x-x when in vehicle mode we can travel much F A R T H E R-

@  wonko the sane? : (30 June 2020 - 05:52 PM)

Because despite the fact that we can travel around the world in the time it takes to get a good nights sleep and a couple of meals: people rarely wander more than 25 miles away from home for the duration of their lives.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:49 PM)

I don't know how many days that trip takes - especially while sightseeing - but explaining they're 3936 kilometers (2445 miles) apart gives an idea, paradoxically because it is too large to easily picture.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:44 PM)

Aye.  When I catch lay people discussing miles and not how long the trip takes, it is in an attempt to stress how far away something is... like NYC to LA.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

But I can imagine 45 *minutes* easily.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

I can imagine a mile, it's a distance I've run. I can't really imagine 45 miles.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:19 PM)

I think there's also an element of the thing where things that are much bigger than us all blur together.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:49 AM)

If you're not, then you're more concerned with how long it takes.  Actual distance doesn't tell you that very well.  Besides traffic and road conditions, you'll need to know what kind of driving (city/interstate/rural/etc.).

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:47 AM)

Distance matters if you're being paid by the mile.

@  TM2-Megatron : (30 June 2020 - 11:44 AM)

Canadians are the same way, for the most part. If you're driving somewhere far, especially, it helps you plan out the day more than a distance in KM would.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:42 AM)

We use the time it takes to get someplace because that is what is relevant to us.

@  TheMightyMol... : (30 June 2020 - 10:55 AM)

Because even we can't figure out miles half the time.

@  Paladin : (30 June 2020 - 09:54 AM)

it's a big country with a lot of empty space. between our citizens' ears.

@  Bass X0 : (30 June 2020 - 09:52 AM)

Why do most Americans measure distance by hours of driving?

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 07:26 PM)

And as a result the world's lone blu-ray release of the film, an Australian disc that came out 7 years ago, now goes for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Thanks Disney.

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 06:21 PM)

Well, they censored Daryl Hannah's butt in Splash :rolleyes

@  Paladin : (29 June 2020 - 05:43 PM)

maybe New Mutants is too bad even for D+.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 June 2020 - 05:00 PM)

X-Men films are coming to Disney+ next month. But will they censor Hugh Jackman's butt?

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 June 2020 - 12:44 PM)

Pft.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 11:59 AM)

Behold! Night Strike Galvatron!

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 09:53 AM)

I will grant you a recolored body, and recolored troops to command.

@  Cybersnark : (29 June 2020 - 09:47 AM)

I don't want to be reissued. This body sucks, I wanna be updated.

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 09:43 AM)

I definitely don't intend to be reissued. Nobody would buy me.

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 08:31 AM)

will anybody else attempt to be reissued?

@  wonko the sane? : (29 June 2020 - 07:51 AM)

*Gasp* Decepticons re-writing history to serve their own needs?!?!

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 05:48 AM)

The whole point of the DJD is that they're fanatical Megatron fanboys (especially Tarn) to the point of having their own headcanon taking priority of the actual canon, simply speaking.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 04:01 AM)

They didn't know the war was over until later. And then they denied it anyway.

They'll probably just play it safe and redo War Dawn.

Likely inspired by it and maybe the previous ideas of how the war started as War Dawn is just one ep

If its not connected to the live action movies or any existing TF series, so exactly how can they call this a prequel exactly? or is this meant to be a prequel to the Netflix show?

Clearly this statement is poorly put together, its extremely vague on details, so I wonder if this actually official or not, given the resent Star Wars debuckle about a show, a bit more detail would be nice.

When it says "The film is separate and apart from the live-action Transformers film series and the Bumblebee spinoff, and those movies continue on a fast track." I interpreted that as meaning production-wise rather than in terms of continuity. Considering the statements we've had about continuity regarding the previous films, I'm not holding my breath for anything definitive.

Finally, a story about Optimus and Megatron in the beginning of the Transformers war! I've always wondered how that played out.

It was worth waiting for.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

It's really not hard to say "here is a story from the past of THE TRANSFORMERS" and call it a "prequel" without it actually being in-continuity with anything else. Is that technically correct? Probably not, but "Transformers fight on present-day Earth" is such a fundamental status quo for TF that anything set up to precede that kind of setup is prequelly enough for general audiences.

