@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 01:33 PM)

So, welcome to all retail, everywhere.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:24 PM)

Oh, and Greenpeace also conducted a protest at a German Amazon facility, to protest against Amazon's practice of throwing customer returns in the trash.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:17 PM)

Right, because with Amazon, it's just the employees that have to step in dog shit while having no space to breathe.[/slightexaggeration]

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (15 July 2019 - 01:03 PM)

At least I can use Amazon without losing the ability to breath or step in dog shit.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:58 PM)

Considering that Amazon is the new Walmart...

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:39 PM)

All of my best wishes go out to the brave women and men who have the balls (and ovaries) to go on strike at an Amazon facility in the US.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:38 PM)

Speaking of. Not only are we in Germany on strike today, but so is the fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota!

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 12:36 PM)

Overnight delivery is the right of all sentient beings.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:34 PM)

(and is it sexist of me to assume that a character named "Amazon Prime" would be feminine?)

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:34 PM)

Whenever she was summoned, she would arrive the next day?

@  NotVeryKnightly : (15 July 2019 - 12:32 PM)

The Scioli and Barber TF vs Joe series mentioned an Amazon Prime.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:22 PM)

Meanwhile I'm wondering why no one's come up with a fan character named "Amazon Prime". I mean, today IS her special day...

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 11:20 AM)

The Wallet-Eater.

@  unluckiness : (15 July 2019 - 08:44 AM)

Woah. Unicron broke the site.

@  MEDdMI : (14 July 2019 - 10:08 PM)

Is that what kids are calling it these days?

@  TheMightyMol... : (14 July 2019 - 07:33 PM)

Ssshh, you'll get us both "dealt with".

@  RichardT1977 : (14 July 2019 - 07:28 PM)

No, but I did *read* it from you...

@  TheMightyMol... : (14 July 2019 - 03:06 PM)

The first real long-term space outposts belong to the Illuminati, but you didn't hear that from me.

@  RichardT1977 : (14 July 2019 - 02:50 PM)

Er, in SF I mean.

@  RichardT1977 : (14 July 2019 - 02:50 PM)

Yeah, the first long-term manned space outposts have traditionally been mining colonies and the like.

@  TheMightyMol... : (14 July 2019 - 12:19 PM)

Okay, but......do they have to be willing to be sent up?

@  Rycochet : (14 July 2019 - 11:10 AM)

A king isn't a king without subjects.

@  Rycochet : (14 July 2019 - 11:09 AM)

The rich will never flee to space until there's enough an underclass up there so they have someone to do all the jobs they won't. Same reason seasteading never takes off.

@  TheMightyMol... : (14 July 2019 - 10:45 AM)

Do we have to let them come back?

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 July 2019 - 10:35 AM)

Well, it's only going to be the ultra-rich who are able to go for the first couple decades at least, so I doubt anyone's going to care much

@  Nevermore : (14 July 2019 - 10:32 AM)

They could be standing on the surface of the moon, insist they're in the middle of a giant set, and take off their helmet to "prove" it.

@  Nevermore : (14 July 2019 - 10:31 AM)

Assuming these are genuinely convinced conspiracy morons and not just internet trolls, I would assume "not a lot".

@  Nevermore : (14 July 2019 - 10:31 AM)

I wonder how all these recent private and international space travel programs are going to affect those craziacs who insist that the Earth is flat/the moon landing was forged/outer space isn't real etc.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 July 2019 - 09:34 AM)

@  unluckiness : (14 July 2019 - 09:17 AM)

Have you considered a trapdoor spike pit?

@  unluckiness : (14 July 2019 - 09:17 AM)

It's not the worst gift but not evryone may want one given rising fuel prices.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 July 2019 - 08:22 AM)

Is a fire pit too literal for a house warming gift?

@  Noideaforaname : (14 July 2019 - 07:43 AM)

Welp, just realized everyone's been talking about Halle BAILEY this week, not BERRY. (so that's why i haven't been seeing CatFishWoman memes...)

