Then repaint Apeface and Snapdragon as Transmetal Optimus Primal and Megatron. It's crazy enough to work.

Snapdragon for Earthrise.

Still not the weirdest thing a Nic Cage character has done in a film

@  Rycochet : (04 December 2019 - 03:38 PM)

The Tim Burton Superman Movie is the DC movie we deserve. It would have Nic Cage in a technosuit punching polarbears.

Wonder Woman was great. Shazam was amazing. Aquaman... exists.

@  RichardT1977 : (04 December 2019 - 01:54 PM)

TBF, Aquaman and Shazam! were pretty good.

@  TheMightyMol... : (04 December 2019 - 01:00 PM)

Not a difficult feat.

@  Benbot : (04 December 2019 - 11:50 AM)

You just put more effort into telling a compelling story than all of WB's execs.

@  Cybersnark : (04 December 2019 - 11:41 AM)

Cue the flashback to Jonathan, reassuring a terrified child: "What you are is never as important as who you are." Cue Superman's response to Brainiac: "I already know who I am."*John Williams fanfare plays*

@  Cybersnark : (04 December 2019 - 11:38 AM)

I don't think we even really need to see Krypton. I'd start with Clark growing up in Kansas, thinking he's normal, and follow him through the development of his powers. There've been enough alternate takes on Krypton that it could actually work as a mystery; is this the pre-Crisis utopia, the sterile science world, or the relic of a fallen empire? Brainiac was there, and he tempts Clark with the knowledge of what he really is.

@  Otaku : (04 December 2019 - 11:12 AM)

First, a Krypton film, ending with baby Kal-El being found on Earth.  Then Supe's early career film, establishing his values... and if Jonothan Kent needs to die, it happens because of something like a heart attack while Clark is savnig folks on the other side of the world.  After we know Clark minimizes property damage and never kills, have Zod & Company show up and force him to make tough choices.

@  Otaku : (04 December 2019 - 11:07 AM)

Man of Steel seems like someone came up with a Superman trilogy and then the execs said "We've got to catch up to Marvel, make it one film!".  I don't mean that based on the film's actual pacing, but because various story beats make more sense to me if they weren't all squished together.

@  Cybersnark : (03 December 2019 - 07:44 PM)

I've been wanting to write a Superman movie trilogy for years; "Man of Steel" (featuring a Terminator-like Brainiac) was going to be first, with "Last Son of Krypton" (featuring the Eradicator) as the sequel and "Man of Tomorrow" (in which Luthor makes his face-heel turn) as the conclusion. Thanks to Snyder I have to re-arrange my titles.

@  Nevermore : (03 December 2019 - 06:15 PM)

I still wish "Man of Steel" had instead been an adaptation of both the John Byrne miniseries of the same name and the Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale miniseries "Superman For All Seasons".

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (03 December 2019 - 04:42 PM)

A take I just read: Man of Steel is shot with such a lack of lighting that it is easier to discern what is going on in a porn film.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 December 2019 - 12:20 PM)

Making Soylant is harder then it looks, it's not like the movies, you have to keep whacking and hacking at the ingredient, it'll scream and fight, maybe bite but eventually it will go down.

@  Maximus Ambus : (02 December 2019 - 09:31 AM)

Vegans are categorised as human therefore just fall under Soylant, they are usually all bones.

@  wonko the sane? : (01 December 2019 - 04:47 PM)

Cause... that latter one is technically all burgers anyway.

@  wonko the sane? : (01 December 2019 - 04:46 PM)

So... a burger made without meat, or a burger made with the meat taken from a vegan?

@  Maximus Ambus : (01 December 2019 - 04:22 PM)

I had a vegan burger last week, this week I'll give a vegan steak a shot.

I've got the admit. tubi tv is great. It's got a lot of stuff.. Including Super Sentai.

There is frankly no better place to (legally) find schlock on the internet for free than Tubi TV

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 November 2019 - 10:33 PM)

It's got all the graphic violence and gratuitous nudity a late 80s OVA should have.

