Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but after listening to the original lyrics of 'Instruments of Destruction', I feel like the changed lyrics work better for the song's apparent subject matter. The more sexual words kind of take me out of it.
Yeah, it never sounded like a sexy song. Only ever sounded like a fearsome song.
I never really thought of the original as a sexual type song, more of an end of the world/mutually assured destruction type song, similar to War Pigs or Symphony of Destruction...
Yeah, I should probably clarify: like Mat, the first time I heard the song in the movie I also took it to be about war/weapons of war - which fit the Decepticons to a T. When I finally heard the original, uncensored lyrics, the more sexual-oriented words seemed to ruin the effect for me somewhat.
Like for one, "iron birds of fortune" quickly brings to mind mercenaries selling their skills to the highest bidder. "Iron birds of foreplay", on the other hand, makes little sense to me - or needs some more thinking about to make some sort of sense. Aircraft as the 'first strike', I guess?