@  MEDdMI : (14 July 2019 - 07:08 AM)

Oh, sounds like fun.I wonder if I have a decent mic lying around.

@  Pinkcolliebot : (13 July 2019 - 07:26 PM)

Casting call for TF Roll Out Shorts! https://www.behindth...y/casting-call/

@  Kalidor : (13 July 2019 - 03:05 PM)

Talking about the show in chat is absolutely fine - posting spoilers on anything that's current season isn't tho

@  Arazyr : (13 July 2019 - 07:05 AM)

Yeah, I'm a season or so behind, so I would definitely appreciate no spoilers. 8^)

@  Sabrblade : (12 July 2019 - 10:21 PM)

Still, though, yeah, we do have a thread for the show. Best to use it.

@  Sabrblade : (12 July 2019 - 10:20 PM)

I think Nevermore once said he was a few episodes behind, so I don't think he's talking about tonight's new episode.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (12 July 2019 - 09:53 PM)

Yeah, you realize we have a designated thread for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., right?

@  MEDdMI : (12 July 2019 - 09:35 PM)

Not that I care about the show, but I'd be pretty annoyed about spoilers there. Please post it in a thread.

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 06:05 PM)

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. The opening of the episode was a deliberate play with clichés, but unfortunately, the rest of the episode that's played straight is also riddled with them...

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:45 PM)

Also, why are they so pissed that Deke built a start-up company? What would they have preferred - him continuing being a freeloader?

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:44 PM)

But now everyone keeps picking up the idiot ball. Geez.

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:43 PM)

That's what I always loved about the show - creative ways to play with tropes and subvert them by making the characters smarter than your typical fictional character doofus.

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:43 PM)

Why is everyone suddenly genre-blind?

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:42 PM)

Wasn't it just last season when Mack was so super-genre-savvy that he insisted on NOT SPLITTING UP?

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:42 PM)

And again, too many characters acting like idiots.

@  Nevermore : (12 July 2019 - 05:41 PM)

Seriously, Agents of SHIELD? Now you're straight ripping off "Alien"?

A thread for whatever, I mean. Basically I'm re-watching Prime hoping it won't be so... eeehh, and want to post my musing. Join in if you want I guess.

Darkness Rising

is still one of the stronger series openers. Usually these things are weirdly clunky or just distractingly different, but this one's actually pretty solid. Still, there are a few apparent plot threads that never really went anywhere. Big thing I noticed is the rather mature look at the violence; Raf gets seriously overwhelmed by it, Jack grimly realizes robots can die, while Miko enjoys it, seemingly unable to see it as violence... which could have been really interesting if it carried over to Bulkhead gets badly injured way down the line.

Dunno if the intent was there (it obviously doesn't carry forward), but the Decepticons kinda had a bit of a shadow government feel to them, what with the Vehicons being unmarked cars and Soundwave being a drone.

Starscream and Ratchet -- wow! I had forgotten just how good they were in this! And I got Knock Out to look forward to, too.

And I do appreciate how the show feels Movieverse-ish but better, even if it's maybe trying too hard at being "epic."

"Humans go... squish", Megatron casually asking Starscream to kill himself (for the cause!), Bulkhead totally willing to let Fowler get captured and killed by the Decepticons. :D

800px-DarknessRising5-Michelangelo.jpg

This scene really grabs me for some reason. I mean, a deranged warlord's bringing and entire planet's worth of zombies to conquer Earth, but seeing the two desperately trying to grab each other's hands before everything blows up is kinda oddly sympathetic.

Random design observation: does Starscream's shoulder ever snag with the gaps in his chest?

Masters and Students

Or the Skyquake episode. He's got a nice color scheme. So does his bro Dreadwing. With Starscream they're a nice modern realistic update to the old Seeker idea, now that I think on it. Kinda wish they'd done a few more fighter jets.

It's too bad the character designs don't change with the alt modes. Doesn't seem like it'd be too hard to do, given how minimal the kibble is. Ah well.

And scale... it is what it is, but how strange it is to see one jet bot dwarf another.

