Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving and revolving at nine hundred miles an hour.

relative to the speed that it's swirling around the centre of the galaxy, its rotation is fairly slow

I'd like to make myself believe that planet Earth turns slowly.

@  -LittleAutob... : (02 January 2021 - 07:21 PM)

The Earth moving gave us 2021.

@  ▲ndrusi : (02 January 2021 - 10:50 AM)

It does that.

I think the Earth is moving.

Sunday evenings are awesome. Looking at the clock at 8 PM and thinking "I still have plenty of time before going to bed..."

@  Nevermore : (02 January 2021 - 06:33 AM)

Now I've been working permanent late shift for almost three years. Don't regret it one bit. One of the rare cases where the needs of the company overlap with my own preferences.

@  Nevermore : (02 January 2021 - 06:32 AM)

Before the permanent late shift was introduced three years ago (which I volunteered for as soon as the form became available), I always tended to plan my vacation for early shift weeks. Since the majority of the people in most departments prefer to work early shift and thus tended to plan their vacation for late shift weeks, there were usually enough slots available for me to get my request fulfilled.

Doesn't seem to be a thread for this, which is surprising if true.

It's good but really wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Feels like if you put the Raimi movies, the second Raimi game and Arkham Knight in a blender.

I'm absolutely loving it. I'm at about 45% and it doesn't really seem to be doing anything revolutionary, but everything it does is done well. The web-traversal is excellent, the combat is fun (once you get the hang of it), there's heaps of variety in mission types and yet I haven't found a single objective that's annoying or frustrating.

I got a "rare" trophy for using the fast travel five times, and I was like... only five? That's rare? But it's just so much fun to swing the whole length of the map. The fast travel scenes are adorable, but I've only used it if I was in a hurry.

Not super fond of their Peter design, but everyone else looks phenomenal and the story and character work is really great. This is the first game I've played in like two years that completely overrides my "put Overwatch back in the tray" urge, and if you'd told me a few weeks ago that it would be good enough that I haven't yet bothered to buy the new TR, I'd have laughed at you.

Can it beat GoW for GotY? I don't know, but as great as GoW was, I was still switching regularly back to Overwatch. So I guess I know where my vote will land.

Just finished the story mode yesterday, and I spent a good chunk of today going for 100% completion.

Nothing revolutionary by the standards of modern, open-world, action-type games, but a truly excellent superhero experience. I loved everything from the subtly different animations caused by the same button press depending on the characters' positions, the mini-puzzles that approximate what it's like to actually be smart, and the brilliant Jonah Jameson podcast.

So, if you are playing this game and have not completed the story, probably don't read this week's Spider-Geddon #0.

Super cool that they're bringing this Spidey into the books, but that one issue packs in a lot of late-game spoilers. Like, y'know, beyond "Otto goes bad" (GASP!).

Do they try to come up with an in-story explanation for how dirt-poor Peter Parker managed to buy himself 55 backpacks over the course of his school years?

If you find a certain backpack it contains a trophy from a Fisk sponsored science contest. Peter explains he morally never cashed the prize money cheque but happily accepted the other part of the prize- a lifetime supply of student backpacks.

It is a very awkward fudge but the whole backpack quest is. Peter left a lot of ID around the city.

In this way I think the Riddler quest works better. You're looking for stuff you'd find around Gotham and it unlocks a related story for the player. So find a Dent campaign poster for instance and get a story about what Two Face has been up to.

Ignoring story missions because I don't want this fun New York replaced by the dystopian one later in the game.

Got all the backpacks and unlocked the MCU home made suit.

The city sure does get jacked up. I've just gone from "there's nothing left to do" to "there's eighty guys to fight on every street corner, forever".

I'm at 75% now and struggling to imagine how they can fit the things I still expect to see into that last 25.

Yeah, while Spider-Man is a fun game.. they -really- dropped the ball in the final third I feel.

They needed to take a few lessons from Sucker Punch and Infamous.

It's fun but flawed. Having a big open New York is now a standard for a Spidey game but there isn't really much to do it. Random crime encounters start to get tedious and as far as I'm aware you can miss characters who give you side quests. There's photography quests/camera mode but as far as I'm aware the game doesn't save either of those and you have to use the Share button.

You can't miss any sidequests, HC. They're tied to achievements and no achievements are permanently missable.
