So the Emperor in episodes 1 through 6 was a clone?

@  -LittleAutob... : (30 June 2020 - 05:55 PM)

x-x when in vehicle mode we can travel much F A R T H E R-

@  wonko the sane? : (30 June 2020 - 05:52 PM)

Because despite the fact that we can travel around the world in the time it takes to get a good nights sleep and a couple of meals: people rarely wander more than 25 miles away from home for the duration of their lives.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:49 PM)

I don't know how many days that trip takes - especially while sightseeing - but explaining they're 3936 kilometers (2445 miles) apart gives an idea, paradoxically because it is too large to easily picture.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 05:44 PM)

Aye.  When I catch lay people discussing miles and not how long the trip takes, it is in an attempt to stress how far away something is... like NYC to LA.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

But I can imagine 45 *minutes* easily.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:20 PM)

I can imagine a mile, it's a distance I've run. I can't really imagine 45 miles.

@  ▲ndrusi : (30 June 2020 - 01:19 PM)

I think there's also an element of the thing where things that are much bigger than us all blur together.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:49 AM)

If you're not, then you're more concerned with how long it takes.  Actual distance doesn't tell you that very well.  Besides traffic and road conditions, you'll need to know what kind of driving (city/interstate/rural/etc.).

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:47 AM)

Distance matters if you're being paid by the mile.

@  TM2-Megatron : (30 June 2020 - 11:44 AM)

Canadians are the same way, for the most part. If you're driving somewhere far, especially, it helps you plan out the day more than a distance in KM would.

@  Otaku : (30 June 2020 - 11:42 AM)

We use the time it takes to get someplace because that is what is relevant to us.

@  TheMightyMol... : (30 June 2020 - 10:55 AM)

Because even we can't figure out miles half the time.

@  Paladin : (30 June 2020 - 09:54 AM)

it's a big country with a lot of empty space. between our citizens' ears.

@  Bass X0 : (30 June 2020 - 09:52 AM)

Why do most Americans measure distance by hours of driving?

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 07:26 PM)

And as a result the world's lone blu-ray release of the film, an Australian disc that came out 7 years ago, now goes for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Thanks Disney.

@  TM2-Megatron : (29 June 2020 - 06:21 PM)

Well, they censored Daryl Hannah's butt in Splash :rolleyes

@  Paladin : (29 June 2020 - 05:43 PM)

maybe New Mutants is too bad even for D+.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 June 2020 - 05:00 PM)

X-Men films are coming to Disney+ next month. But will they censor Hugh Jackman's butt?

@  -LittleAutob... : (29 June 2020 - 12:44 PM)

Pft.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 June 2020 - 11:59 AM)

Behold! Night Strike Galvatron!

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 09:53 AM)

I will grant you a recolored body, and recolored troops to command.

@  Cybersnark : (29 June 2020 - 09:47 AM)

I don't want to be reissued. This body sucks, I wanna be updated.

@  Nevermore : (29 June 2020 - 09:43 AM)

I definitely don't intend to be reissued. Nobody would buy me.

@  Bass X0 : (29 June 2020 - 08:31 AM)

will anybody else attempt to be reissued?

Not me. Everybody praised the MYP stuff, but I never thought it all that special.
This looks to have actual characters.

There's some cruddy eps (like the Beach and the Buzz Off vs giants) but there's cool stuff too (Scientist Tri-Klops! Luv it! And Stinkor!).
I think the 2002 just made season 1 too episodic with the one toy character an ep. While I loved that my fave characters get to stand out, it just made Adam He-Man boring.
Is new She-Ra purposely de aged? Like, is she 15 or 16 or something?
I've heard she's 14. Can't be sure though.

If she's de-aged, she'd have to be 15 or 14. Believe it or not, she was technically supposed to be 16 in the Filmation show.

So was Prince Adam.

Haha, no waaaaay Prince Adam was 16 with that carbon copy body. Glad the Mike Young version made the Adam body significantly younger.

New She-Ra is 14? Yiiiiikes. In a war setting too. Isn't Aang 14 too when he escaped the iceberg?

How old is Pidge in the new Voltron again?

I'm placing Sokka from Avatar probably aged at 17 when he ended up in a tent with Suki for an obvious booty call. I can't recall how old he was when he had that water tribe rite of manhood thing in that ep in season 1 but if he was 16, then travelled for a year so he's almost legal with Suki, yikes.

Aang was twelve when he was trapped in the iceberg. Physically and emotionally, he was twelve when he got free. And most of the rest of the main cast from TLA were in their mid-teens or so.

As for Pidge, I'm not sure, but I think she's on the youngish side of her mid-teens too.

As mentioned Aang was 12.  It was 1 year between the start of the series and the end.

Kitara was 14, Sokka 15, Toph 12, Zuko 16, Azula 14, and Suki 15.

Pidge is said to be 15 in Season 1 and 16 by Season 6.

Yikes. So Sokka and Suki were 15 when the tent thing happened?

...

Well, I got nothing to worry about. Original She-Ra barely had any romance in it (since Seahawk only had 4-5 appearances?). Even 2002 He-Man had no relationshipping stuff (except for Fisto being a deadbeat dad. Yes, I know official word says Man-at-Arms was the father but Fisto would be soooo much better as the daddy). And other than Lance's comedic attempts, nothing in Voltron either.

New She-Ra probably won't be, uh, girly girly and put lovey dovey stuff in it. I think.

(that just makes me pause. Do toon shows aimed at girls have to have relationships and romance?)

Wait, did they actually establish that Duncan was the bio-dad for the 200X series at some point? Last I heard it was definitely meant to be Fisto, which seemed kind of disappointing.

I remember reading an interview or something that the writers say that the bio dad is really Duncan. Don't recall if they actually meant to reveal it in the supposed third season but their hint was Sorceress saying 'your daughter' to Duncan and he replies 'you mean, my adopted daughter' at the end of a season 2 ep.

I also loved the idea that it was Fisto. Same color hair, same belligerent attitude. It's not like Teela was tech oriented like Man-at-Arms.

I hope they do some sort of stuff like that for She-Ra. Like who was Glimmer's father? Or like how Sea Hawk's dad was still alive to give him an upgrade.

That'd be good. The way they showed it on TV, Duncan replying "My ADOPTED daughter" made him sound like a giant tool.

Me and the wife have been quoting it at each other for a decade and a half now.

Hahaha, that's horrible! I love it :)

Shoot, I should watch Secret of the Sword again. I don't recall how Randor and (Martha) Marlena and Adora reacted to meeting each other.

Watching the teaser, my thoughts:

1. When was this my little Pony Friendship is magic?

2. Adora's voice sounds kind off, in terms of how its presented, the best way to put it, it sounds awfully like something you would find with a fan voice project than a major studio

3. Animation seems ok

4. Honour of Greyskull, that is like so 1980s, what will she do after that, a pose similar to Sailormoon and say something about punishing whoever the bad guy is that week?

I might watch this, thou it might take a bit of getting use to with the character look, its not the 80s thing for me but rather the face desgin more than anything, the question is, how long will this last for Matel?

I'm going to say it again.

So far dreamworks stuff that has been made for netflix has been routinely very good. Trollhunter had... mediocre facial animation: but that's a known dreamworks flaw. The actions, the rest of the animations and the story were all spot on.

I'm genuinely looking forward to this.
