@  Maximus Ambus : (05 April 2020 - 01:11 AM)

Ah well, I'll stick to the classic British sitcoms: One Foot in the Grave, Til Death Do Us Part and They Think It's All Over.

@  TM2-Megatron : (05 April 2020 - 12:53 AM)

There's always the original, cheesy as it is

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (05 April 2020 - 12:10 AM)

Dunno... Tonight one of the major networks showed a movie with plagues.. including that listening to their leader causes the first born to die. ;P So nah.. I think the Stand could work. :D

@  TM2-Megatron : (04 April 2020 - 09:18 PM)

That's probably the last thing anyone needs to see, at the moment. Maybe when we get to the end of June/beginning of July and we can venture back out, it might be possible to find some enjoyment in The Stand.

@  Maximus Ambus : (04 April 2020 - 02:08 PM)

I suppose the CBS adaptation of Stephen Kings The Stand will be delayed.

@  Rycochet : (04 April 2020 - 11:26 AM)

We'll always be together. Together in electric dreams.

@  Rycochet : (04 April 2020 - 11:25 AM)

Please remember that in these times of social distancing, we'll always be together however far it seems.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 12:41 PM)

It arrived! Yay!

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 11:25 AM)

Given how the virus lasts about 3-4 days on metals and plastics, it's about the only way to go about getting stuff right now. I ordered a monitor mount for my desk and the delivery has been pushed back twice already.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 11:04 AM)

He ordered it online, says it was to keep those delivery boys in business. I did the same a week ago with some Transformers Studio Series figures off Kapow. Don't know if it's wise or not considering.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 09:12 AM)

You'd be the first. Everyone else has either been frustrated cause the one they wanted was sold out (like during boxing week.) or rushing to replace something broken.

@  RYNO : (03 April 2020 - 08:53 AM)

I actually walked into a store the other day and just randomly decided to buy at 32inch TV. It was just a Vizio, and grabbed a Mounting Bracket for it. No duress. Just a spur of the moment wanted a TV for my master bedroom.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:31 AM)

Conversely: I've never met a person who wasn't buying a TV under duress... so... yeah.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:20 AM)

I think I've met maybe two people other than myself who count cables before buying a TV.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (03 April 2020 - 05:33 AM)

Seriously.. HDMI splitters and switches are so bloody finicky, but most tvs don't have enough inputs.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 05:09 AM)

Just spent a hour trying to get my brothers new Samsung TV to read his Playstation and Blu Ray player only to find he was using a HDMI splitter.

@  Steevy Maximus : (02 April 2020 - 11:07 AM)

I could never master oral bullshittery. But in my day I was quite adept with the written word.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (01 April 2020 - 11:32 PM)

You have mastered the art of Bulljive. You must use this power only for good, or entertainment.

@  Sabrblade : (01 April 2020 - 08:58 PM)

This morning, for one of my online classes, I had to give a positive oral presentation about a play that I hated having to watch. I went into it completely unprepared and just winged it. My professor LOVED my presentation and thought it was excellent. She believed every word I said and honestly thought that I enjoyed that miserable play. Best April Fools ever!

Shame he wasn't around more. He seemed like such a jolly, happy soul.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (27 March 2020 - 02:16 PM)

No, he was definitely Metroplex. You could tell because he was in Metroplex's distinctive red and green coloration.

@  Paladin : (27 March 2020 - 02:11 PM)

that was Leader-1. or possibly Jolt. maybe Grindor...

@  PlutoniumBoss : (27 March 2020 - 01:57 PM)

Metroplex was in Armada, in a flashback. He was the same size as everybody else. I thought that was the joke.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (27 March 2020 - 12:39 PM)

@Rodimus Supreme: Gah! You are right! How'd I get that mixed up? x.x;

@  TheMightyMol... : (27 March 2020 - 12:14 PM)

There is no Metroplex. Only Zuul.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:13 AM)

@Tm_Silverclaw: There is no Armada Metroplex, he was in Cybertron.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:12 AM)

And they'd be better off just retooling Metroplex and Fortress Maximus to be somewhat more accurate and changing/adding parts for interaction with later play gimmicks.

@  Rodimus Supreme : (27 March 2020 - 11:11 AM)

I honestly would prefer that for scale purposes.

@  Cyoti : (27 March 2020 - 11:07 AM)

They can redo all the CW combiners as Titan Class figures like Predaking/Devastator.

@  Dekafox : (27 March 2020 - 07:52 AM)

They could just redo Metroplex again too. Especially if it's going to be S3 based. They could also do another Primus to go with the coming Unicron.

@  OverDrive73 : (26 March 2020 - 10:56 PM)

If anyone is bored, or interested... I just added the last chapter to my fanfic comic in Allspark Pictures

Geez, if only Disney had a someone that could play Mara Jade.

