@  Maximus Ambus : (04 June 2020 - 11:51 PM)

They dubbed reaction shots and running scenes in the first two UT shows with "huh?" and grunts. very annoying.

@  Sabrblade : (04 June 2020 - 06:10 PM)

Watch it in Japanese with English subs. Karyuudo did all that work for us so that we could. ;)

@  wonko the sane? : (04 June 2020 - 06:08 PM)

I tried... but it just wasn't that good. The comics were better.

@  Maximus Ambus : (30 May 2020 - 02:14 AM)

Shockwave did it.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (30 May 2020 - 12:21 AM)

I'm not in the US and at least some of the episodes seem to work for me. I don't know the actual list of places it's available, though.

@  Shockwave 75 : (29 May 2020 - 10:37 PM)

Unfortunately It seems Cyberverse is only available in the US on YouTube.

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 May 2020 - 09:19 AM)

Yes, and its ongoing.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (29 May 2020 - 01:05 AM)

Cyberverse is already officially uploaded to YouTube.

@  fourteenwings : (29 May 2020 - 12:36 AM)

Spin Master is abridging current episodes of Bakugan Armored Alliance and posting the result on YouTube. Maybe Hasbro does that someday too.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 10:59 PM)

I see... :/

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 08:14 PM)

Within the US anyway. Those channels aren't easy or cheap to access in other countries, and their website often region lock content. Tubi is the only good thing on that list: largely identical (but not perfectly so. Damnit. I wanna watch COPS.) country to country and free.

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:24 PM)

So yeah, Hasbro is using plenty of venues to spread exposure of their brands

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:23 PM)

Starz currently licenses Transformers G1 and the GI Joe movie (as well as MLP specials). Netflix has more current series available.

@  Nevermore : (28 May 2020 - 07:21 PM)

Study shows: Holders of the title "world's oldest person" have a severely increased risk of dying.

@  Steevy Maximus : (28 May 2020 - 07:18 PM)

Tubi TV and Youtube both host various Hasbro cartoons. Both are freely accessed and ad supported. Any basic TV package (barring straight antenna) includes channels like USA Network, SyFy and FX, all of which regularly air the films from Transformers and GI Joe.

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 06:18 PM)

I dunno what to tell you, media might be changing slowly, but at least it's still accessible. Even the folks that DON'T get one of the streaming services can watch it on the company website. It's a vehicle for the toy line after all, they need to make an effort to make it as consumable as possible.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 05:41 PM)

Well. Thats said, then.... I guess... :doh

@  wonko the sane? : (28 May 2020 - 04:13 PM)

As long as the the cartoons are profitable, then they'll make more. The media it's shown on is completely irrelevant. I say that as a guy whose earliest surviving memory is a big red truck turning into a big red robot.

@  ZakuConvoy : (28 May 2020 - 03:06 PM)

Might be the end of an era. With the rise of streaming, who knows if Transformers will ever be on broadcast TV again.

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 May 2020 - 11:46 AM)

3 seasons on a show is usually enough... but yeah ;-;

@  Roddie Luver : (27 May 2020 - 09:37 PM)

I’m also sad Cyberverse has no season four.

@  Paladin : (26 May 2020 - 08:10 PM)

it's too hugging hot today.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 03:39 PM)

I'll agree with you on that.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 03:39 PM)

*Figured -_-

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 03:39 PM)

I fugured

@  Steevy Maximus : (25 May 2020 - 01:37 PM)

I'm actually sad Cyberverse won't get another season. 2 and 3 (of what I've seen) have REALLY nailed it in being fun little actions shows, like the Sunbow series.

@  Rycochet : (25 May 2020 - 01:00 PM)

Yes.

@  Maximus Ambus : (25 May 2020 - 12:52 PM)

I'm waiting for Animated season 4. Am I insane?

@  wonko the sane? : (25 May 2020 - 11:22 AM)

I'm waiting for the next season to show up on netflix.

@  Sabrblade : (25 May 2020 - 10:59 AM)

Many of us have already watched the rest of the Cyberverse episodes since the whole third season aired in the UK last September.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 10:18 AM)

*9th

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 May 2020 - 10:17 AM)

I just saw the 8th episode... omg

@  Bass X0 : (25 May 2020 - 01:28 AM)

Already seen it online.

I know you've all been desperate to talk about this but too embarrassed, so I'll break the ice.