Available for free with ads on Tubi TV.

@  Steevy Maximus : (29 November 2019 - 10:32 PM)

It's "Goku: Midnight Eye". Originally produced in the late 80s, it apparently wasn't dubbed until the late 90s given Steve Blum was the lead.

@  wonko the sane? : (29 November 2019 - 06:38 PM)

The description makes it sound like some high grade, mid 80's shlock. Which, frankly, is my groove.

@  TheMightyMol... : (29 November 2019 - 12:37 PM)

Was wondering how long it would take someone to ask.

@  wonko the sane? : (29 November 2019 - 09:58 AM)

okay, it's been like two days so far: what anime is this, cause I'm dying to know.

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 November 2019 - 09:23 PM)

You know you're in for a good time when an old anime starts with a crime lord uses roller skates in his cybernetic legs to skate down the side of the building, launches to a dock and into a getaway boat.

That's what I was hoping for. But here I am, at work the following day.

You say "die in bed" and I'm thinking "why is that a problem?".

@  fourteenwings : (26 November 2019 - 07:06 AM)

You did nothing, and so rocks fall down and you die.

@  TheMightyMol... : (25 November 2019 - 08:35 PM)

But that's not you doing something, that's something being done to you.

Modern movie magic is really something.  Ignoring living, breathing dinosaurs on screen for a moment, I went to see where the Lockwood Estate actually is.  It isn't.  They built that facade for the movie on some public land in England.  The interior scenes and even the rooftop scenes were sets at Pinewood Studios.

I finally got around to seeing this and I'm more excited for what comes next. Ever since the Lost World, there's always been that threat, "what happens if dinosaurs invade the mainland?" Well, now we have it.

It was an odd choice to set most of the movie inside a mansion, and these humans were walking, talking puppets of evil, but I did enjoy it. Blue is just a legitimate character and I'm ok with it. Maybe its because once I accepted 'volcano' as a plot device I opened my mind to anything, because that's something that might have annoyed me before. Or maybe current events just really makes me want to cheer for somebody.

Lots of other stuff I could get to, but I'm late to the party so only a few. I'm ok with Maisie being a clone, but.. how long ago did hammond and lockwood have their falling out? I feel the timeline here doesn't line up, maybe. Like when did his daughter die, when did hammond find out and get pissed? Name dropping Isla Sorna rules but...we ignore the fact the area became a preserve? Like, they couldn't have shuttled dinosaurs to this other island?

And speaking of Sorna, Malcolm was exactly who I wanted him to be but only having him bookend the movie is a shame. I feel with dinosaurs everywhere we need some of that OG cast back for Jurassic War, or whatever the next one is called.

Found the first one of the new sequels disappointing, this one i felt was much better and has some nice effects, more likable characters and felt like it was better than part 1 of the new sequels in my view and is underrated.

I've just been watching Fallen Kingdom for the first time on DVD, it wasn't bad per say but it really seems to have more focus on effects or puppets than the human element of the story. One thing I did sort of manage to establish from this film, is John Hammond's legacy has been pretty much screwed up or misread in favor of cooperate greed and its pretty much panadora's box than genie in a bottle.

I feel the island stuff was pretty much rushed in favor of the underground complex storyline with the idea of taking the Dinos off the island for good, also, did they forget, again about the other island where Dinos roam free without human involvement? I'm going to say, yes, they did, I think Jurassic World simply discard the previous sequels because everyone seems to have forgotten about the T-rex that was let loose in LA, I think it was, back in Lost World and people seem to have forgotten nature chose to wipe them out for a reason but then it seems like humans or rather Doctor Wu is pretty much obcessed with playing God. In general, the so called human villians of the film were really under developed, in this film, I mean the hunter character, he obcessed with Dino teeth, yet he should know better than to get into the cage of the most dangerous Dino made, to date.

