He dubbed the peoples that saw him as bad news cannibals and savages before enslaving and wiping them out too.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 October 2019 - 01:40 PM)

And if they had been unfriendly: he would have simply slaughtered them with diseases they couldn't fight, and technology they couldn't match until they as a people did not exist. There's something about european backgrounds that drive us to exploit.

@  Rycochet : (14 October 2019 - 11:02 AM)

He described the peoples he encountered as some of the most friendly and giving in the world, so naturally, he ate all their food, enslaved them and put them to work looking for gold that did not exist, until they as a people did not exist.

@  Paladin : (14 October 2019 - 09:57 AM)

he landed by coincidence in front of long-term residents.

In the year 1492, Columbus gave us the day off skoo

@  Noideaforaname : (14 October 2019 - 08:59 AM)

How often do people actually celebrate Columbus or the Pilgrims? Usually it just feels like celebrating the first break in the school year and a nice dinner with the family.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 October 2019 - 08:29 AM)

You've got like two more weeks until the american thanksgiving. Canadian thanksgiving is literally a harvest festival.

@  CVReynolds : (14 October 2019 - 08:09 AM)

Hey, everyone. Come together to enjoy this national holiday made to celebrate a mass-murderer who never set foot in the USA. What fun!

@  Benbot : (03 October 2019 - 07:21 PM)

Everyone needs a 1440 monitor. Just set up my new battle station and I never knew how much I was missing!

@  TheMightyMol... : (03 October 2019 - 06:59 PM)

Each part of a combiner is a complete toy in itself, so no, not really.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (03 October 2019 - 06:47 PM)

Aren't combiners technically BAFs?

@  Rycochet : (03 October 2019 - 02:16 PM)

The Anniversary Beast Wars figures had BAF parts over a decade ago, the minicons of RiD2 had BAF stuff too, heck, the Takara PVC line had Build A Figures back in the early 2000s.

@  Paladin : (03 October 2019 - 01:35 PM)

can't believe Build A Figures finally came to Transformers...

This thing was paced so much better than the Marvel stuff.

Just finished the last episode last night. The books had my curiosity for quite a while. The cover of the first graphic novel with the white violinist jumped out at me every time it popped up on Comixology. Kept resisting the temptation to spend any money to check it out though. I'm now thinking I need to start reading the series.

I just finished volumes 1 and 2 in one night. It looks like the third volume comes out August 20.

I actually prefer the show, but the comic is interesting. It's like the show took the first volume as it's overall story arc but took quite a bit from volume two to fill things out. It was an incredibly fast read for me though considering I read both volumes in one evening and it took me a couple weeks to get through the show.

I think the show fleshed out the characters much better. The stuff the show added and took away to make it more realistic (comparatively) and make it more dramatic really did make the show better.

But the comic's still worth the read. I enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next volume, and the next season.

Agreed. It's a fun comic, and I enjoyed it, but the series is better.

Same here. I found the comics interesting, and I appreciate that it's the source for all the major parts of the show, but I found the show to be the more enjoyable final package. Honestly, makes me appreciate it that much more. It's impressive when an adaptation takes good source material and elevates it further.

Of course, the show seemingly ended in a very different place than the two comic volumes it drew from. I'm guessing intentionally decided to make a clean break between the two, since they obviously can't wait for more comics to be published. Should make it interesting to see how they diverge from here.

The gf and I just finished this over the last couple of days. We both really liked it and are looking forward to more. It was heartbreaking when Vanya was locked up when all but Luthor wanted her free.

So, for any that are wanting more of this brand of weirdness and superheroics, I've learned through DC's streaming app of the "Young Animal" imprint. Gerard Way putting his brand of madness to some DC characters. Most Notable: Doom Patrol. Plus there is the crossover even "Milk Wars" in which other dimensional real estate agents try to homogenize the DC Universe with mind controlling milk. So if you want something sorta simillar in the wait, I'd suggest looking for these.
