A Mey Hem Thanksgiving: Never Say Seconds Again

Nodding as the bug witch spoke, Kage saw the truth of what she said. Although he was still intrigued as to why she would even alert them to thus danger. Was it really as simple as not wanting any competition?
"Eneny of my enemy? Yee, i see what you mean. Unscrupulous mortals attempt to acheive ascension in a higher plane should not be allowed. Especially a Thief God.
Should we do this, i would like the answer to one question, Mossy. I want to know the root of your hatred. Not for us specifically, but the reason for your desire to take the workd away from people and warp it for yourself?"
At Destrons odd comment and clenched teeth, Kage turned his head to look at her.
"What do you mean by 'prevent a new goddess from rising', Lady Destron. To whom do you refer?"

"Had we lost instead of prevailing ... do you believe she would still be referred to as a demon?" Destron's eyes soften as she looks from the woman to the man. "Do not mistake my courtly demeanor for friendliness or flirtation Sir Kage, As a crowned Princess I am schooled in diplomacy as well as the blade."

"Yes, this is the moth demon, Moscareina."
"Okay."
The matter clarified, he frowns and pins his ears.

Looking down at Night Cap, he said.
"Not to worry my friend, had she the power to attack us, she would have done so. Mossy requires a host and a ritual to truly enter and affect this plane of reality. Both of which, we have prevented her from getting.
By the sound of it though, our demonic frenemy here is the lesser of evils today."

"Perhaps. However, let us not for a moment forget that a mutual enemy may only make for an alliance of convenience... should we fail, she will not weep for us... should we be victorious but if the battle to come weakens us -do not trust to good faith, she will set upon us - it is her nature." Destron again turns to the woman. "I wish to be wrong - but perhaps those impulses are but a remnant of Chur's memories playing at the back of my mind. She would wish better for you"

"This is very much a win-win situation for her. We win, one potential threat is dealt with. We lose, another threat is dealt with and the world suffers. You are right Lady, she would not miss us were we defeated. Whatever happens next, we must stay vigilant."

Your quarry is very much the muscular and hearty Viknadian. Not as fair skinned as the princess but of the north all the same. Boastful and cocky in a smug and self assured manner. In the event that you encounter Varian, I give you this as a sign that he should stay his hand and listen to a temporary truce." Moscareina reached her hand into the coconut shell until it was all the way up her arm. She then pulled out a marble sized orb in a pale, speckled green. Her hand wholly dry despite her actions, she paused in confusion then looked at Beathra. "I believe you are the only one who I can give this to. For your sake, don't drop it."

Beathra raised his eyebrows with a enigmatic smile at her comment and received the orb, testing its weight in his hand and peering closely at it, before stowing the item away in his cloak. When his hand came out, it now held his long stemmed pipe.
As he filled it, he said, "A temporary truce, eh? Very curious wording, that."
Snapping his finger beside the bowl, it lit and he took a contemplative draw, continuing, "What are we meant to do with this man, once we find and forestall him? Clearly he's not meant to be killed, otherwise you would hardly be looking to us or offering a means to simply halt him. I presume you'll be watching, waiting for the task to be completed, so you may step in. I do wonder..." here he trailed off, leaving further contemplations for his own mind. "In any case, the sooner we can get started, the sooner we can have it done."

"So your nature is to be a hateful, manipulative witch, who will trick and deceive anyone she wants into helping rot the world into a decaying, festering mess?
Good to know."
With a deep breath, Kage controlled himself and moved back to the matter at hand.
"Hmm. So this 'Valerian' is to be stopped and delayed?"

And besides, I only deceive when it suits my needs." During this conversation, Beathra felt that the orb was warm and slightly soft.

"Ah," Said Beathra, "My apologies... you had not mentioned a champion till now, so I assumed that was your quarry's name. We shall keep an eye open for them."
"If there is nothing else we ought to know, then I think it would be best for us to be on our way." Here he began to turn, then stopped, "For the record," he added in a oddly earnest voice, "I believe you. I do not trust you. But, I believe you. And I think it would be in everyone's interest to see this task done."
Beathra turned and motioned to his compatriots, "Come Kage, Destron," he said with a smile, "Let's not keep the Goddess waiting. We have much to do and the day is waning. Unpleasant tasks are only less enjoyable the longer you put them off."

My mistake.
I'm not sure i'd call him a 'Champion Like No Other', unless you count serving you. Still, it will be interesting to meet again. And on the same side this time too.
'sigh'
No, death is not my first or second option. Though it does tend to be yours. At least, when you can;t charm your way into someones good graces. Regardless, we should probably begin our search."
Kage gave an exaggerated bow to the witch and said.
"Until we meet again, thou foul villain."

Kage reached up to rub the back his neck, unnerved by Marguerites blushing and her (possibly?) unintentional reminder of her 'piratey dream'.
"Y-yeah, some rich people can be jerks. I mean, it was only pickles. I'd like to think i'll never be that picky about my food. No ever take out any frustration on the delivery girl because i'm too arrogant for my own good." Smiling nervously as he kindof rambled, Kage added. "I have... ways of making sure money never goes to my head.
'cough'
I, uh, don't fence and have never been on a boat. However, i do know how to handle a sword."

"I couldn't help but overhear and I happen to do a lot of sailing." Stepping right in front of Kage was a muscular, tanned, and shirtless man. His baggy, vertical striped trousers were held up with a thick black leather belt whose buckle had a stylized maple leaf similar to some elements of Dee's armor. With a bandana topping his head and a smug smile topping his expression, he said, "I'm sure I could take you on quite the fantastic voyage."

Then he looked again. Tall, muscular, not a local, brash and loud. With a Maple leaf buckle.
This guy definitely seems like he could be our quarry.
The maple buckle does indeed imply a possible connection to Viknadia.
It does?
I said possibly. Look again though. The design does seem to resemble the aesthetic of our warrior Princesses armour.
So it does. Interesting.

Beathra stepped forward without hesitation with a beaming smile.
"Aye," he said jovially, "it is clear from your bearing that you have sailed many a sea!"
Here he gave a slight pause, seeming to bask in the man's glory, then continued, "I once knew a sailor - quite a worthy one at that - and he told me, though far and wide the seaman may travel, he'll always take, as he put it 'a bit-o-home' with him. Some trinket or bauble to announce with pride his homeland. And I see that you possess a Viknadian leaf of remarkable craftsmanship and detail. If what my dear friend told me is true, you must have traveled far indeed!"