It's like calling a story about young Bruce Wayne a Batman prequel - it doesn't have to be a prequel to any specific Batman thing. We know what happens next.

Y'know, I was going to say something snarky like "So long as they don't kill Megatron or blow up the planet, they can massage the continuity".  But then I realized they easily COULD and use side stories and sequels to patch up inconsistencies.

It's Transformers, anything goes!

I hope they don't kill any of the core characters, injure, sure but not out right kill, the live action movies suffered from mass slaughter of characters to the point they were running out of classic characters to kill, or at least ones people could idenitfy, such as the constructicons, Starscream, Megatron, died twice which is one more than OP did in the movies. I would like the characters to be fleshed out and get to know them before they die on screen, otherwise they might as well make them all look exactly the same and just refer to them as Drones that get slaughtered every couple of min!

Announced in 2017, and nothing until it's conformed in 2020. Betting the production timetable will be equally skewed. Like actual production won't start until 2022 at the earliest, if it doesn't fall into production limbo, or changes director(s) in production. IF it doesn't get outright cancelled before that.

Certainly, it's more sensible than some of the other usages I've seen of words for new installments of things. A while back I started reading an article and it called Star Trek: Picard a reboot.

It never occurred to me until I saw the sentence that Toy Story 4 director was directing, but I think a really good pitch for an animated Transformers movie would be them crashing on a planet like on "Child's Play" where they would all be toy size in the movie.

Only if it has partial live action ending akin to The Lego Movie.

Deadline also reports that there are two scripts in production for the live action movie. One is a Beast Wars Script and the other is a script for the Bee movie universe continuation. Only one of the is apparently going to make the cut, but you never know with Hollywood.

Taken from Deadline article:

The studio is in development on two different projects: one by Murder Mystery scribe James Vanderbilt and the other by John Wick Chapter 3 EP and Army of the Dead scribe Joby Harold. The Vanderbilt project, from what we’ve heard, is based on Transformers spinoff Beast Wars which are robots that transform into robotic animals like Cheetor (Cheetah), Optimus Primal (Gorilla), Rhinox (Rhinoceros) and more. The other is reportedly in the Bumblebee universe. It’s not definite yet which one will make it to production.

Its the climactic final battle. The Autobots and Decepticons rush at each other, preparing to clash for the most epic struggle ever. Optimus Prime faces off against his old nemesis, Megatron.

'One shall stand, one shall fall,' Optimus cries.
'Why throw...' Megatron begins to retort, but his voice is suddenly drowned out by a booming, god-like female voice.
'Janey, Tommy, time for supper!'

cut to scene of kids with their Transformer toys spread all over the floor.
'five more minutes, Mom!' one of the kids shouts back.
'The food is getting cold, Now!' Mom replies.

cut back to the battlefield, the Autobots and Decepticons stand frozen in place. Optimus and Megatron stare at each other.
'Lasagna night, ' Megatron finally sighs.

credits roll.

Bonus after-credits scene. The Autobots are defeating the Decepticons with the help of their allies, the Megazords. Optimus aims his blaster at a kneeling Megatron's head.
'Surrender now, Megatron! Its over!' Prime declares confidently.
Suddenly, a literal army of fantastic tanks, jets, helicopters, and speedboats arrive on the battlefield.
'Not today, Prime!' Megatron snarls, as the cry of 'Cooobraaa!' rings out and the camera fades...

I would rather see Beast Wars than a Bumblebee sequel, but only if Beast Wars were separate from the rest of the live-action movies.  As much as I liked Bumblebee, at this point you'd have to run those movies through the Unicron Singularity a dozen times over to get any coherent continuity and I'm getting sick of it.

I suspect BB movie would get the green light, because they can save money by reusing BB CGI model from the first film while Beast Wars you got to do all of the CGI models from scratch and figure out how the animals transform unless they pinch the models from Disney's live action Lion King & Jungle Book, while also getting a hold of Kong from King Kong and making a few changes to make them look like the BW characters but that take work and honestly, I don't think Hollywood in a place where they can afford to toss millions at a project that might not hit its mark, or at least a live action one, animated maybe.
