Ever notice Kath SOucie's Janine in the later episodes of Real Ghostbusters sounds like Tara Strong's Sari Sumdac?

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:10 PM)

I wish they were more universal like Beast Wars, Animated or Prime and as professionally done,

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:06 PM)

The Netflix shows are done for adults, the Generation toyline is for adults who grew up with G1.

@  Sabrblade : (28 September 2020 - 12:53 PM)

Who said it ever was?

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 September 2020 - 12:43 PM)

Whatever happened to WFC Earthrise being a kids show X'D

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 11:43 AM)

Cool, my last tablet couldn't run it, and I stopped caring by the time I got the new one. So thanks!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:27 AM)

There are crossover characters, but the amount and distribution... Marvel Vs Capcom this ain't.  If @wonko the sane? my bad!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:21 AM)

I've been playing for *checks account* 1002 days, 23 hours.  So, by 2021, it will have been three years.  I think it takes place in its own continuity, largely inspired by G1 but borrowing from other places.

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:19 AM)

@wonko the sane? Can only speak for Earth Wars, but so few they're easy to forget.

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 07:39 AM)

Didn't they already do the across universes thing in that tablet game?

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:30 AM)

Also, make the setting an amalgamation of different Transformers series, rather than based on a specific one. Bring in things like 'Sentinel Major' as the primo Autobot jerk, and sleek car mode Vehicons as the Decepticons' basic grunt.

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:27 AM)

KT just needs to incorporate the vehicle modes into the combat system, like Platinum did for Devastation, so they're for more than just wheeling it across the battlefield. =P

Transformers: Warriors of Cybertron! =D

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (28 September 2020 - 05:15 AM)

@  NotVeryKnightly : (28 September 2020 - 01:53 AM)

Aren't TFs way more varied than Joes, as far as they'd work in gameplay? Like, Omega Supreme is vastly different from Bumblebee.

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

Hell, ripoff Super Robot Wars withTFs

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

IDK they could make something like FF tactics or Fire Emblem ripoff with Robots and i'd buy it

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 09:43 PM)

See, I feel GI Joe (with it's varied cast) is a better fit for a strategy game, where as Transformers feels more suited for a shooter.

@  Maruten : (27 September 2020 - 08:28 PM)

I might give them points for making a strategy game if it's actually a good strategy game.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:48 PM)

I mean, points for making a strategy game instead of third person shooter, but: urrrrgggg. Cyberverse.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:47 PM)

A transformers game for the switch? *checks* Urrrggg... cyberverse...

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 06:28 PM)

October will be a big month for Hasbro fans: Zoids, GI Joe AND Transformers all have brand new console games. All on the Switch at that!

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 09:04 AM)

At least in animated he was more driven than just "loyal bootlick".

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 08:29 AM)

Oof, That's a huge downgrade

Honestly, making this comparison just reminds me of how Prime really feels like it's meant to follow up on some alternate version of the early movies.

On that note, with me being me, I actually did some calculations awhile back and determined something pretty interesting regarding the three-year time gap that takes place before Prime.

In the first episode of Prime, we are told by Ratchet that there hadn't been any Decepticon activity on Earth (that Team Prime knew of) "in three years." Before the show came out, we were told ahead of time that it took place after events that were somewhat similar to the first movie or so, which is probably what this Decepticon activity that Ratchet referred to was. While the first episode first aired at the tail-end of 2010 (three years before that would be 2007, the year of the first live action movie), the show began airing properly in 2011 (and three years before that would be 2008).

However, in all four Aligned cartoons, the characters always skirted around ever mentioning what the present-day year was. But, something of relevance to this is given in the Rescue Bots season 3 episode "The Last of Morocco". In this episode, time-traveler Jules Verne states that he came to the present from the year 1869, specifically mentioning that he traveled "over 140 years" into the future. 140 years after 1869 is 2009, the year of Revenge of the Fallen.

Now, note that Verne said that he traveled "over 140 years", not just "140 years". This means that the episode is not set in 2009, but a little bit after. Going by my past attempts to map out the Aligned cartoons' episode timeline (basically, the first three seasons of Rescue Bots would approximately correspond with each season of Prime, while Season 4 of RB corresponds with Season 1 of RID 2015), Season 3 of Rescue Bots would be set about two years after the beginning of both its first season and that of Prime. Adding the three year time gap to the mix places "The Last of Morocco" approximately five years after the Decepticons were last seen on Earth.

While I'm sure 1869 was chosen to be Verne's year of departure to the future so as to set his time-travel journey as late as possible prior to when he wrote Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (as it was published in 1970), that year being exactly 140 years before the time of ROTF does make something from later in the timeline line up rather nicely. Namely, while 2009 being the year in question would push Prime back to instead begin during 2012 (instead of 2011), 2012 is the year that Rescue Bots began airing properly (after having bee previewed in late 2011).

