And yes, I was too lazy to come up with a decent TF related forum name, and just *GASP* used my own.

I'll grant there is some novelty here...but I don't see it being this huge thing Sega seemed to indicate. There's no output I can see, so we're stuck with a tiny screen. The game lists offer some novel selections...but I fail to see how this couldn't be one device. The friction' picture probably uses more data than all the games combined.
I also think this might skew a little TOO small for the intended market.

$50 for 4 Game Gear game each. Preorder all four and get a big magnifying lens add-on part that just makes the system a bulky thing.
90s Sega is back, baby.

Plus, there's the big problem of all these games being Japanese..and a good portion of them being text-heavy RPGs to boot.
I mean, Yellow is almost all Shining Force games, which are pretty text heavy. And Red is half Shin Megami spinoff games (although Shinobi might be good).
Really, if you were to only get one, I think Blue's got the best lineup. Sonic & Tails (Sonic Chaos in the US), Gunstar Heroes, Sylvan Tale (which is a Zelda-like action game...with a fan translation patch floating around out there, just so you know), and Baku Baku Animal, which is supposed to be a pretty solid little puzzle game.
Black's probably second best with Sonic 1, Puyo Puyo 2, OutRun and Royal Stone (a strategy game ala Fire Emblem or Ogre Battle). Yellow and Red...really don't offer much to non-Japanese speakers.
Mind you, I'm not sure what kind of lineup I would want for a Game Gear collection. It kind of gets overshadowed by it's bigger brothers. I hear good things about the Asterix and Mickey Mouse games, but those are licensed and therefore off limits, supposedly. Kinda surprised Sonic Triple Trouble didn't make one of these collections, though. Same for Wonder Boy 3 The Dragon's Trap, Defenders of Oasis, Sonic Drift 2, Streets of Rage 2, GG Aleste 2/Power Strike 2, Dynamite Headdy, Ristar, and Tails' Adventure, too.
But, yeah...$50 for 4 Game Gear games on a really cramped controller? That's a little steep.
