@  TheMightyMol... : (23 May 2019 - 12:45 PM)

Have they made a sliver planeswalker yet?

@  RichardT1977 : (23 May 2019 - 10:29 AM)

"DECOMPOSE!"

@  Paladin : (23 May 2019 - 06:29 AM)

will they next evolve into Inhumanoids?

@  Ashley : (23 May 2019 - 02:42 AM)

the original slivers were spikey monsters. then the evolved into humanoids. now they're back to spikey bug monsters.

@  MEDdMI : (22 May 2019 - 10:42 PM)

Wait. Slivers were bishies???

@  unluckiness : (22 May 2019 - 10:40 PM)

They haven't necessarily looped yet. It's possible they're stuck in "yaoi anatomy"

@  Ashley : (22 May 2019 - 10:35 PM)

I think Slivers in MTG have crossed the bishonen line and looped back around to monstrous

@  wonko the sane? : (22 May 2019 - 09:48 PM)

Maxi, provigo, loblaws.

@  RichardT1977 : (22 May 2019 - 09:42 PM)

Which store brand is it?

@  wonko the sane? : (22 May 2019 - 05:52 PM)

I need to buy more "no name" foods. This pizza is freaking awesome.

@  Bass X0 : (20 May 2019 - 11:16 AM)

SEND THE BOOKS!!

@  Cybersnark : (20 May 2019 - 08:52 AM)

So, now that Game of Thrones is over, when can we get back to The Dragon Prince?

@  unluckiness : (20 May 2019 - 12:19 AM)

Like, half of them nowadays are montages of tweet screencaps from the writer's inbox

@  unluckiness : (20 May 2019 - 12:18 AM)

lol you expected integrity from internet news

@  fourteenwings : (19 May 2019 - 11:33 PM)

I'm mostly confused how news sites went from "Analysing all the amazingness of Game of Thrones" to "Fans sure don't like this season!", like... way to prioritize clicks over a solid editorial opinion

@  fourteenwings : (19 May 2019 - 11:30 PM)

[and there's a recurring setting of a "derelict industrial site"] is this like the Toei Quarry?

@  MEDdMI : (19 May 2019 - 11:17 PM)

@Foffy and then that giant lasagna just tipped over and killed everyone, to be later known as the infamous Bad Monday event.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (19 May 2019 - 10:59 PM)

Ahahaha!!! Go read the reactions for yourself. To say anything more here risks spoiling the finale for subscribing Allsparkers, the quality of this season notwithstanding.

@  Foffy : (19 May 2019 - 10:59 PM)

pretty wild how heathcliff was in the game of thrones finale, i was not expecting that crossover

@  TM2-Megatron : (19 May 2019 - 10:48 PM)

were they still super pissed?

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (19 May 2019 - 10:48 PM)

Well, as someone who is not into Game of Thrones, it sure was entertaining to open up social media this evening to unexpectedly see headlines about fan reactions to the finale. Lmao.

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 06:12 PM)

But it's also a SUPER-well known location in my region, so these extensive exterior shots without any post production alterations completely ruin the illusion for me.

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 06:11 PM)

I mean, I get why they did it: It's an existing location that fits the purpose, it's open for the public, and they had to shoot some scenes in my home state anyway to due a subsidizing deal.

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 06:09 PM)

Needless to say, it's not in Berlin, and even what's seen onscreen is waaaaay too modern for something that's supposed to exist in 1929 (even moreso as a derelict site in 1929). The structures seen haven't even been built until the 1960s!

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 06:07 PM)

I'm currently in the process of watching season 2 of Babylon Berlin, and there's a recurring setting of a "derelict industrial site" or whatever it's supposed to be on the show, and I easily recognize it as a place only a few minutes from where I live (it's actually a former ironworks site that's been turned into a public park).

@  Xellos : (19 May 2019 - 05:52 PM)

Ever since I went to Japan last year, I have friend who dread watching anime with me due to that...

@  Xellos : (19 May 2019 - 05:51 PM)

Not hugely, but I am the type to notice places once I have been there and say "Hey, I've been there!"

@  wonko the sane? : (19 May 2019 - 05:50 PM)

Half of new york city (on tape.) is actually montreal.

