My biggest takeaway at this moment isSpoiler
A WHEEL fetish.
The character moments certainly held this together and many were lovely. Minimus Ambus Swerve, and Whirl's ultimate fates were most satisfying to me, and the concept of Future Rodimus working under Thunderclash seemed very appropriate. Everyone having forgotten Rung was very, very sad...as was Nautica's ultimate fate in a subtle way.
At the same time, some of the self-congratulatory stuff was a tad unbearably smug and obnoxious to me, particularly Swerve's "family album" and lock-in remarks. Characters like Ratchet and Grimlock who meant more than just MTMTE/Lost Light to IDW continuity didn't really get an acknowledgment of that. And of course, the extremely DANGEROUS experiment the crew performs at the end rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know that Getaway's shenanigans should have completely erased the doubts the other 200+ Autobots aboard the Lost Light had about Megatron. And now they're unleashing Cybertronians on an unsuspecting new universe like Bart leaving his frog in Australia.
Maybe if Brainstorm and Nautica had done it without anyone's approval or consent on a lark, it would have worked better, but I just don't see Perceptor or even Ultra Magnus signing off on it.
Anyhow, good retrospective up there. My own feelings on Roberts' run as a whole will take a bit longer to process, but I'm generally happy for this to be the end for the moment.
