fixed your s*** for ya" exactly what toy customisers do?

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

Have you ever changed your car in any way whatsoever compared to the factory configuration, or are you leaving the designer's art unchanged in that case as well?

@  CORVUS : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

It's best not to ponder it too hard.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 04:16 AM)

Bass X0, I really wonder sometimes how you come up with these random tangents apropos of nothing.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:11 AM)

It's collaborative art.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 04:07 AM)

Toys are subject to budget constraints, so its not like customizing would ruin the designer's vision or whatever.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:38 AM)

Isn't customising a toy just "fixing other people's art"?

I wonder if anyone reappeared in the same spot they left, but now there's been a building put there and some awesome Philadelphia Experiment type stuff went down. Like, your wife is back, but she fused to this concrete pillar and died instantly.

Also, after Chadwick, it continues to scare me how skinny Don Cheadle is.

Cheadle has always been a skinny dude though, hasn't he?  He doesn't age either.  The man is 56 and he still looks the same as he did in Boogie Nights.

I can see it now, At first NuCap seems a lot like the old one, but more and more turns into the government stooge we know and hate. Has that starts to happen both Sam and Bucky each go toe to toe with The nuCap. Both get their assets handed to them, so they team up to take him down. They do so it looks like they are the bad guys so-taking the shield-they go on the run. NuCap ofcourse is sent after them, hijinks ensue.

Does NuCap have powers though?  I know he does in the comics, but the MCU implies that a perfect re-creation of the super soldier serum has consistently eluded them.  Does he get the same stuff that Emil Blonsky did in Ed Norton's Hulk movie?

No, from what I've read; He doesn't have powers. He's just like the best of the best when it comes to Marines; meaning he's a highly honed hunter and killer.

He doesn't have powers yet. I imagine if Zemo had a seemingly viable serum available, that could be the hook that brings US Agent into the principle conflict. And you KNOW a new Captain America is going to raise Zemo's bile.

Far From Home showed kids reappearing in the gym in the middle of the game. I believe Aunt May also mentioned reappearing in her apartment and scaring the new residents. And of course we saw Monica Rambeau reappear in the hospital room to much confusion.

I'd had the same question though. Someone suggested that Smart-Hulk could have been clever enough to wish everyone back "safely" and the gauntlet wouldn't have blipped people back into mid-air (if they'd been in an airplane), or in the middle of an intersection or whatever.

Speaking of Zemo (and therefore HYDRA), does the destruction of the soul stone mean that Red Skull can finally come back to Earth and regain his position as their leader?  He's one of Marvel's most iconic villains, so what's the point of leaving him on Vormir now?  They've already recast the part so it's not like we need Hugo Weaving.

Bonus points if there's a reunion with Cap when the soul stone is returned to Vormir before the events of Infinity War.

I think Red Skull's pretty much done in the MCU. His inclusion in Infinity War/Endgame was a cute easter egg, nothing more. Skull's not relevant now and frankly the Nazi angles especially in light of the past few years is probably a quagmire Marvel would be wise to avoid.

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

Indeed.

As we saw, the person who may or may not be the head of the Flag Smashers had superhuman strength. In the comics, John Walker was given superhuman strength via the work of Karl Malus. He was, in fact, significantly stronger than Captain America, who could press just over half a ton, versus John Walker, who could press 10 tons, at least on paper.

So, I'd be shocked if John Walker didn't end up getting a power-boost.

Oh Yeah, I'm fairly sure that by the end of the series John Walker will have powers, and either Falcon or Bucky will have  taken the title of Captain America (Feels more right for Bucky, imo with what's been set up here) and Walker becoming US Agent.

Standard TV/movie parsimony suggests that there will be SOME link between Flag Smasher and John Walker, especially if Walker gets powers.  Like, Flag Smasher was the first success of the process, or Flag Smasher has inborn powers but Zemo/Malus/whoever uses FS's genetic material to give Walker temporary powers, etc.  With six episodes and at least three antagonists, even if Zemo is more of a "barely shows up and is just there setting up season 2" deal, it's hard to justify them being independent of each other.

(I'd love it if they actually acknowledge Agents of SHIELD, and Flag Smasher is using a version of Centipede or some other Deathlok-related tech.)

Now, that's not to say people might have snapped back in potentially dangerous situations, like stuck inside a padlocked room in an abandoned house.  Might've taken a few days for people to realize they should check "abandoned" locations for returnees.

This is also how I view it being intended. He tracked him down to tell him, and was unable to bring himself to do it, and ended up becoming his friend in the process. Now it's become even harder for him to do it.
I finally got rid of that big white box.

Judging from just the first episode I expect Falcon to end up as the new Cap.

Just because the arcs set up for them here are, in broad strokes: Bucky - Making peace with sins of his assassin past, Sam - Dealing with not feeling right/up to carrying on Cap's legacy and seeing it given away when he passes.

Bucky can tie up his arc as presented without becoming Cap, but Sam's arc as it exists right now needs him to take back the Legacy and prove equal to it.

-ZacWilliam, of course there could be twists that change that up, and we could end up in different places by the end, but at this point after the first ep. Sam seems the one on the road to being Cap to me.

Sam should be cap, he personifies everything that makes a captain America, Bucky in the MCU is too mired in his past to do that however.

It's a Newcomic (apparently)

I'd like to see US Agent as Cap for season one and then maybe transition to Sam in a second season.

Walker took over as Cap in, like, '87. Bucky was 2008 and Sam was like a week ago. No queue-jumping!!!!!!!!!