@  TM2-Megatron : (19 May 2019 - 05:50 PM)

I watched Death Wish 5 last night and clearly recognized Toronto streets; didn't pull me out of Bronson's 1-man war on drugs or fashion or whatever it was that pissed him off that time

@  TM2-Megatron : (19 May 2019 - 05:49 PM)

it's nice to finally be thought of as exotic by somebody! lol

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 05:48 PM)

In an "I cannot possibly make my brain ignore the location I'm familiar with and pretend it's whatever the story claims it is" way?

@  Nevermore : (19 May 2019 - 05:42 PM)

Question for those of you living in exotic locations such as the US or the UK: If you watch a movie or a TV show that features a real-life location as a stand-in for someplace else, and you recognize the real-life location due to having been there in person, does that pull you out of the story?

@  Xellos : (19 May 2019 - 05:15 PM)

Maybe you should have installed macOS in your house instead.

@  Noideaforaname : (19 May 2019 - 04:40 PM)

Nothing like coming home after a long day to find a bird in the house. And then once you sit down for a well-earned rest after leading the bird back outside, you find it had a friend. A friend who *really* doesn't understand how windows work...

@  PlutoniumBoss : (19 May 2019 - 01:26 PM)

Bingo. The big polls don't tell people what's actually happening because that doesn't sell.

@  fourteenwings : (19 May 2019 - 10:59 AM)

IIRC there are good polls but data is easily manipulated so they give people what they want to hear

@  wonko the sane? : (19 May 2019 - 10:58 AM)

The only way to get people interested in politics is to make into reality TV. So they lie to do it.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (19 May 2019 - 01:38 AM)

Yeah, polling these days is garbage.

@  Sean Whitmore : (18 May 2019 - 11:53 PM)

Well, he was an honest man. He wasn’t gonna lie to a 5-year-old.

@  Paladin : (18 May 2019 - 08:34 PM)

Grandfather once said to me, "I'm going upstairs and hug your grandma."

@  Sabrblade : (18 May 2019 - 07:08 PM)

Life is like a box of chocolates. Stay out of the sun or melt into a pile of gross slop.

@  wonko the sane? : (18 May 2019 - 10:26 AM)

Greasy, disappointing and still managing to be over priced?

@  Lancer : (18 May 2019 - 10:22 AM)

... Yes, it is!

@  Noideaforaname : (18 May 2019 - 09:48 AM)

Life's a fillet of fish!

@  Paladin : (18 May 2019 - 07:03 AM)

a reminder that life is an unrepentant hellscape where everyone & everything you know will eventually betray you.

@  Pennpenn : (18 May 2019 - 06:45 AM)

You know, this election is what has finally broken me of any confidence at any point of pre-polling data. I mean, it's always been sketchy, but this is just... aaaargh!

@  Pennpenn : (18 May 2019 - 06:08 AM)

I was going to make an Auspol election thread in P&R, but the outcome so far has made me feel physically ill.

@  Gamma V : (18 May 2019 - 03:28 AM)

Haven't been here in a long time.

My only concern with this is that it's gonna be Amending Fences all over again. Don't get me wrong, said episode was a great one, probably the best of Season Five, but the comparisons are likely inevitable.

Isn't she a princess WITH her own library? With a SCHOOL which has an impressive library? If she did cause her favorite librarian to get sacked, couldn't she solve that problem in literally an instant?

Still, love watching twilight freak out. Should be good! :D

I get the feeling this book she borrowed, was the one that foretold of the Return of Nightmare Moon. As for the librarian, I doult they lost their job but they might be taking stock of missing books and realise that Twilight borrowed the book and there is the overdue fees to pay on it. I think much of the ep will be Twilight: "Twilight-ing!" In other words, freaking out and making a big deal out of nothing, but then at times she is rather insecure or lacks some faith in her own abbilties, then that's what the others are for, to prop her up and remind her that she got this.

As someone who tends towards similar anxieties to Twilight, her freak outs aren't particularly entertaining. I react differently, of course, but I don't have the luxury of being a cartoon character.

As for the librarian who theoretically lost her job, maybe that solves the problem, maybe it doesn't. Twilight has a terrible tendency towards micromanagement, and to an outside observer (and maybe the librarian themselves), it could be interpreted that whatever job Twilight gave them was out of pity rather than out of any measurable awareness of their capabilities.

Twilight having to pay absurd late fees would be a bit more realistic, yes. And probably well within her capabilities. Being a princess, she probably gets some sort of royal stipend.

Today's chat log guest starring the real Caldwin! Not the phoneposting troll one.

This could have gone quicker but Allspark software decided to help me.

