I prefer later shifts myself, but my 3 day weekend shift isn't bad. Nice to work without those administration busy bodies poking around.

Yeah, traffic is a plus as well. Rarely got any trouble getting to work on late shift (even with the neverending construction site on the highway), and when my shift is over, there's hardly any traffic at all anymore.

while I don't have weekends consistently off, working 2nd shift isn't so bad. I'm more likely to do stuff before work than after (when I'm already tired). Plus no rush hour traffic

Switching shifts constantly is never good for one's health. There was a time when I worked overnights steady for about 2 years; did wonders for my health, as well

Man, permanent late shift really has done wonders for my overal well-being. Never having to get up early for work, staying up late, weekends off... a ot of my coworkers think I'm crazy, but late shift is really my preferred shift.

Happy new year! And welcome back!

 

I've actually lost count of how many of these we've done, but we all know the drill at this point. The thread is dedicated towards helping each other achieve weight goals, exercise goals, change our lifestyles and eating habits in favour of healthier ones.

 

Welp, after reviewing the totals from last year, we WANTONLY overshot on the reps, and fell slightly short on miles. So, here's this year community goals:

 

-Miles; 5000

-Uppers: 50,000

-Lowers: 25,00

-Core: 25,000

 

And remember: the point isn't to meet the arbritary numbers assigned by some shmuck on the first of the year. The point is to change ourselves for the better.

 

I was actually going to take a 3.5 mile run on the elliptical this morning: but one of my plague bearer kin gave me a wicked cold. Every time I cough I feel like I'm going to rip out my lung valve assembly.

I ran today for the first time since I starting having heart problems last fall. Yesterday was lower body

Nothing to contribute yet but, recording for posterity, it's Jan 3, 2019 and my weight is 154.2 lbs.

(Yes, I gained weight from the New Year's Eve buffet that I haven't lost yet. Darn it!).

With the Allspark Exercise Community as my witness, I will reach 135 lbs before 2020! It is my vision and it will not be in hindsight when eye attain said target then lose it! (and other eyeglasses related puns)

So I haven’t ran since the first half of December. The temps are to cold for me to run first thing in the morning. By the time they are warming up my wife has to get ready for work so I’m on kid duty. On days of work I don’t have time after to go because I gotta get home before my wife leaves for work. Weekends are about it anymore it feels like and I work every other one. With a second kid arriving at the end of this month it’s going to be that much harder. I had 816 miles last year which was about 250 less than 2017. Hopefully I can find the time to get the miles back up.

Still motivated to run a half marathon this year. Just gotta get out and train.

Good luck to everybody and their goals this year. Really impressed with this group and how we have stayed after it from year to year and how we manage to pick up one or 2 new members every year.

First mile swim of the year. It also just felt like an average Friday afternoon at the gym. Maybe the new year resolutionists are felt more during peak hours? (which I am fortunate enough to be able to avoid.)

I didnt get a chance to update on Friday, but my son asked to workout with me. He did so good! He just turned 11, and I told him that if he keeps this up, by 16 hes gonna be ripped!

We did chest that day, and then lower body yesterday. I gave him today off, and I did some cardio with a stretch.

434 days in a row now! I dont have the body I want, but we moved our gym to our front porch (its enclosed with windows all around). I got hot power walking. So I took off my shirt. Take that small village onlookers, haha!

(My wife said its a good thing it was dark outside!)

It's good your kid wants to exercise with you. Get some good information and good habits into him NOW while it's still fairly easy to change his habits.

Today was upper body. Going to have my son walk on the treadmill when he gets home from school (first day back for them finally).

I had an idea last night that Im going to try to do: walk for at least 10 minutes after a strength training workout. I also started tracking a new stat: total move calories burned (a stat my Apple Watch gives me). So far (not counting today, since I cant get the current days totals until the day is over): 4,497.

Miles: 26.51 + .57 = 27.08
Uppers: 655 + 280 = 935
Lowers: 615
Core: 382
