The bike shorts kinda look dumb.
Just give her pants.

given the current political discourse I can understand how you could see that in the characters, but I don't think that's got much to do with it.
Catra has abandonment issues - it hasn't come up yet in the series, but hasn't anyone noticed that there aren't any more cat-persons around o_O.
and on top of that, she then gets discarded by her 'sister', 'Mother' and eventually even her would be father-figure ... all of whom have had a toxic effect on her.
she isn't being political... she's being self-destructive. everyone is against her - so she's turned against everyone. If the roles were reversed, adora wouldn't have turned on the portal... none of the other characters would have... even Hordak didn't want to at that point...
Catra's walked off the plank of sanity - its why she was the only character that got the "broken" look in the time bubble ... it was a little on the nose -sure, but they still needed to put that in there for the character arc to work.

yeah, but Catra is bad for Scorpia just as much as she is for Adora... Catra needs to fix Catra before she can be good for anyone... that's not what us shippers like to acknowledge lol, but it's very true for both of these relationships.
You can just feel all of in how Scorpia reacts to seeing Catra stun rod Entrapta.

not only does she have abandonment issues, she's tried to patch over with toxic replacement relationships, she's also got 2nd child syndrome and an inferiority complex despite her narcissistic coping mechanism.
she's a mess of duality - its no wonder she both loves and hates Adora

it's certainly a view of it from her perspective. But then again, what war is she talking about? the war to be Shadowweaver's favorite unofficial daughter? the battle to have solitary possession of Adora's allotment of friendship points?
Anything she's had taken away from her, were things she assumed she had without question, things she deserved to be given even though nothing was formally ever hers - or were things she lost in the course of her own actions.
Catra lives a vary "me centric" life until it comes time to assign responsibility
but with that said. Shadowweaver and Hordak aren't the best role models for constructing a functioning identity ... especially given what we've learned recently.

I liked the first 4 episodes but the last 2 felt like a drawn out rehash of the season one episode where Catra and Adora get stuck reliving past memories. It doesn't help that I HATE these kinds of stories, especially the inevitable "I know in the new timeline you have no reason to know me, but everything about your life and family is wrong!!" drama moment...ugh.

while that's not impossible - its very unlikely, given that this series is drawing elements from a few places - Mara being a name taken from the "new adventures" He-man continuity ... for example.
I'd like to think the 2 characters in your spoiler box do not in fact do that thing, only because it makes for more weird time line weirdness -if Adora's past isn't different this time around than it was originally - given what that would suggest is going on elsewhere to another character right now off screen.

Picked up the Rebel Princess Guide from Scholastic today at B&N. It's mostly season one stuff, with a few bits from S2-3 (like Huntara). No episode guide, just characters and locations and a few other bits. It ends with an "I miss you and wish things had been different" letter from Adora to Catra that she claims she will never actually send, and is total ship-bait.
