@  -LittleAutob... : (30 June 2020 - 05:55 PM)

x-x when in vehicle mode we can travel much F A R T H E R-

@  wonko the sane? : (30 June 2020 - 05:52 PM)

Because despite the fact that we can travel around the world in the time it takes to get a good nights sleep and a couple of meals: people rarely wander more than 25 miles away from home for the duration of their lives.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:49 PM)

I don't know how many days that trip takes - especially while sightseeing - but explaining they're 3936 kilometers (2445 miles) apart gives an idea, paradoxically because it is too large to easily picture.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:44 PM)

Aye.  When I catch lay people discussing miles and not how long the trip takes, it is in an attempt to stress how far away something is... like NYC to LA.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

But I can imagine 45 *minutes* easily.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

I can imagine a mile, it's a distance I've run. I can't really imagine 45 miles.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:19 PM)

I think there's also an element of the thing where things that are much bigger than us all blur together.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:49 AM)

If you're not, then you're more concerned with how long it takes.  Actual distance doesn't tell you that very well.  Besides traffic and road conditions, you'll need to know what kind of driving (city/interstate/rural/etc.).

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:47 AM)

Distance matters if you're being paid by the mile.

@  TM2-Megatron : (30 June 2020 - 11:44 AM)

Canadians are the same way, for the most part. If you're driving somewhere far, especially, it helps you plan out the day more than a distance in KM would.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:42 AM)

We use the time it takes to get someplace because that is what is relevant to us.

@  TheMightyMol... : (30 June 2020 - 10:55 AM)

Because even we can't figure out miles half the time.

@  Paladin : (30 June 2020 - 09:54 AM)

it's a big country with a lot of empty space. between our citizens' ears.

@  Bass X0 : (30 June 2020 - 09:52 AM)

Why do most Americans measure distance by hours of driving?

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 07:26 PM)

And as a result the world's lone blu-ray release of the film, an Australian disc that came out 7 years ago, now goes for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Thanks Disney.

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 06:21 PM)

Well, they censored Daryl Hannah's butt in Splash :rolleyes

@  Paladin : (29 June 2020 - 05:43 PM)

maybe New Mutants is too bad even for D+.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 June 2020 - 05:00 PM)

X-Men films are coming to Disney+ next month. But will they censor Hugh Jackman's butt?

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 June 2020 - 12:44 PM)

Pft.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 11:59 AM)

Behold! Night Strike Galvatron!

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 09:53 AM)

I will grant you a recolored body, and recolored troops to command.

@  Cybersnark : (29 June 2020 - 09:47 AM)

I don't want to be reissued. This body sucks, I wanna be updated.

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 09:43 AM)

I definitely don't intend to be reissued. Nobody would buy me.

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 08:31 AM)

will anybody else attempt to be reissued?

@  wonko the sane? : (29 June 2020 - 07:51 AM)

*Gasp* Decepticons re-writing history to serve their own needs?!?!

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 05:48 AM)

The whole point of the DJD is that they're fanatical Megatron fanboys (especially Tarn) to the point of having their own headcanon taking priority of the actual canon, simply speaking.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 04:01 AM)

They didn't know the war was over until later. And then they denied it anyway.

So I grabbed the Seige Rainmakers on Clearance. On a whole they are very nice toys and I'm pretty happy with them in both modes... but I have come up with one thing about them that bugs me. Or at least about 2/3rds of them.

I've always maintained that one (of many) reasons for Transformers success and longevity were the on package Tech-Specs and Bios making every single one of them "living" Characters with jobs, quirks, personalities and so on for kids to attach to. As a story/character guy that stuff is a big deal to me.

It feels even more important in the case of the Seekers with their shared generic body type. Screamer is the egotist treacherous schemer, Skywarp is the thug with a mean sense of humor, Thundercracker is the arrogant flyboy with secret doubts and so on.

But the Siege release has no bios for these guys, not even a Job/Function, and while Acid Storm has thankfully gotten a little in the in the past the TFwiki entries leave Ion Storm and Nova Storm completely blank beyond their super powers (EMP blast and Energy Shielding respectively).

Did these two get any bios or portrayals in Fan club stuff or games that hasn't been reflected on the wiki? I just want to see them be interesting people like the majority of the other Seekers.

-ZacWilliam, I would trade all the meaningless weapon-focused fluff we've gotten in WFC instruction and package copy for even the briefest of character focused text.

Q: Dear Vector Prime,

What are the names of the yellow and blue seekers who, along with Acid Storm, make up the trio known as the Rainmakers?
.
.
A: Dear Precipitation Pal,

The Rainmakers are foes most perilous, doing Shockwave's cold bidding on Cybertron and, in some timestreams, on Earth.

The yellow Seeker is known as Nova Storm. This humorless knave nearly winged me with his Trilithium Crystal Cannons. His armor is hardened against heat and radiation, enabling him to function in the heart of a volcano or even, for a short period of time, the outer chromosphere of a star. He is one of the few bots able to withstand the presence of Sunstorm, Shockwave's prototype for Seeker body-modification, for extended periods.

The blue Seeker goes by Ion Storm. I am fortunate enough to have never encountered this cocky Decepticon, for he is an electrokinetic of the first order. This ability could, in theory, generate an electromagnetic pulse and disable all electronics in an area, though I suspect doing so would leave him nearly helpless.

At least so it goes in [the Wings Universe].