However, this only goes so far since continuing the trend would put Prime/RB season 2 in 2013, Prime/RB season 3 in 2014, RID season 1/RB season 4 in 2017, and RID seasons 2-3 in 2018-2019, which doesn't really match up that well with any of those seasons' real-world years of airing. Only RB season 1 benefits from this and not a whole lot else.

But, here's the kicker. Backing up to the discarded idea of 2007 instead being the year of the last known Decepticon activity on Earth, giving this idea its due attention yields some pretty interesting numbers. Three years after 2007 would put Prime/RB season 1 in 2010, Prime/RB season 2 in 2011, Prime/RB season 3 in 2012, RID season 1/RB season 4 in 2015, and RID seasons 2-3 in 2016-2017. This chronology actually works rather well on a number of levels.

First, RB season 3 occurring in 2012, five years after 2007, enables for "The Last of Morocco" to still come a few years after 2009, thus aligning with Verne's claim of having traveled "over 140 years" into the future; specifically 143 years. Secondly, it also creates a serendipitous sense of synchronicity with RID's airing years since each of its seasons being in 2015-2017 now corresponds exactly with each year that they aired in. And, well, since it's been said in the past that work on crafting the Binder of Revelation first began around 2007, it would make sense that that year would be an important one for the Aligned timeline, as though it was picked to match up with the first live action movie's taking place in that year. Even Cyberverse chose that year to be the present-day year of its second season's events.

As for Rescue Bots Academy, well, my initial theory was that it was maybe just a few years after Rescue Bots, at the very least set after the end of RID season 3 due to Cybertron finally being at peace. My main reason for this was because Cody doesn't seem to be all that much older than how he was at the end of Rescue Bots, by which point my best estimate is that he's probably no older than 14. So, I initially thought that he might be about 17 or 18 by the start of RBA. But then, more clues suggested this to not be the case. Fellow human Wes is said to be both a teenager and partaking in some professional rescue training, suggesting that he has to be in his late teens. But, Cody is definitely older than Wes, so Cody would instead probably be in his twenties at the youngest.

Something else in an episode yet-to-air in the U.S. also further suggests that a LOT of years have passed since the end of RID. I won't spoil what it is, but in order to reconcile this need for a long passage of time to occur after RID with Cody's still being a young man, my new best guess would be that RBA begins about ten years after RB season 4, in the far-flung future of 2025. This would be eight years after RID's end, while Cody would be about 24 at the start of the series. Ten years would also explain how much more confident and mature Blades had become as a rescuer and a mentor in RBA compared to how he was last seen in RB, though that's just more speculation on my part.

Anyway, with all of this in mind, we'd be looking at a 21st Century Aligned timeline like so:

  • 2007 - last known Decepticon activity on Earth
  • 2008
  • 2009
  • 2010 - Prime season 1/RB season 1
  • 2011 - Prime season 2/RB season 2
  • 2012 - Prime season 3/RB season 3
  • 2013
  • 2014
  • 2015 - RID season 1/RB season 4
  • 2016 - RID season 2
  • 2017 - RID season 3
  • 2018
  • 2019
  • 2020
  • 2021
  • 2022
  • 2023
  • 2024
  • 2025 - RBA season 1
  • 2026 - RBA season 2

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

Do you have any thoughts on what US state Crown City is in? You seem to be doing the Big Thinks on this sort of stuff and it always disappointed me that RID seemed to lack worldbuilding touches like that.

I'd have to re-watch the show again, but I think at the time it was airing the city felt like it might have been in an eastern U.S. state, but I've nothing concrete to support that at the moment.

Aligned for me, no question.

The Bayverse robots are so ugly that the only movie I've seen from that continuity is the Bumblebee movie.  (Which is not even necessarily in the same continuity, apparently.)  From the reviews I've read / seen, I don't feel like I missed anything of significance.

I really wish Aligned had had it's shit together because it was a very strong concept on paper, done in by no one wanting to collaborate and some dodgy ideas even by its own major architects. I don't really blame IDW not wanting to be involved given their own setup was at its peak at the time, though Hasbro would later force it on them after the Hub flopped.

The movies are just people trying to knit everything together only for Bay to laugh at them everytime. Heck, I liked Bumblebee but even that couldn't show its comic tie in any respect.

I really got into the idea of an expanded movie universe. I bought the comics, bought the novels, paid close attention to the toy bios of non-screen characters (which I usually ignore), and read up on the plots of the video games and the Titan comics in the UK.

Anyway, my pick is Aligned.
