@  Maximus Ambus : (29 September 2020 - 01:35 AM)

Ever notice Kath SOucie's Janine in the later episodes of Real Ghostbusters sounds like Tara Strong's Sari Sumdac?

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:10 PM)

I wish they were more universal like Beast Wars, Animated or Prime and as professionally done,

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:06 PM)

The Netflix shows are done for adults, the Generation toyline is for adults who grew up with G1.

@  Sabrblade : (28 September 2020 - 12:53 PM)

Who said it ever was?

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 September 2020 - 12:43 PM)

Whatever happened to WFC Earthrise being a kids show X'D

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 11:43 AM)

Cool, my last tablet couldn't run it, and I stopped caring by the time I got the new one. So thanks!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:27 AM)

There are crossover characters, but the amount and distribution... Marvel Vs Capcom this ain't.  If @wonko the sane? my bad!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:21 AM)

I've been playing for *checks account* 1002 days, 23 hours.  So, by 2021, it will have been three years.  I think it takes place in its own continuity, largely inspired by G1 but borrowing from other places.

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:19 AM)

@wonko the sane? Can only speak for Earth Wars, but so few they're easy to forget.

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 07:39 AM)

Didn't they already do the across universes thing in that tablet game?

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:30 AM)

Also, make the setting an amalgamation of different Transformers series, rather than based on a specific one. Bring in things like 'Sentinel Major' as the primo Autobot jerk, and sleek car mode Vehicons as the Decepticons' basic grunt.

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:27 AM)

KT just needs to incorporate the vehicle modes into the combat system, like Platinum did for Devastation, so they're for more than just wheeling it across the battlefield. =P

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:25 AM)

Transformers: Warriors of Cybertron! =D

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (28 September 2020 - 05:15 AM)

I want a Power Rangers Mosu. I would also take a Transformers Mosu. :D

@  TheMightyMol... : (28 September 2020 - 04:50 AM)

It even ended on a sequel hook.

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 04:40 AM)

Man, I just want another Devastation game... =(

@  NotVeryKnightly : (28 September 2020 - 01:53 AM)

Aren't TFs way more varied than Joes, as far as they'd work in gameplay? Like, Omega Supreme is vastly different from Bumblebee.

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

Hell, ripoff Super Robot Wars withTFs

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

IDK they could make something like FF tactics or Fire Emblem ripoff with Robots and i'd buy it

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 09:43 PM)

See, I feel GI Joe (with it's varied cast) is a better fit for a strategy game, where as Transformers feels more suited for a shooter.

@  Maruten : (27 September 2020 - 08:28 PM)

I might give them points for making a strategy game if it's actually a good strategy game.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:48 PM)

I mean, points for making a strategy game instead of third person shooter, but: urrrrgggg. Cyberverse.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:47 PM)

A transformers game for the switch? *checks* Urrrggg... cyberverse...

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 06:28 PM)

October will be a big month for Hasbro fans: Zoids, GI Joe AND Transformers all have brand new console games. All on the Switch at that!

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 09:04 AM)

At least in animated he was more driven than just "loyal bootlick".

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 08:29 AM)

Oof, That's a huge downgrade

@  Maximus Ambus : (27 September 2020 - 02:35 AM)

After rewatching Animated Sound and Fury, in my head canon Titans Return Soundwave is that Soundwave.

@  wonko the sane? : (26 September 2020 - 04:09 PM)

On an unrelated note: I just got the BBTS email about kingdom pre-orders... and even the stuff I don't want I'm perfectly willing to get if it means I can have the rest of it.

@  wonko the sane? : (26 September 2020 - 04:08 PM)

It's digimon. So first one, then the other.

@  TheMightyMol... : (26 September 2020 - 12:53 PM)

50/50 odds, it's either a helicopter with limbs, or a scantily-clad human with heli blades on their back. If female, 90% odds on the second one.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (26 September 2020 - 12:39 PM)

I read that as "Helicoptermon" and wondered what kind of Digimon that was.

@  Bass X0 : (26 September 2020 - 12:35 PM)

Helicopter-mom, transform!

@  Maximus Ambus : (25 September 2020 - 11:58 PM)

Aw I scratched the hood of my 35th anniversary Bluestreak. Fortunately he's in robot mode a lot.

@  Sabrblade : (25 September 2020 - 07:24 PM)

No decoration could improve the wall more than Knockout himself

@  TheMightyMol... : (25 September 2020 - 05:04 PM)

The wall could use some decorating, though. Maybe a nice shelf or a portrait.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 September 2020 - 04:32 PM)

@  TheMightyMol... : (24 September 2020 - 01:00 PM)

He's actually pretty easy to transform. Optimus, Megatron, Hound, and Bumblebee I find to be more difficult.

Trying to do a few non-obvious suggestions -

Beast Machines Tankor - nobody liked this toy at the time but his transformation is really fluid and nice, and gives several different modes, and the gimmicks also transform around him which is very interesting.

Cybertron Armorhide - famously great little guy, and him flipping upside down is neat.

Cybertron Mudflap - everyone hated this toy too but his transformation is actually really interesting because he goes sideways to form a long alt mode rather than just sticking his arms up in the air.

Cybertron Defense Dropshot - simple bit effective.