So, I recently went through a little exploratory phase, wondering what other transforming Japanese toylines are out there. I started with Shinkalion (because it has a thread here, and because visiting Tokyo last year made me vaguely fond of trains for the first time in my life) and from there moved backwards to Drive Head, which I had seen on TV when I was in Japan. Have now watched a few fansubbed eps and though it's obviously aimed at a young audience (and is so fiercely To Sell Toys that I'm pretty sure it would be illegal in most countries) I'm really enjoying it. While I'm sure things may change eventually, the Rescue Bots-esque "giant transforming war machines that just go around putting out fires and getting kittens out of trees" is just really refreshing and charming in its total absence of violence. In fact I find it more striking than RB because instead of the Aligned For Children aestheic, it looks like any run of the mill Japanese fighting-robot show but (at least initially) isn't.

I've been surprised at how much I like the mech Walker Vehicle designs; "robots not in disguise", big guys that just kind of lie down and fold up and say "this is my alt mode, it's a big robot but slightly different"... it feels like a nice change of pace after all these Transformers working so hard to become Semi-Passable Regular Earth Vehicle Try Not To Notice The Seams. I realise TF has often given us "who needs a convincing alt mode anyway" as well obviously, but it's not their mission statement. "And I'll form the Car with Head" is a cute and ludicrous touch too.

My Cyclone Interceptor arrived yesterday (why pick that one: Who can resist "blue police"?) and the toys are fun. Very partsy, the whole deal is "pull the arms and legs off and give them to somebody else", but it works well. A second set of powered-up limbs that store as a jet (or cute differently positioned jet robot buddy) when you don't need them is pretty cool. There were about 35 stickers to apply (there would be fewer if I just bought A Dude and not the A Dude And His Thing two-pack), but they weren't too fiddly and though I am a devout sticker hater, I survived it.

Articulation is not quite on par with modern TF standards, but it's not too far off. No head/neck movement is balanced out by the glory of ball-jointed ankles.

Given the interchangeable parts I assume all the robots are basically identical in terms of transformation etc, but I'm still super keen to get more.

I saw Transformers, Tomica, and Plarail all together in the same store the last time I was in Taiwan.

Ive glanced at Tomica on TakaraTomy Malls website before but I dont know much beisdes that Hypedrive is a conceptual cousin of Transformers and Shinkalion.

Toy cars has never really been my thing, but when they connect to enormous trailers and then become giant robots, I'm onboard. It's a model I enjoy with TFs as well - tiny dude with giant accessory.

I've admired the Tomica stuff from afar before, especially because some of it is highly compatible with the new Diaclone toys. But I haven't purchased any because, y'know, I don't really need another item on my buy list!

Yeah, as with all these things... it's a slippery slope. Like, I probably need one of these now. I mean, I already have two badges to use with it. It would be irresponsible not to buy one.

I got it from HLJ and in Aussie dollars it was about $85 by the time the international shipping was factored in. Apparently before shipping the set's about US$56 (¥5,760). But there are other stores, eBay etc. Worth looking around.

I figure there's probably about as much plastic in there as a Voyager plus a Deluxe maybe? Which down here now would be $85 before shipping, so not a bad deal.

There are a bunch of different "Walker Vehicles" and they can be mixed and matched with a similar number of "support vehicles" like the jet I got, so there's a fair bit of variety to be had.

How much transforming do they do? Im inclined to move this to TF Discussion similarly to Diaclone and Shinkalion.

I would say the answer is "enough" probably. My general feeling is that the transformation is so simplistic, particularly since the alt mode is "nothing" and once you factor in the partsforming if you have a support vehicle in the mix, but I probably have a bunch of TFs in this room that transform as simply, or moreso. TBH I didn't realise the Diaclone and Shinkalion threads were in TFD... to me, generally every thread is in "new content". :)

The lack of a neck swivel is what's been keeping me from trying one out for a while now. :p

Also, are the 'core' cars Hot Wheels-sized?

Pretty much I think. My default assumption was "yes" but I wouldn't have wanted to swear to it. Luckily my son has one random Hot Wheels toy apparently.

For reference,『トミカハイパーレスキュー ドライブヘッド 機動救急警察』/ Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu had a TV anime ran from April to December 2017. This was followed up an ONA that started in January 2018. The theatrical film will premiere in Japan 24 August 2018.
