For what it's worth, Malcolm in the Middle—which they never released DVDs of at all past the first season because of music licensing costs—was available in full on Amazon's streaming service back when I did my free trial of Prime in 2012, so it's possible that the much lower royalty rate that allowed the shows to exist in the first place and allows them to remain in syndicated reruns forever also apply to streaming services.

Presently, that show is available on Hulu.

It's here!

Episode order seems a bit funny (no shock on D+), several episodes are missing (possibly depending on where you're watching from), and there are some edits. But apparently Disney have stated that the intention is that all episodes will be present eventually with the possible exceptions of Brooke Shields (a music problem?) and Chris Langham (a Porn Criminal problem).

the music problem in question with Brooke Shields' appearance involves a Wizard of Oz parody with Robin singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."

since Warner still keeps an iron fist on the Oz rights, they probably made the right choice cutting it.

My wife and I have been considering getting Disney+ for a while, but we just never made the leap. With the price increase coming, we're taking another look at it.

Am I understanding right that if I picked the monthly plan, I'd only get the first month at $6.99, and then it would go up to $7.99 for the second month? But if I pick the annual plan, I'd lock in the $70 rate for the first year?

Also, I see there's a bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. There aren't any bundle options for just Disney+ and Hulu, are there? Hulu's another one that's been on our radar, but not anything we wanted enough to get. A good bundle might change that. We have no use for ESPN+ though, so adding that in for any price increase at all is of no interest.

There is a plan for Hulu and Disney+, but it's $18.99 instead of $12.99 a month. So it's better to just get the three pack.

I prepaid my Disney+ subscription for three years. It amounts to around $3 to $3.50 a month, but they take $5 off my Hulu plan. So I get more for having both than just Hulu.

Interesting. So seems like there are more options than just what I can see by trying to sign up? The only options I seem to have to choose from are just Disney+ monthly, just Disney+ annually, or Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu (either with or without ads) monthly. Nothing about bundling 2 of the three, or paying more than one year ahead.

Looks like the bundle of all three is basically the same price as getting Disney+ and Hulu separately from what I can select. $12.99 for the bundle, vs. $12.98 for just the two. Not sure where the $18.99 bundle price you mention comes from. That seems to be the ad-free bundle price for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, vs. $18.98 for just getting Disney+ and ad-free Hulu separately.

Anyway, I think we're ready to pull the trigger on Disney+, but not sold on Hulu yet. Guess I'll sign up for the annual rate and see what we have to work with from there.

Wait I thought if you got the bundle with Hulu, it was Hulu but with ads, so it wasn't worth it.

At least that's what everyone told me when I was curious about it.

Wait I thought if you got the bundle with Hulu, it was Hulu but with ads, so it wasn't worth it.

At least that's what everyone told me when I was curious about it.

The $12.99 per month bundle as advertised is the version of Hulu with ads. But if you start the process of signing up for it, AFTER you've already given your e-mail and created a password, it eventually gets to a screen where you get to pick which version of Hulu you want. Either you take the cheaper Hulu with ads and the bundle is $12.99 per month, or you choose the ad-free Hulu, which adds an extra $6 a month.

Unbundled, Disney+ is $6.99 a month, while Hulu is either $5.99 with ads or $11.99 without them. So getting both Disney+ and Hulu is virtually the same price as getting the bundle. The difference is, the bundle also adds in ESPN+ for an extra $0.01 per month. Which even though I don't have any plans of using it, would easily be worthwhile just to have it available in case something piques my interest.

The problem is, the monthly plan wouldn't lock in the current rates. Disney+ will be going up in price next month. The annual rate does lock in the price since you pay it up front. But the bundle doesn't have that option. At least when signing up, it's only available as a monthly plan. Since I was interested in getting Disney+ right now only to lock in the lower rate, have not decided I really want to pay for Hulu, and receive no real benefit from the bundle, I went with just Disney+. That's already more streaming services than I can effectively make use of, so I think I'm good for now.

On a side note, having spent some time today looking through the listings, I'm really pretty unimpressed. Between the classic Disney animated movies, Marvel, and Star Wars, it has plenty of good stuff on there. But it's all good stuff I've watched a ton of times. Outside those, I'm seeing very little jumping out at me that I really want to watch. Ultimately, I know it will be worth it because I'm sure my kids will love it. But if it were just for me, I know I'd have been better off doing a monthly plan and cancelling it after watching everything I wanted to see during that first month. It just really stands out to me because I just went through the same exercise with HBO Max a couple weeks ago after getting it through my Cable provider, and I was actually really surprised to see how much stuff was on there that I want to watch. It raised my expectations, and Disney+ just doesn't appear to reach that level.

Also, I absolutely hate the web interface. It's like it's trying to mimic the Netflix interface, but it's clunky, doesn't offer the same utility options, slow as hell, and not particularly well organized. Maybe they thought adding more categories would highlight how little content is available for each? Oh, and it also caused my computer to crash for the first time since I upgraded it to Windows 10 within the first 5 minutes of browsing their offerings. Not a great first impression.

Something weird is going on with Disney+ on my end. I'm trying to watch it on my laptop like normal, but all of a sudden, no matter what I play, the picture is zoomed in to cut off the bottom half of the video. Zooming out on my laptop doesn't help because the picture just automatically resizes back to the zoomed-in version. I see nothing to fix this in any settings or options screens, either.

Could be any number of things. Including the browser. I use AVG secure browser, but for whatever reason, VRV refuses to work with it. I have to switch over to Chrome anytime I want to watch something from there. Could very well be that whatever browser or setting Disney plus is reading on your laptop results in that glitch/zoom issue. I'd try different browsers, and maybe if you have a videogame system, download Disney plus on there and see if the issue persists.

I can't find anything talking about laptops specifically, but it sounds like the zoom in and zoom out motions are reversed in some mobile versions.  Maybe try zooming in so that you can zoom out?

Maybe try zooming in so that you can zoom out?

Just tried it. The picture stayed the same, but the closed captions grew giant sized. Restoring to 100% zoom didn't affect the picture, just returned the captions back to normal size (and pushed them back offscreen where they were before).

Though, this morning, it worked just fine on my TV via Amazon Firestick, but I don't always watch it that way since others like to use the TV and Firestick for other streaming services, leaving me to watch Disney+ on my laptop (which I prefer sometimes, depending on what I watch).

This is sounding like a problem on Disney+'s end, yes?
