@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 12:41 PM)

It arrived! Yay!

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 11:25 AM)

Given how the virus lasts about 3-4 days on metals and plastics, it's about the only way to go about getting stuff right now. I ordered a monitor mount for my desk and the delivery has been pushed back twice already.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 11:04 AM)

He ordered it online, says it was to keep those delivery boys in business. I did the same a week ago with some Transformers Studio Series figures off Kapow. Don't know if it's wise or not considering.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 09:12 AM)

You'd be the first. Everyone else has either been frustrated cause the one they wanted was sold out (like during boxing week.) or rushing to replace something broken.

@  RYNO : (03 April 2020 - 08:53 AM)

I actually walked into a store the other day and just randomly decided to buy at 32inch TV. It was just a Vizio, and grabbed a Mounting Bracket for it. No duress. Just a spur of the moment wanted a TV for my master bedroom.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:31 AM)

Conversely: I've never met a person who wasn't buying a TV under duress... so... yeah.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:20 AM)

I think I've met maybe two people other than myself who count cables before buying a TV.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (03 April 2020 - 05:33 AM)

Seriously.. HDMI splitters and switches are so bloody finicky, but most tvs don't have enough inputs.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 05:09 AM)

Just spent a hour trying to get my brothers new Samsung TV to read his Playstation and Blu Ray player only to find he was using a HDMI splitter.

@  Steevy Maximus : (02 April 2020 - 11:07 AM)

I could never master oral bullshittery. But in my day I was quite adept with the written word.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (01 April 2020 - 11:32 PM)

You have mastered the art of Bulljive. You must use this power only for good, or entertainment.

@  Sabrblade : (01 April 2020 - 08:58 PM)

This morning, for one of my online classes, I had to give a positive oral presentation about a play that I hated having to watch. I went into it completely unprepared and just winged it. My professor LOVED my presentation and thought it was excellent. She believed every word I said and honestly thought that I enjoyed that miserable play. Best April Fools ever!

Shame he wasn't around more. He seemed like such a jolly, happy soul.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (27 March 2020 - 02:16 PM)

No, he was definitely Metroplex. You could tell because he was in Metroplex's distinctive red and green coloration.

@  Paladin : (27 March 2020 - 02:11 PM)

that was Leader-1. or possibly Jolt. maybe Grindor...

@  PlutoniumBoss : (27 March 2020 - 01:57 PM)

Metroplex was in Armada, in a flashback. He was the same size as everybody else. I thought that was the joke.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (27 March 2020 - 12:39 PM)

@Rodimus Supreme: Gah! You are right! How'd I get that mixed up? x.x;

@  TheMightyMol... : (27 March 2020 - 12:14 PM)

There is no Metroplex. Only Zuul.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:13 AM)

@Tm_Silverclaw: There is no Armada Metroplex, he was in Cybertron.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:12 AM)

And they'd be better off just retooling Metroplex and Fortress Maximus to be somewhat more accurate and changing/adding parts for interaction with later play gimmicks.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:11 AM)

I honestly would prefer that for scale purposes.

@  Cyoti : (27 March 2020 - 11:07 AM)

They can redo all the CW combiners as Titan Class figures like Predaking/Devastator.

@  Dekafox : (27 March 2020 - 07:52 AM)

They could just redo Metroplex again too. Especially if it's going to be S3 based. They could also do another Primus to go with the coming Unicron.

@  OverDrive73 : (26 March 2020 - 10:56 PM)

If anyone is bored, or interested... I just added the last chapter to my fanfic comic in Allspark Pictures

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (26 March 2020 - 10:54 PM)

And no.. We could always get Titan Class Superion.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (26 March 2020 - 10:53 PM)

We need Titan Class Transformers Armada Metroplex.

@  Telly : (26 March 2020 - 08:39 PM)

ill be surprised if scorpy isnt the last titan

@  PlutoniumBoss : (26 March 2020 - 05:57 PM)

Too bad a new character titan class figure is pretty much an impossibility.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (26 March 2020 - 05:56 PM)

I want a titan class, really good looking bucket wheel excavator. Like Cybertron Metroplex was supposed to be but didn't quite pull off.

