Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving and revolving at nine hundred miles an hour.

@  TM2-Megatron : (02 January 2021 - 11:57 PM)

relative to the speed that it's swirling around the centre of the galaxy, its rotation is fairly slow

@  PlutoniumBoss : (02 January 2021 - 09:31 PM)

I'd like to make myself believe that planet Earth turns slowly.

@  -LittleAutob... : (02 January 2021 - 07:21 PM)

The Earth moving gave us 2021.

@  ▲ndrusi : (02 January 2021 - 10:50 AM)

It does that.

@  tigerhawk : (02 January 2021 - 10:11 AM)

I think the Earth is moving.

Sunday evenings are awesome. Looking at the clock at 8 PM and thinking "I still have plenty of time before going to bed..."

@  Nevermore : (02 January 2021 - 06:33 AM)

Now I've been working permanent late shift for almost three years. Don't regret it one bit. One of the rare cases where the needs of the company overlap with my own preferences.

@  Nevermore : (02 January 2021 - 06:32 AM)

Before the permanent late shift was introduced three years ago (which I volunteered for as soon as the form became available), I always tended to plan my vacation for early shift weeks. Since the majority of the people in most departments prefer to work early shift and thus tended to plan their vacation for late shift weeks, there were usually enough slots available for me to get my request fulfilled.

Some of these are coming in real handy for my attempt to build up a scene list for MTMTE and try to verify how much of the script made it through to storyboards.  Especially in terms of some of the early ideas being pruned away.

Edit - Now that I've had a chance to contrast and compare.  This was not the Ark II Bridge:

https://imgur.com/pzAp7vS

It's Soundwave's console on the space cruiser, the one on the right listed under Background 394.

https://www.ebay.com...CIAAOSwQOVdh482

BG 393 "Blast off!"

BG 394: Soundwave engages launch

BG 417: "Not yet, Megatron.  Prime is right behind us."

BG 418: "That's impossible."

BG 458: "Not yours, Megatron! MIne!"

BG 464: Mirage appears (Layout is mirrored)

BG 480: I believe the first use of the air lock background is the deleted scene where, having shot out more consoles, Megatron blasts Mirage across the ship, who lands where we see him a few shots later

Background 488 is likely the shot of Megatron leaning over the chair, screaming at Soundwave to "Do something!"

Wait, have we ever seen the originals of those Xeroxed Unicron concepts?  They don't look familiar to me, and those look possibly airbrushed.

To my knowledge, those never showed up online.
And yeah, it 100% must've been painted.

Stylistically it looks very much like the background keys:

Oof, no other bids until this morning. Unfortunately I cant justify $100 on a xerox of a cool painting.

So that Post-It note, along with the dates for the storyboards helps to roughly place TFTM as being shipped to Toei in January 1986.  So we're talking six months to animate, on top of everything else Toei had on the schedule.

Slightly off-topic - While it is not my main project, I do go through the items in these auctions when they get put up and note down script cover dates from the various shows.  On this round of sales, I was shocked to find that the first scripts of Ghostbusters' syndicated run (some of which I had on VHS) were being turned in 20 months before broadcast.

Just that it was written by Jeffrey Scott, along with a unique series bible of his own design, as part of an effort to sell the series to CBS before it was decided to produce the series for syndication. It featured two human characters named Eddie Fairchild and Matt Conroy, and had some original female Transformers.

So, basically, the memo to Toei can be summarized as "Make this character more Marvelous."

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

You know, I'd always figured the final TFTM cast models must have been by someone other than Dery just because the drawings themselves are so stylistically different to... like, every other model sheet created for the show, but to see such a clear line drawn between them even by the people in charge, THAT'S a surprise!