Caldwin
Well...it looks like I'm like and hour and a half early. Guess I'll go play Street Fighter or something. *yawn*

FnuAw
I wish they never changed the air time. I liked it earlier.
Oy. This fricking neighbor has been hammering his roof nonstop for days. He doesn't seem to take breaks to eat or sleep.

Caldwin
Send your peacocks after him

FnuAw
I don't know how to speak peacock yet.

Caldwin
It's easy. You throw bread crumbs at your neighbor. They'll take over from there

FnuAw
The peacocks don't really like the food here. They just appreciate the effort. It's really sweet.

Caldwin
Oh yeah, meant to mention it in the thread, but this episode does kinda show Rarity's been hanging around Sweetie Belle
Oh man! Dark Chocolate Oreo's are amazing! Why must everything that's so bad for me taste so good! 374805331353796609.png?v=1
Applejack singing country is amazingly bad
Of course she's up to something, Shining! She's trying to win that crown!
Rainbow Dash always dresses in style

FnuAw
Dark chocolate oreos?

Caldwin
Yes! I heard about them months ago but they can be so impossible to find. I just found them at Target yesterday. They are sooooooo amazing.
Uh oh! Twilight's twilighting
Oh...right...live. I can't fast forward through the commercials. *sigh*
Everything's either cleaning stuff or baby stuff!
Hey, GP

Good to see you here, Caldwin.

Caldwin

Hello Dave

Dvandom
Really, Maud should have been the one to break through.

Caldwin
I was just about to type that.
We've seen what she can do to stone

FnuAw
She can only do it when it's funny.
She is Pinkie's sister.

Caldwin
No...Pinkie is Maude's sister
I love Luna here
Sisters!
D'aww!

Dvandom
Hi, Derpy

Caldwin

FnuAw
This show has run out of hecks to give.

Caldwin
And this is where I usually fast forward. Live television is quite an experience

Dvandom
I just shift my focus to catching up on facebook.

Caldwin
Funny, usually when a show runs out of shits to give, it goes down hill. But here, it's just making it comedy gold

Sorry. It's not just you. Anyone named Dave sets off my 2001 alarms

Dvandom
At least she doesn't have to worry about her mane being shaved off by the librarian.

FnuAw
G.M Berrow nooooooooo

Caldwin
Oh dear! There was a waiting list too!
Wow! How thick can they possibly lay this on?

Guardian Prime
First ep!

FnuAw
Well it could have been fun.

Caldwin
Poor Spike
Hah! Sarcastic Spike is best Spike

Dvandom
How do they stamp books for pre-cutie-mark kids?

Caldwin
Very carefully

Dvandom
Book-sniffer.
Yes, Twi, all that teleportation is totally inconspicuous.

Caldwin
I must say, I've gotten used to Spike with wings far quicker than I thought I would
She was old when you lived there. She may be dead, Twilight. DEAD!
Not to me!!!!!

FnuAw
Go Spike.

Dvandom
They have that office.
SHAME

Caldwin

FnuAw
Please tell me they didn't just sideline Spike for the episode. He's been great.

Caldwin
Spike missed his calling.

FnuAw
Okay good.

Caldwin
School never changes
Do people change kids in the middle of the park like that? Don't they usually find a restroom somewhere with changing stations?
I realise the Huggies commercial was several back, but I'm a slow typer

Scavenger
I like Spike as the live comentary of the episode

Caldwin
I forgot how bad these commercials for kids toys could be!
Oh dear! Twilight totally ruined her life...huh?

Dvandom
He has a G1 style cutie mark.
Oh wait, no.
Mistook the three barbells as six of something.

Caldwin
That book isn't getting any less late, Twilight

Guardian Prime
Old Folks Home.

Caldwin
Really? She had to ask her own students?

Dvandom
Why didn't they check a retirement community FIRST?

FnuAw
This episode is weird. Twilight's in OCD connect the dots mode but they're actually connecting.

Caldwin
You realize that might just be a you thing, right?

Dvandom
Dusty is out having fun.

Caldwin

Dvandom
Even librarians have a life outside of books, Twi.

Caldwin
How many montages have we had so far?

Dvandom
Nice eye twitch.

Caldwin
eye twitch Twilight is always funny
Rude!

FnuAw
Unicorns...

Dvandom
You'd think she'd have known WHO had that book..

Caldwin
You dropped some mail there lady

Dvandom
Given that libraries keep records of that sort of thing.