Starscream trying to command while Soundwave reigns him in, not even by actively doing anything but recording him, or even just Starscream fearing he's recording him -- I really like this (there goes that shadow government theme again) and wish the entire series was built around this dynamic. Or at least the first season or so. Instead the immediately get Megatron back on the ship; sure he's comatose, but I'd love to see Soundwave carry out Megatron's will regardless if he's even there or not.

Optimus tries convincing the Cons to switch sides! We never really get that anywhere, do we? I mean, Optimus doesn't really know these guys, he's not pleading with a former friend to change back, they're just enemies and he's inviting them to his side (and well, he's trying to stop the Decepticons from recovering from the loss of Megatron). That's kinda interesting how he's treating the factions as fluid like that.

And THIS is the episode with Ratchet's science projects! It's like trying to find the swear jar episode of Simpsons, the subplot really stands out but has nothing to do with the rest of what's happening.

Random design observation (is this gonna be a regular thing?): Waaaaay back when I first saw this show, I wondered if Soundwave maybe was all Mini-Cons -- or like a stick figure of a bot with armor that was a half dozen little bots. Laserbeak blends in so well, how could you tell if the wing-arms or the legs weren't also secretly robots? Would've added to the creepy unknowable factor.

I mean I've never accidentally got my thumb caught in my nostril. LOL

But I've accidentally poked myself in the eye with glasses on. Starscream's shoulders got little spiky bits that keep hovering near the clavicle gaps he's got. Kinda expect him to get stuck together at some point just by lifting his arms or something..

Scrapheap

PrimeScrapletsEp7.gif

Scraplets! They're adorable and it's a shame we never got anything official of them (plushes would've been amazing). Also didn't realize before but they have tiny little arms. I'm pretty sure this episode's supposed to be "scary" but just look at the little darlings! Probably doesn't help that I'm reminded of Tribble-style episodes from other shows, where they're more a nuisance than a major threat.

The scraplet trap just happening to land on Earth makes me think of the infamous Andalite toilet...

Arcee and Optimus share a tender, non-romantic moment, d'aw. It's kinda interesting that this doesn't go anywhere; it's not the start of a romance or anything, they're just comforting each other in the face of death. That's really sweet and really rare.

Bulkhead gets some fat jokes and screams like a little girl... which really seems weird now after hearing how a show like Duck Tales has to avoid that kind of humor. I mean, I like Optimus's awkward "too big for this world line" and the screams are hilarious just because of how deep Kevin Michael Richardson's voice is, but still this episode is only..... 6 years old already?! Whoa.

There's also the effect of making Bulkhead more rounded than just "badass fighter guy." Thank god.

Con Job

Wheeljack's debut, and eh. He's just not a character archetype I have any interest in... while G1 Wheeljack was. I try not to hold new interpretations up to the originals, but ugh. He at least got a really good toy with an amazing repaint (actually, a lot of neat repaints; that was one versatile toy).

This episode starts the whole "Autobots effortlessly kill a hoard of Vehicons", which... ugh. I mean, it's actually Makeshift (damn Starscream, did you just order these Vehicons to die?) but it definitely becomes a pattern.

"Who's the boyfriend?" Say, we don't really get romances in this cartoon, do we? Huh.

Convoy

A vehicle-based action story! For some reason I had kinda forgotten about this episode besides "MECH appears", but I really enjoyed it on the rewatch, and not just because it feels "new" compared to the last couple.

Trees, my god. Both Optimus and some MECH goon get smacked by trees. Is this gonna become a thing?

And Arcee just totally killed those guys in the cars, didn't she? They've been careful to show the goons crawl out of the other cars, but not for the ones that exploded.

The Vehicons don't drop like flies here. Or at least the scenes are cut in such a way to imply the two sides are evenly matched, even if outside that tree smacking the 'Cons don't get many hits in.

"How about some radio? You seem like a Nashville sound kinda guy." Now I want to know what everyone's playlists are.

I have an inordinate attachment to Scraplets, partly because their episode was one of the best in Prime, but also because of this.