319d777b715211e9fd98b2e362994fc8.jpg

Good choice, an actress who is actually proven to be a capable actress, lets just hope Disney as it wakes up from its stupidy, finally gets wise and picks a better actress to play Mara Jade, all Larson can play is:

1. Slave girl who gets killed

2. Storm Trooper who gets shot (she can then attempt her Death Monolog and it be left on the cutting room floor)

3. A background character who has no lines and only job is to walk from one side of the set to the other with a bunch of other people!

"Brie Larson as [Fan Favorite Female Character]" sounds bait-ish. Like, not saying it can't happen or even is a bad choice or anything, but if you (whether that be a studio, a "news" site, or just a troll) want to get a lot of people talking, that'd do it...

For all the complaints about the prequels, I've watched each of them numerous times and have always been entertained. They certainly have their problems, but I'm always happy to see them on the TV.

Meanwhile, I have yet to conjure up the will to see 8 a second time and haven't had enough interest to bother watching 9 yet. We've been using the quarantine to introduce Star Wars to my daughters over the last couple weeks, so I do expect both of those tidbits to change over the next week or so. I guess I'll see then if 9 has enough going for it to turn around my loss of interest.

I guess here's as good a place to ask as any. How's The Mandalorian? I'm one of those seemingly rare people who hasn't signed up for Disney+. We're not hurting for entertainment options, and nothing I've seen so far has been compelling enough to get me to shell out for it. The Mandalorian is probably the most interesting thing I've seen for it so far, but I just haven't had enough Star Wars interest to even look into it.

Do you give them to Lucas?

YES.

It can't possibly turn out any worse..... riiiiight? I mean, we got glorified remakes that haven't advanced the SW 'world' any, endless backpedaling and retcons, so much angry name calling from even the official creators, "mystery boxes" and "subverted expectations" and "jake skywalker." Lucas' Sequels would likely be bad, but charmingly bad. Like we'd be having fun with dopey quotes and memes now, instead of pretending it doesn't exist.

Or maybe it would be that bad, but that still means it can't be worse than things are now.

(On the other hand, the Disney sequels indirectly taught me about objective criticism, got me to think about film/writing/art on a deeper level, and pushed me to explore the old Star Wars EU, which I'm not sure would happen with Lucas. Hrm....)

I'm the opposite. I've tried so hard to enjoy the prequels, because when you take them apart there's a lot of cool stuff and great characters in there, but when they're stitched together into Those Three Movies, I just find them unwatchable. Like once or twice a year we sit down and we try to watch them, but by the end of TPM we've just run out of stamina and we just physically can't do it.

I have to rationalize the Prequels as "Luke studied every document he could find (along with common knowledge and his own experience with Vader, Palpatine, Yoda, and Ben) and this is his mental reconstruction of how things happened."

I still want to know just what the hell George's "microbiotic" movies would've been like. I mean, I assume they don't involve Jedi literally shrinking down and punching cells, that it's more of an abstract theme and all, but still it's as intriguing as it is vague. "The Whills are the ones who actually control the universe. They feed off the Force. We were just cars, vehicles for the Whills to travel around in." Seriously, whaaaaaat? Can we get Lucas to write a novel, or someone to do a "The Star Wars"-style comic adaptation, or something? That's far more interesting than anything Disney's been doing.

I mean, say what you will of the Prequels, they were all overseen by the same person and told a unified three-act story.

The new trilogy is basically the beginning and end of one story with a chapter of a different story awkwardly shoved into the middle. I'd go so far as to say that I'd enjoy seeing a trilogy by Abrams or one by Johnson, just not this ill-planned mismatch of both of them fighting over the steering wheel.

Both have serious faults, and what's going to be more watchable for one may not be for another.

Personally, despite the flaws, I enjoy the sequel trilogy vastly more than the prequels (which I can't even really stand to watch, tbh). They're better made films on a technical level, and the first entry is still pretty damned fun to watch as far as I'm concerned. The storytelling was botched, but I can enjoy enough other aspects of it that it's still tolerable.

The prequel storytelling wasn't botched, so far as I can tell... George told the story he set out to. I just didn't like it. Combine that with piss-poor effects, stilted dialogue, dizzyingly over-the-top fight choreography that strips away any tension, and the silver screen's worst-ever romance... well, I just don't really have any fun with it.

There IS a lot to be said for "this is dreadful, but it's the dreadful thing George wanted it to be".

It's my opinion that we got much better movies out of the ST than we would have if Lucas had made them, but I still would have been lining up at the cinema to see what dreadful things Lucas did next. Star Wars was his baby. For my money, he raised it badly and then sold it, so... I'm not sure he's a great father... but I often think "this is what the creator wanted" trumps "but is it actually good or not". Who knows better where SW should go than George Lucas? There aren't a lot of areas where I'd defer to his wisdom, but on that one front he's untouchable.