Caldwin
Yeah, that's what gives me. She had such a great relationship with Twilight. Her picture was on the wall. She didn't know who she checked that book out to?

Scavenger
the book had it's checkout card in it, rather than it being taken

Caldwin
Damn! Olive Garden commercial. Now I'm hungry

Dvandom
Yeah, back in the day they'd keep the card and stamp the sleeve for your reference.

Scavenger
which could be a result of damn young kinds not having non-computerized libraries

Caldwin
Yeah, back when they had libraries

Caldwin
That's not unusual

Dvandom
My mom maintained a private library for her students when she was a teacher, and she put in the full card and sleeve things.
Juicebox

Caldwin
Hehe! Old people are so literal minded. Saw a joke just like that in Police Academy 3
Yeah, you've already lost it all!
Face it Twilight, she's moved on. So should you. RETURN THE hugging BOOK!

FnuAw
When I graduated high school, library usage immediately plummeted so hard that they sold off most of the collection and moved the rest to a smaller room.

Caldwin
Twilight swearing off books? Wow!
A book that Twilight didn't even read? Such a thing exists?

Dvandom
Stains give library books character.

Caldwin
Hah! It capped! I thought so.

Dvandom
My library capped at "replacement cost plus a bit".
That's how I got my copy of the Buck Rogers novel...it got lost under furniture too.

Scavenger
plus a bit?
YOU ARE A PONY!

Dvandom
Not a Bit, a bit.

Scavenger
on the internet, nobody knows Dave is a Pony

Caldwin
I thought library's had to cap after a certain point. Otherwise it could get downright ludicrous. 500,000,000 for a late fee?

Guardian Prime
Ep was alright. Not great, just alright.

Caldwin
It made me laugh in places. It had Moondancer. I'm happy with it

FnuAw
Berrow's done worse.

Caldwin
And it showed that there is actually a book even Twilight hadn't read

Scavenger
it was light and fluffy and fun and had an exteneded derpy sequence

Guardian Prime
Think we saw all the Apple Grannies BUT Granny Smith in that retirement home.

Caldwin
Yeah, Derpy's always nice.
Granny Smith's still on the farm

Guardian Prime
I know, just thought it was a bit funny. No retirement for Granny Smith!

Caldwin
Maybe after the season's over
Or after Twilight ruins her life some how

FnuAw
This benefited from having more dots along the way than the usual Berrow episode.

Caldwin
I'm blanking on what other episodes Berrow's done

Scavenger
she writes the books

FnuAw
Think of the shallowest episodes ever. Those are the Berrow ones.

Caldwin
Well, I'm gonna go get lunch. I'm starving. Been fun actually being in on this one. Later all!

Yeah, I try to make a point to check in on these whenever I find a day off. This was fun. And the episode was pretty good too. It was light and fluffy, not exactly a game changer. But it was fun. Plus it had Derpy and Moondancer.

It was a ok, ep, certainly not a game changer but just one to remind us that Twilight isn't prefect! I think Celestia might be taking on a new student or something if she is clearing out Twilight's old living space.

That's a possabilty but I guess it would be a few years before Flurry is ready to strike out on her own as she still shown to be a filly needing mum to watch over her, so Celestia might be getting ready early unless she found another student worthy of her time to bridge the gap, after all, we are aware of only two personal students she had but there's likely been others before Sunset & Twilight

Berrow wrote on Twitter that this is the last episode of the series she has written.

I'm glad she went out on a comparatively high note. This wasn't bad.

Nope, not a bad episode at all. It definitely wasn't quite as bad as I'd feared.

The highlights were Derpy getting more dialogue and Moondancer's brief reappearance for me.

I enjoyed it, and it had a good lesson which didn't feel like it was beaten in. This kind of episode is what drew me into the series in the first place.

I am pissed at them ponies wasting food though. Seriously.

A third of the population does have super food growing powers. But not refrigerators. They gotta do something with the excess.

My roommate and I agree that this episode's biggest sin is that they go to the Tasty Treat, and yet we don't get to see Saffron Masala.

She was probably working. This isn't Sugarcube Corner where workers can just hang out or wander off whenever.

Was twilight even introduced to saffron? I mean, I'm willing to bet they all talked about what happened that day, but does saffron know anyone other than pinkie and rarity from the group at all?

But yeah, a reaction shot in the background of her freaking out when a princess walks through the door would have been priceless.

I didn't need her to speak personally, just seeing her walk by in the background would have been enough. Sadly it didn't happen.