Cybertron Defense Red Alert - I think I just love huge rockets, but he also has a really nice transformation.

Binaltech Smokescreen - this was really the first time a full interior was done, and honestly was probably the best stab at it too. He's still flaming brilliant.

Reveal the Shield Tomahawk - Nice unusual transformation that breaks the helicopter tropes.

Reveal the Shield Terradive - jets without undercarriage get additional points.

Reveal the Shield Lugnut - the way the arms work has basically never been done in another TF. It's a very effective look that avoids a bunch of kibble.

Reveal the Shield Breacher - famously neat little toy, he's just fun.

ROTF Mindwipe - quite unusual, avoids jet undercarriage, really transforms but has a nice bat narrative to it.

The new movie jeep Bumblebee has a nice transformation and does some interesting things.

I never looked at it that way. It's a good point, although the fiddly part is not that bad imo. In my experience MP-39 was the first to have like twice the amount of moving parts opposed to the previous Masterpieces, and I had some mixed feelings about this one as well (my version is not the recent reissue). But I really came to like this one, once I got the hang of the transformation. The way the doors wrap around is ankles, and the way the windows (plus rearview mirrors:)) fold in the lower leg is just pretty smart engineering I think.

That's an interesting twist. MP Sunstreaker's transformation appears to be exactly my least favorite kind in two ways, though: ludicrously fiddly and obviously totally unrelated to what the "real" Transformer would do.

Well, a bit of an odd one here. More of a comparison, between one of the most recent Optimus Prime figures and the Optimus Prime that started it all. The Cyberverse one is my son's very first Transformer, the beat up G1 is actually my first Transformer! Times are changing, but there's one certainty in life: the essence of an Optimus Prime transformation:)

Made one on Transformers Prime Wheeljack! Cool stuff with the legs, arms and head!

Made some subtle changes in the video. Longer, clear shots, no sped up shots and show repeating things from different angles. Better? Hope you guys like it.

This post makes me desire a red cab Optimus, in which the blue truck bed becomes the arms, just to switch things up and enrage some people.

Even better, have that section compress into a blue torso block, and have the arms AND legs sprout out from the body of the cab.

Even, even better...give one figure two different robot modes. One in which the blue section becomes the legs, and a another mode in which it becomes the arms! Muahahahahah!

I know, I know, not a Transformer! But bear with me, and please don't ban me. DX-Chogokin is kinda like the Masterpiece line of Bandai. So, when I saw this jet and robot mode, I thought: nice, a transforming airplane that transforms differently from a Seeker! The transformation is pretty involved, with arms integrated in the wings and a crazy torso fold, never seen in a Transformers line. So just for fun something completely different. Hopefully: enjoy!

I guess it was time for the cutest Autobot of them all: Masterpiece version 2 of little G1 Bumblebee. I had mixed feelings about the transformation of this figure, but in the course of preparing for this video, I actually really started to like the transformation a lot more. When you do certain little things the instructions don't tell you, the transformation gets a bit more intuitive, like folding the shoulders up all the way. And the result? A spot on G1 cartoon Bumblebee exactly how I wished the original toy looked like:). I don't even have problems anymore with the 'backpack', because it clicks together rather tightly when done properly. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my little take on MP Bumblebee! Enjoy!

Here's my short take on this neat little (and heavy!) figure. Fans Toys' Dunerunner is a MP style Beachcomber. I love the clean look and how the security cage is folded into his torso. Very sturdy, very poseable. Enjoy!

As impressive as the Macross transformation designs look, they sort of lose their lustre when you go back and realize that Shoji Kawamori's essentially been recycling two main transformation schemes for the last ~35 years.  There was the original VF-1 transformation (G1 Jetfire), but he largely defaults to variations/refinements on the YF-19 transformation from Macross Plus.

Similarly, the only actually good transforming toys that Bandai's ever made tend to be the endless remakes and refinements on those same Valkyrie designs.  That, and the Zeta Gundam design.  Any of their attempts to branch out from that tend to be rather mixed bags, at least in their first pass.  If given a second chance, then maybe they'll iron out the kinks.

Because War for Cybertron premiered on Netflix, here's my take on this pretty cool version of Optimus Prime. I might actually like the robot mode more than the later released Earthrise version, since the abdomen and chest are better in proportion in this Siege version in my opinion (just an opinion:)). Especially after removing all the kibble, which I show later in the video. Copy at own risk! Enjoy!

As far as Macross goes, that's pretty much how things would work in-universe. They'd stick close to the thoroughly tested designs, what they know works, and the stuff that strays far from that would tend to be less reliable.

It kind of baffles me. The VF-1S where I made the video of is very well made and fun to handle, but after all these years they still introduce a figure with a hollow chest where you can add a loose peace of plastic is just a very big letdown. Makes me appreciate my old G1 Jetfire.

There is always a lot of discussion about the masterpiece line, but they do innovate and keep things fresh. Take MP-10 and MP-44. I might make a video on MP-10 some day soon:). I appreciate both of them for quite different reasons.

I know, another Optimus Prime, but this is a stranger in our midst:). I love the SD line of Master Made. Maybe the transformation is not the most sophisticated one (although I actually like it) and the alt mode is not the best aspect of the figure, but he's is just so much fun to mess with and the very posable hands give him a lot of character! Enjoy!
