I kind of have to wonder, if this show was basically using the same script, but used the style of Sealab 2021 (using clips from the original show, with only a few new animated bits in the same classic style)...would people like it better?
I'm not going to say it's great, but using the original soundtrack IS hitting all my nostalgia buttons. And if anyone's on the edge with the show one way or another, watch "Panthro Plagarized". It's got a pretty good fight at the end...I'll admit, it's a complete character assassination for Panthro, but good fight scene animation.
I've only just seen eps 5-7. Hey, why did they change the intro from that really fast one?
I remember the Driller from the original series! (Mostly because he scared me). I also remember Thundrillium as their fuel. Man, all the music and theme cues are great! Dunno if it's just me remembering my childhood or cuz it makes the silly scenes seem so tense and exciting, hehe. (Am slightly freaked out at the moral implications of 'you rewired my brain thing and I'm happy! '. But Panthro did offer to turn it back, though the Driller really can't say no because, well, his Outlook changed artificially.)
Screw me, was that an actual The Last Unicorn reference?!?! Holy cow, that's AMAZING! I know Rankin Bass made both but, wow! If only they called her Amalthea or something close instead of Gwen, hehe. Also, a missed opportunity cuz Monkian and Jackalman DID wish for more fighting and, whoops, there's the Thundercats. The unicorns did grant that, hehe. (Crying Tygra is sad, haha)
Ok, ZakuConvoy is absolutely right. The gravity fight between Panthro and Vultureman was incredibly well done. I'm thinking the Ok KO creator is working on Roar too? It's a jawdropper, considering one doesn't expect that level of action in the show.
Other comments are Snarf is not Rush from Megaman, haha. Show the other characters other than the Berbils! Like Snow Meow! Hope they do a Trial of strength, speed, er, trickery, uh mind and evil like the 2011 version did.
