Hm. Back when we were arguing about the Legends comic, I seem to recall being repeatedly told that Japan had different cultural values than the US (and therefore anyone who had a problem with anything at all was wrong to voice that opinion ever).

Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, every single anime character is built to suit the audience's tastes so they buy more merch/do other things that allow $$$ to flow in the production committees direction, so the authenticity is certainly not for representation's sake.

Both those anime air at midnight and are aimed at a very specific audience in a whole other media landscape. Major projects have press releases about almost everything, and there are groups just waiting to pat anybody on the back for doing what they want (GLAAD, HRC, etc)

Welcome all, to the 2020 edition of the fitness thread. If you're new here, it's quite simple. Exercises are generally broken up by region of the body, upper body, lower, core, ect. And we count cardio under distance covered. Keep track of your reps and miles, and share them here if you want. Otherwise, ask question, share answers and help support the other folks on the allspark whom are looking to get into better shape, lose weight, change their eating habits, or just be healthier.

 

Normally, we have community goals for totals on the stuff we track, but I think we absolutely murdered some, and completely missed on others last year SO we're going to eschew markers and just count up totals instead.

And since I took a nice long walk on new years day, I'm more than happy to start the whole thing off. :)

I weighed myself this morning.

Im currently 322. This is less than my highest maximum weight which was 336 back in high school but massively higher than the 197 I got myself down to about ten years ago.

My life situation has changed and Im in a better place mentally than I have been in quite a while so I feel like I can make some real progress this year.

My current goal is to be 280 or less by June.

I missed weighing myself last Jan 1, 2020 so, for Jan 3, 2020, I am... 149.0lbs.

The goal is still 135lbs. Or 140+lbs with muscle. I can do it! I will do iiiiiit!

Dont we all??  lol.  BTW, Calories during the holiday season dont count, so you're OK!  

 

I think Ill be at the gym tonight when I wake up (working nights right now) and Ill get on the scale then. Gotta get my miles up, 2 5K's this month.  Ill probably do some sprint work on the treadmill tonight.

215 pounds this morning. Trying to get down to 200 by the end of April. I think it's doable.

 

I prefer being outside for a run than working out indoors, so these next 2-3 months are going to suck.


 

2 5K's this month.  Ill probably do some sprint work on the treadmill tonight.  

 

Nothing helps me work out more than knowing I've got a run coming up. It's a great motivator.

So, did a lot of walking on saturday. My normal route, then a semi drunk 4.4 to get home from my brothers housewarming party.

 

Miles:11.2 + 7.5 = 18.7

Upshot: I was pretty sober when I got home.

Nothing helps me work out more than knowing I've got a run coming up. It's a great motivator.

They do at least one 5K a month, themed around whatever we are celebrating that month. The one at the end of the month is for MLK, not real sure what the one this Friday is. 

 

Miles: 18.7 + 3.3 = 21

Did interval sprints on the treadmill tonight when I got up. Was working on full body weights, got through legs and was finishing shoulders when I felt like I was going to throw up and felt 100% out of energy. Core workout get skipped too. Ive been taking Animal Cuts for weight loss.  Supposed to take with food when you wake up, I took them with just water.  Probably why I felt like shit.  

 

For the intervals, same as I've done in the past, but since we have some new faces in the crowd Ill explain the workout in case you want to try it. 

30 min of running/walk (or whatever you want/can do)
0 - 1 min, walk at speed lvl 4 (15 min mile pace)

1 - 2 min, run at 7.5. (you pick the speed, 7.5 is an 8 min mile)

I did that for the first 10 min, then bumped the run up to 8 for the next 10 min.

The final 10 min, I went to 8.5 with the last 2 sprints being at 9.  

Ive done it before, but was in better shape. I tried to change the walk to a jog at 6.  Realized that was going to overwork me.

My foot sprain hasn't gotten better yet and I think I'm coming down with a cough so this bites. Still, did some basic bench at the gym. It's a start!

Supposed to run a 5K in about 2 hours. 

 

But....

 

1) its raining

2) Its cold

3) (And the main reason Im NOT running it) My leg is sore from my workout the other day.  Ill be 40 in May.  Ive learned not to push it when I get muscle aches and pains.  I know rest is what it needs.  unfortunately.  Guess Ill get some extra sleep today!

Sorry you missed the 5K, but better to miss a run than to hurt yourself.

 

I managed to get a walk in yesterday before the rain set in. I know I'm slacking this week, but between mom who went in for surgery on monday (laproscopic full hystorectomy. She was home on tuesday.) and me having apparently caught a mild cold, I'm just sore, tired and with no where near the patience to actually get any real exercising done.

Today was mostly spent cutting/putting up wood panels at my in-laws with TMM. I think we're finally done! ...for now. Decent amount of up/down stairs and general manual labor. No idea how to calculate that in, though. Also I think we're both coming down with a cold.

I spent the last hour shoveling ice. We got an ungodly mix of rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and snow which wound up making... concrete. it was hugging concrete. My everything hugging hurts.

4.2 on the elliptical Thurs, 4 mile run/walk today in shorts & and a tank top... it hit about 70F both days this weekend. Not... expected for January in RI but at this point not exactly unusual either.