Xu0rJ5d.jpg

The combination of this fact and the relatively small mindshare I devote to either results in the fact that I've actually called scraplets "parasprites" by mistake.

It's not a favorite episode of mine, but it's one that immediately springs to mind when i think about Prime, along with 'Roided Ratchet and Starscream and Knock Out's vampire-zombie misadventure.

Deus ex Machina

Knock Out debuts! ...and Breakdown, too.

These two were off ship doing... whatever, and I kinda wonder where all the Decepticon forces are. Like, the impression is they're all on the Nemesis, or scattered across the universe, but Knock Out and Breakdown are apparently just wandering about on Earth. It'd be kinda interesting if there were other small bases around the globe, doing their own thing but ultimately following Starscream.

Speaking of which, he was totally aiming at Knock Out and/or Breakdown with that Energon Harvester, and the Vehicon only got hit because the two jumped out of the way in time. Le gasp!

BotAndHerCity-illustriousleader.jpg

:)

(y'know, this could've lead to a neat "Madness of King Scar" kind of thing where Screamer projects all his fears onto Soundwave while completely ignoring all his followers he's pissing off)

"You're one of those."
"Come again?"

:D

Part of me wishes they went there, but between the current comics and Steven Universe I'm ok with Prime keeping things platonic.

Breakdown fires an actual missile! I think all the firearms have been lasers up to this point.

Arcee's looking really pink this episode. I think it's just the glass part of her chest, but somehow it seems like more?

Now I want to know what everyone's playlists are.

Well, Bulkhead likes heavy metal or whatever, at least.

*sees a pair of legs* "It's Arcee! .....no wait, it's Soundwave!!" Hehe, always love it when the writers actually look at the character designs for jokes. *glares at Roberts*

Speed Metal

A blaah street racing episode, but the one that really made me fall in love with Knock Out. Really, I'm not too sure what to say about it. It's got some hoomins, some silly attempts at lying, and a poor vain robit getting slightly damaged.

Predatory

F41S5g6.jpg

Horror villain Airachnid appears! At least I'd like to remember her as a horror villain, she kinda ends up Starscream's understudy...

She's been spending her time slowly torturing various alien races into extinction... which sounds like it'd take an exceedingly long time to do, though I suppose if you're functionally immortal you've got plenty of time to while away. And judging by her "trophies" most of the universe's denizens are huge! Seriously, Arcee's like the size of their head. We humans would be ants to them! The alien heads are also rather monstrous looking, but it's hard to tell if that's natural or if Airachnid's preserving them damaged.

Spider-gal and drill modes really look like they came from toys, don't they? Obviously they weren't, but they got that feel.

It's also really weird seeing Tailgate in this, back before he became famous but also somehow still netting a toy.

"Has anyone used the word "predatory" to describe your behavior?"

"Only as a compliment."

Sick Mind

Sure are a lot of coincidences in this one. Ratchet futzes around with radio frequencies at the same time as the Decepticon warship's shields are down, yet another crashed Cybertronian ship happens to have crashed on Earth, and the one time the Autobots need to ask something from Megatron is the one time he's not able to fight back. Meh.

Starscream and Knock Out scheme against Megatron and Soundwave, yay! Though Starscream puts it as "scratching your back", which is really weird considering how Speed Metal ends. And trying to convince Soundwave to pull the plug on Megatron almost comes across like he's his spouse ("speak now or forever hold your peace" doesn't help)... I know they're asking him so it's a public mercy killing and not like a secret coup, but still. (hmm maybe they are married; might explain the loyalty...)

Arcee and Bumblebee go aboard to find the cure to the plague Optimus caught, and a really upset Ratchet demands that Arcee search the computers using... "redundant quantum algorithms"? Ummm....

[obligatory language warning]

Bumblebee dives into Megatron's mind using forbidden Decepticon tech! I *love* how this is a plot point! Bee makes adorable confused boops and everything quickly goes to hell. Arcee makes a badass exit sorta killing Megatron, but of course he's...

