I agree with Broadside that the team choices felt a bit weakly themed and random. The theme of a race or demolition derby (which was it, exactly?) could've been stronger but I'm also used to the brackets being vague in general, so that doesn't bother me as much. It's usually not specifically "who would win in a fight" or "which character do you like more" or such, it's left up to the voters, which is how it should be IMO (I'll always point to the GameFAQs character battles as the shining example of these).
I'm not a fan of including non-Transformer characters either, to be blunt. And recognizing that I'm probably in the extreme minority on this one, but overall I'm not a fan of wackyness/randomness as a built-in theme. Let that come naturally from upsets or other results (like the eternal Sideways/Cogman tie). Baking it in from the get-go with stuff like Salt-Man Z and Steven Universe vs. Tracks and Rick & Morty goes too far the other direction. Maybe we'll never really get more than 50 people voting, but to me it'd be interesting to do something a bit more 'scientific' or census-y, such as a bracket full of every non-show Beast Wars character. Or every Decepticon leader, or every version of Optimus Prime, etc. Just sorta get the pulse of the fandom on stuff like that. Which is probably why my favorite one was the first (combiners) since it was a strong category that I was interested in seeing the results of.
