People continue to not know what it means to decimate. I'd be surprised if they call it that in the film.Oh, and it's not "The Snap" anymore- it's The DECIMATION.

1/2, 1/10, same thing right?

Why did they keep the title so hush hush? Seems very bland.
They wanted fans to specluate, partly, but I think they only finally settled upon the film title in the last few days, also, they want to hype up Captain Marvel as that comes out before Endgame does!
I still maintain it should've been titled "Disassembled"

i was hoping itd be called "assemble" myself. and SOMEONE (preferably cap) had BETTER say "avengers assemble" in this one. if wheadon had been sitting next to me in the theater during ultron, i wouldve punched him for cutting cap off at the end
but on the plus side, its not being overused in the movies. so yay to that
just once, thats all i ask. is that too much?

I gues "The Halfimation" just didn't have the same ring to it.
.
No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.
If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.
Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

It might not be the proper meaning, but Thanos did Decimate the population of the universe.

That's the point, he didn't decimate the universe, he removed half it's population. That's not decimation.

You guys are going by the historical definition of decimation. Nowadays it's a more generic "wiped out a shit load."
But I get it, when the word's classical definition remains part of the spelling of the word itself, it's hard to let go of.

I mean.. my dictionary says 1/10 or 'an excessive percentage'
But...those are not even close to the same thing.

One's literal, the other's slang.

For my part, I resent that "literal" has been bastardized to have a meaning besides plain "literal". What kind of wanker do you have to be to ruin a useful and practical word like that?

Besides, we're already playing fast and loose with definitions, since Thanos called Gamora's world a "paradise", when in the first Guardians film the Nova Corps identified her as the last of her race.
Maybe the race died out after Thanos wiped out half of them, and he never bothered to check back in?