@  wonko the sane? : (26 March 2020 - 03:32 PM)

I just taped up a shower curtain and took my first shower in three weeks. It was heavenly.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (26 March 2020 - 11:48 AM)

I would buy that...

I treasure Beast Wars, because, well, it IS a treasure. It did so much for this franchise, and is absolutely to blame for my continued infatuation with it. That being said, the animation apparently wreaks havoc on modern eyes. It was revolutionary for its day, but that day has come and gone. It was so expressive and emotive, it deserves so much credit for what it achieved and those animators deserve praise for what they did. With that being said, and accepting all the costs involved, would you be onboard for the show being reanimated with modern tech so that when I tell people it is the best transformers we have ever gotten, they don't poopoo the suggestion? The main reason I'd be against it is because it disrespects the artists who worked on it, but the pros would be a whole new generation of kids or even adults could fully appreciate the ground it covered.

Thoughts?

During BW, everyone wanted them to redo G1 using BW-level CG for the visuals.

How did I get so old.

No. I will always love Beast Wars, but the 90s CG isn't the only part that's dated. I would much rather have some kind of modern revival. Get the She-Ra people maybe.

What I really want is a show set far enough in the future, and with enough new ideas, that it is to the beast era as Beast Wars was to all the permutations of G1. But that isn't happening any time soon.

In my ideal outcome, a reanimation of Beast Wars would do its best to recreate the visuals shot-for-shot for the most part, polishing up some of the wonkier movements here and there - mostly like running and some combat stuff. The models, environments, and the effects are the biggest things that need updating, and I maintain to this day that Beast Wars had some of the best nuanced little character animations and emoting. Like even just remastering it on a level on par with Beast Machines would be a huge improvement, really.

As for respecting the work done before, a remake isn't going to make the original stop existing. Existing fans will still have their nostalgia for it and there will always be some new fans who get curious enough to go back and check it out.

There's no way you could put that team back together now on a TV budget. Everybody came out of Beast Wars with Beast Wars on their resumes.

Besides, you'd need Larry DiTillio's involvement and he's currently resting in peace.

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

For starters, I am aware this would obviously never happen. It is not practical. I am not practical.

Its just, suggesting someone watch Beast Wars is dead on arrival because they can't get past the old CGI to bother with it. Hearing that, like it get it, but...ugh. There's no way to win that arguement and I imagine there never will be. There is no solution. Then again, not everything is for everybody. Which is fine, its just. Its... Beast Wars. Come on.

Speaking of, it has been like 7 years since I watched it all the way through. Hmm.

Considering we've seen cartoons TODAY that have less expressive and more poorly-directed CGI than Beast Wars did, nah.

I think I understand what you're trying to say, and while I can sympathize with your point, Im not sure that updating the animation in Beast Wars would really help a non-fan appreciate it more.

Take the original Star Trek. They went in and redid a bunch of the effects in all the episodes. Do you really think that brought in new fans who couldnt get past the dated original effects to appreciate the stories?

Or put another way, I am a huge Godzilla fan. I love all the detail and ambition that went into the old model work and suit designs of the classic films. I would be kidding myself, however, if I thought those effects would hold up to modern standards. But I would never want the effects scenes in those films replaced with modernized ones.

The reality is, there will always be people who can appreciate and be entertained by older films and tv shows that the general public would turn its nose up at. Trying to modernize something to appeal to a wider market is more likely to lose the charm of the original, than to have much of an impact on swaying the opinions of non-fans.

But even looking back now, the dated CGI lost none of its story-telling power, and that's all that matters, and so it should be left alone in its rightful place, in TF history as it is now.

You don't need new visuals to get people into Beast Wars, you just need to convince them to watch it.  They will get used to the CGI.  The BW faces are emotive, which is the most important aspect if you're trying to get an audience to connect with characters.

I've got a friend who streamed Beast Wars for a group of people who were Transformers fans who mostly hadn't seen it.  It only took three episodes for them to go from "man, look at that primitive CGI" to "I AM INVESTED."

Beast Wars: Reanimated.  The show is exactly the same but everyone is voiced by Jeffrey Combs.
