Not really so much bad taste as it is bafflingly limited. Three of that list were released between 2004 and 5, one in 2002-ish and one in the 90's.

 

It's roughly the equivalent of Foffy's hypothetical person whose only anime exposure is Naruto but shifted back about a decade.

Why is it limited?? they just happen to be some of my faves who the frack cares when they where released

It would be like saying Super Metriod, Killer Instinct and Mario RPG could not be some of my favorite games because they where released in the 90s what kinda logic is that?

Who said anything about how they couldn't be your favorite anime? 

 

Your list is limited because anime is decades old, with thousands of titles and dozens of fantastic works in all genres. Some crossed the boundaries of weebdom to become acclaimed for their storytelling and sheer beauty of animation.  If this

squeaked into somebody's top 5, I'd conclude that they must not have watched a lot.

 

Like, sure, I love Dragon Ball and Jojo but I'd never put them into any top 5 lists aside from maybe broken anatomy.

Seems so.

 

It's weird - my biggest anime exposure window was during college and that coincided with Adult Swim airing Bebop and Trigun and SAC while I was watching fansubs of other things, so the things that have made an impression on me are heavily skewed to that section of time too. There have been other things that clicked with me since here and there, but I can't deny there's a thread. Like Baccano! was something I enjoyed quite a lot when I got to it a decade after it aired, but it feels like it would have fit right into that lineup.

It's not good or bad, but it's something we can observe. Basically, the reasoning goes you have watched a bunch of anime after seeing your top 5 and not even one made an impression on you.

Looks to me like Tec is a fair weather fan who only watches stuff that got dubbed because it was similar enough to a Hollywood action movie to appeal to americans.