For the third film, I think the story could be rather weak, because:

1. The Dinos as far as we are aware are all female, easy enough to track and kill the Predators, minus Blue but she would likely evenly die anyway as she was the last Raptor, so old age would take her along with wounds from traps she might step into bu accident

2. Lack of mates would lead to inbreeding and evenly they would die out due to genetic flaws.

The possible strengths of the third film, depends on how long its been since Fallen Kingdom:

If its been like ten years or so, there could be a lot of rouge scienists creating clones of clones and them being weapons on battlefields across the US (face it, it be very hard to sumgle a 60 ton living creature to another country and keep the creature alive) and there be normal people in hiding because the Dinos are loose and maybe gone rouge.

If less, maybe a year or two, the US Groverment would likely of setup a task force to deal with Dinos including tracking down the ones that were shipped out before hell broke loose at the complex, the kid who let them loose in the first place, cannot be held accountable because they are under age thou Fallen Kingdom teased the idea of her being a clone of someone who died and the housekeeper/childminder/carer could hold the truth unless its all written down in the book her grandfather was clinging to.

Overall from Fallen Kingdom, its a reasonable movie and at least sets up for the next installment in the series unlike another movie series that pretty much shot its self in the foot and keeps shooting its self, it will remain unanamed! JWFK, not bad but really lacks desent character moments, its pretty much a movie that wants to be a thrill ride than anything else and the lesson to take away from it is: The human race keeps repeating the same old mistakes, do not screw around with Mother nature, she fights dirty!

I liked Fallen Kingdom, but I still find Jurassic World to be my second favorite (after JP), as it was awesome to actually see the park in action.

On to the Isla Sorna stuff, they never mentioned it on screen, but it seems in 1999, between JP2 and 3, scientists went back to the island and cloned more dinosaurs, such as the Spinosaurus (which was mentioned in JP3 to not be on any of the lists), and the new dinos screwed up the ecosystem, so they brought them all to Jurassic World.

http://jurassicpark....a_(Movie_canon)

I do wish something had been mentioned on screen, but at least there is an official explanation.

I also think one of the biggest suspension of disbeliefs is that Claire was not nailed to the wall after the Jurassic World incident.  Being in charge of the island should have made her majorly responsible for what happened.  Instead, she creates the Dinosaur Protection Group...  (I like her character, so it is not all that bad)

I think Claire likely quit her job and the blame shifted to Ingen its self for mutable failures thou if I were the groverment and the island falls within their jurisdiction, I would hold a massive investation into what transpired on the island to cause the disaster and order a halt to all cloning of Dinos but then I think what was happening in JW2 was more the ilegal side and it was a black market auction and of course everything goes horribly wrong, again because life finds away, a way to screw things up massively. As for the extra Dinos, it was said in JP2 there was another island which was the real factory floor of the work, the lab on the park island was more for show and tell than anything else, so the other Dinos could of been produced there, John Hammond did say "No expense spared in the original and Doctor Wu seems to be building upon the work started by the founders of JP.

Actually, that is the second Island, Isla Sorna, where JP2 and 3 take place, whereas Isla Nublar is where JP1, 4, and 5 take place.  They were created on Isla Sorna then brought over to Isla Nublar.

I believe new fluff has been released when Fallen Kingdom came out regarding the two islands. Mostly ingen were creating 'off the books' dinosaurs from the beginning (Spino, Ankylosaurus ETC) on Sorna, and the restarting of Jurassic World by the Mazerani corp used and shipped serveral dinos from site B for their upstart island.

Still no explanation for how Rexy and the Brachiosaurus survived Nublar when the site was supposedly destroyed though.

It's a Newcomic (apparently)

By what? Bombs in the book but when did JP2 or 3 say the island was gone?

Even in the first JP, it never struck me that the film was trying to set Grant and Ellie up as a couple. Yeah, it seemed like they were kind of leading that dig together, but Ellie struck me as more of a senior graduate student, maybe finishing her PhD, while Grant was running the show (Sam Neill has a good 20 years on Laura Dern).
