@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:41 AM)

Like, in general, not going into specific bands or covers. Because I could point out plenty of repainted toys I didn't like as much as the original, too.

@  TheMightyMol... : (17 May 2021 - 06:39 AM)

Is a musician covering a song "fixing" it?

@  Nevermore : (17 May 2021 - 05:15 AM)

So, then, isn't redecoing or retooling an existing toy also "fixing" someone else's art?

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 10:07 PM)

A toy is not on the same level as a piece of drawn art, true, but it is 100% an entertainment product.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 05:05 PM)

A toy is an object of utility, Comparing that to a piece of drawn art is grossly ignoring the difference between the two. Also, you didn't answer my questions. Try again.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:25 PM)

Part of the difference is that those covers are primarily one person's art. Sure, you probably have an inker and a colorist, but the lines and composition are one person. A toy however is a team design at pretty much all levels.

@  Cyoti : (16 May 2021 - 03:52 PM)

toymaking is a collaborative process, you have to make compromises and factories are going to get things wrong

@  tigerhawk : (16 May 2021 - 03:43 PM)

Earthrise had a few holes, Runamuck's legs YIKES!

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 03:37 PM)

I doubt that say, the designer for Kingdom Cheetor was happy about every bit of unpainted plastic on it.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:28 PM)

J Scott Campbell recently had his Spiderman cover "fixed" by someone online. A few weeks ago, someone on twitter "fixed" someone's Sonic the Hedgehog fan art where Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were drawn as humans. Both times and other times, the "fixer" gets called out and criticised as you shouldn't go around "fixing" someone else's art because its rude and disrespectful to the original artist. And I was thinking isn't "fixed your s*** for ya" exactly what toy customisers do?

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

Have you ever changed your car in any way whatsoever compared to the factory configuration, or are you leaving the designer's art unchanged in that case as well?

@  CORVUS : (16 May 2021 - 02:28 PM)

It's best not to ponder it too hard.

@  Nevermore : (16 May 2021 - 04:16 AM)

Bass X0, I really wonder sometimes how you come up with these random tangents apropos of nothing.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (16 May 2021 - 04:11 AM)

It's collaborative art.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 May 2021 - 04:07 AM)

Toys are subject to budget constraints, so its not like customizing would ruin the designer's vision or whatever.

@  Bass X0 : (16 May 2021 - 03:38 AM)

Isn't customising a toy just "fixing other people's art"?

As per Endgame, Sharon was assumed snapped, she's one of the floating faces at the start.

Ironbite-though I'm really hoping a Flag Smasher survived the bombing somehow.

The one that Sam kicked out of the helicopter, Diego, survived.

I'm thinking the Contessa might be working for Fury. Why? Well, not only because of her connections to Fury in the comics, but also the fact that both of these two Disney+ MCU mini-series have so far ended with a side character coming in to recruit each show's tritagonist (third-main character) for a higher purpose.

That Skrull lady recruited Monica at the end of WandaVision, vaguely alluding to Fury as "an old friend of [her] mother", and Far From Home teased that Fury is up in space working with the Skrulls. So if we are to suspect that MCU Contessa retains the ties she had to Fury in the comics, then her recruiting John to become U.S. Agent would mean that Fury is at it again with forming yet another new team consisting so far of Monica and John.

Should this pattern continue, we may get more recruiters and candidates in the forthcoming other MCU mini-series on Disney+.

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

I think it would be awesome if Fury and [antagonist of Secret Invasion] were each recruiting their own teams, but you never know who's recruiting for which side until we get there.

Keep in mind, we're seeing Contessa out of continuity. She was scheduled to premiere in Black Widow. So that's ultimately going to be her first appearance and give us a better idea of what her angle possibly is.

I'm kind of hoping that this works in our favour and the 'original' appearance drops a bombshell of who she's working for which makes this one suddenly have an 'oh no/awesome' context

It's a Newcomic (apparently)

Well distilled and taking out the early 2000s edge from it it was pretty much the base for the MCU. A good portion of design work from the Ultimates are starting points for what we saw in Avengers. Just less Millar and more Whedon.

Quoting for emphasis.

This is waaay obvious, but it gave us Sam Jackson Nick Fury. That alone is *chefs kiss*. It gave us a lot of other great stuff too and it's more...ultimate...elements, sure, but it's definitely earned its keep in the marvel pantheon.
