With the addition of the transitional script to the archive. I thought it was time to bring together all of the written material from the movie and have a closer look at what was done over the course of production. None of the "he said/he said" contention here, this is purely a look at the hard copy.

Also, briefly because it has some bearing on this movie, the available material on G.I Joe The Movie:
Initial character and story ideas by Ron Friedman 08/05/85. Supplemental ideas 31/05/85

After that, things get a little murky. There are various drafts through late 1985 and into early 1986, but it is hard to tell who was writing them.
Final draft script 26/02/86

My own initial impressions? I think it's a safe call to say that the movie draft was the end of Ron Friedman's involvement with the Transformers. Even if that outline was the end of his direct writing of the Joe movie, there was no point bringing him back to the TF TV scripts as the season was almost over.
As for the TFTM draft itself, what broadly seems to have happened is that the script was hacked down to it's bare bones (a cut of 60 pages) and then built back up again. Even scenes that are kept intact, the text is heavily simplified to remove a lot of the directing-on-paper.