Acid_StormAVP.jpg

Nova_Storm_AskVectorPrime.jpg

Ion_Storm_AskVectorPrime.jpg

tl:dr, Nova Storm is humorless and Ion Storm is cocky.

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

What's the tl:dr for Acid Storm?

Actually, what's the G1 shorthand for the coneheads too?

While I rather liked Ramjet = liar from Animated and the proposed Dirge = glutton and Thrust = greedy (or vice versa), it's not exactly G1. (Because G1 Skywarp and TCracker aren't like their Animated coward and boastful counterparts.)

What's the tl:dr for Acid Storm?

Universe toy bio:

A member of an obscure squad of Decepticon air warriors known only as "The Rainmakers," Acid Storm is known as an individual only to his teammates and a very few others. He is highly intelligent, eager, and dedicated utterly to the Decepticon cause. He has a talent for marshalling vast amounts of data, as well as a way with words that would make him a powerful speaker. However, he prefers to remain anonymous, as part of his team. His hyperion-3 blasters can seed natural clouds with a highly destructive form of acid rain.

Masterpiece toy bio:

Little is known about the mysterious air warrior Acid Storm. He serves quietly and anonymously under his commander Starscream and lord Megatron. He speaks rarely, but when he does, it is in passionate defense of the Decepticon cause. His oratory skill is so great that those few who hear him speak believe he has a great future among the Decepticons - but Acid Storm has no ambition other than to soar high in the sky, seeding clouds with the deadly corrosive rain that gives him his name. Autobots beware, because the ultimate Decepticon flier is on the hunt for someone to fight! He converts from robot mode to fighter jet mode, and in either mode he's armed for major combat. His canopy and nose cone open in jet mode, and his hidden missile pods deploy when he gets an Autobot in his sights!

He's "intelligent, eager, and dedicated utterly to the Decepticon cause," and a great speaker, but prefers to blend in with the crowd and remain a nobody, lacking in any ambition of standing out among his peers.

Here's what I got in my phone notes from the wiki when reading up on the Rainmakers made me detour into Seekers in general:

Starscream - Egotistical treacherous 2nd

Skywarp - Thug with a mean sense of humor.

Thundercracker - Arrogant Flyboy with secret doubts

Dirge - Spooky Goth

Thrust - Loudmouthed Braggart

Ramjet - Evil Launchpad McQuack

Acid Storm - Smart, charming, talented Data Expert who prefers to remain anonymous

Sunstorm - Dangerously Radioactive with delusions of grandeur/supernatural powers.

Bitstream - Genius hacker who can get lost in his work.

Hotlink - Tinkering Gadget Geek

Nacelle - Eager but unskilled history buff

Slipstream - Acerbic, mysterious warrior/spy

Red Wing - Devil-may-care flyer with powerful guns.

and now add:

Nova Storm - Humorless gender-mysterious stiff with unique Energy-proof armor

Ion Storm - Cocky knave with electro-kinetic/EMP-powers

ZacWilliam, so the Rainmakers breakdown as: A really competent guy who doesn't like to stand out (despite being bright eye-searing green), A cocky guy with showy powers, and a very serious person with strong defensive power. I picture Nova Storm as the over-serious by-the-book Leader, Ion Storm as the young hothead messing things up, and Acid Storm as the put-upon competent guy in the background whose actually holding things together and keeping the other two alive.

Nacelle is as tech-savvy as Hotlink and Bitstream, and apprenticed under Shockwave himself. So he's pretty skilled. He's just... well... He's the Absent-Minded Professor with miracle levitating propulsion that makes him faster and more powerfully maneuverable than he really ought to be.

His penchant for historical trivia about Shockwave's lab is mostly because he worked there... but one could suppose he enjoyed reading books while couped up doing lab work. And therefore know all kinds of factoids from outside of his scientific field.

His TFwiki page definitely needs a rework then because I just took a look back and his bio paragraph there is entirely "Eager. Bad at Fighting/Flying. Good at History."

-ZacWilliam, tempted to to rewrite it based on what's said here but I feel like someone whose actually read the material would probably do a better job.

I think the Wiki article was written based solely on what was in the "A Common Foe" comic without consideration of his bio (which came later).

NACELLE
DECEPTICON AERODYNAMICS ENGINEER
“Blasting you is as cathartic as streamlining one’s fuselage.”

NACELLE is almost as much at home in the battlefield as he was back in his old laboratory at Tesarus. He has a keen mind for the sciences having worked alongside BITSTREAM and HOTLINK under STARSCREAM's Helex-Ensis Decepticon Research & Advancement team. Upon the Nemesis's departure to Earth, he was assigned as a lab assistant to SHOCKWAVE. During that time NACELLE engineered the modified wing designs used for the second wave of Earth-bound Seekers; eventually adapting one of the prototypes into his own chassis.

Due to his longing to return to his laboratory work, NACELLE can become absent minded in the midst of battle. NACELLE’s overall effectiveness however outweighs any liability he may cause. He can fly at speeds up to MACH 2.7 and his high powered turbines can double his speed for up to 1 minute.

In my head cannon Acid Storm is a competent warrior who never gets recognition for what he accomplishes. His serious nature makes him an easy target for Skywarps shenanigans. Skywarp constantly sabotages Acid Storm as he is bitter that an Acid Storm toy came out first, when everyone was expecting the next repaint to be Skywarp.