Out of His Head

and in Bumblebee's. Again, I love that this is a plot point. Not quite as interestingly done this time, but still thrilled they even went there.

Meanwhile Starscream is mocking Megatron's corpse by playing keep away with a sliver of Dark Energon, which raises the question just how differently would this episode play out had, like, Soundwave found out and jammed it back in?

"Prime, you spot any Decepticons wearing hula skirts lately?"

...

...

...

DPQBGXZ.jpg

HEADCANON!

Ratchet is real dismissing of Raf while he's giving a heartfelt speech about family, 'cause Ratch is racist or whatever. An interesting twist which adds some much-needed conflict amongst the Autobots.

Screamer's got some crazy ploy going on in the Arctic, which leads to some neat action scenes like Breakdown just plummeting to Earth and Optimus driving straight into a giant heat ray! Raf valiantly attempts to stop Megatron (who somehow can speak in Bee's body), but gets swatted instantly. But hey, gotta appreciate the effort.

.... why don't I like this show again?

Well ok, Megatron isn't nearly as interesting as Starscream, and he's re-starting his reign with a promise he's not going to keep (not that I'd want Screamer dead), so....

.... why don't I like this show again?

Something I think about Prime a lot. It's a divisive show like Animated, because like Animated it actually has good qualities, in addition to being Transformers and therefore deeply flawed, and without the benefit of time, distance, and being Beast Wars. It's one of the three shows worth talking about, so why is it the only one of them I don't like?

I feel Prime nailed some of its characters in a way that made them memorable and significant figures in the TF canon - maybe not in the long game within the show, or at the level of character complexity and dynamics, but at the level of really appealing caricatures that would be powerful assets to any other TF series and are genuinely enjoyable to watch. I also think it strikes a serious tone that raises expectations and makes a lot of the usual Transformers-ness that would only be slightly embarrassing and dweebish unbearable instead, while making the whole emotional pallette feel drab and lifeless. It also doesn't play well with the severe animation-budget-imposed restrictions in the story and characters.

My biggest beef with Prime is so many of the characters are just dull, and don't at all feel like a tight-knit group. I find I'm willing to put up with a lot of bullshit if I get the sense that the cast are actually, like, friends. We get a bit of this with Starscream and Knock Out (and as such they're my favorites), but all the Autobots are kinda just... coworkers.

Another issue I have is wasted potential and the status quo, and well...

Shadowzone
has Megatron making that mistake he said he'll never make again, and Miko totally learning not to go running off towards danger. Urf.
(also, does Megatron know where the Autobot base is since he was in Bumblebee? Makeshift died to get this info, is Megs just gonna ignore it?)

But extradimensional zombies and Starscream scheming!

"You cannot harm me while Dark Energon flows through my veins!"

*immediately gets arm shot off*

:D

And apparently his arm is a vital component of his jet mode, as he can't fly back to the Nemesis. It sure doesn't look like it, though. Knock Out tries to find a replacement, but Screamer is evidently "obsolete" -- a fascinating concept brought up just for a "you're old" joke. Goes with the idea of Transformers being "products", which presumably have to keep upgrading themselves or else get phased out (which... could just be the robot equivalent of retirement, instead of a Functionistic "recall'). A later episode implies that all Decepticons start off as plain Vehicons, and the named 'Cons are all customized, hmm...

Although it really looks like the gun is what's old, not really himself.

And for some reason I thought this episode ended with Starscream trying to get Knock Out to make do with Skyquake's arm, as well as the reverse happening.

(what DID happen with Skyquake's arm?)

Bulkhead somehow manages to not smash Miko's cell phone. In fact poking it somehow flipped it open?

Optimus smiles!

The Vehicon that bridges Starscream back really wants an explanation, but knows not to piss him off.

Starscream pops out the Dark Energon he crammed in himself. Huh. I was wondering if he's basically "damned" like Megatron is, but guess not.

Jack... is kinda an idiot for not thinking to pick up Raf's glasses. I get he was chased by a zombie and all, but he acts like Raf doesn't need glasses to see.

And Miko's coloring. Always love seeing what characters do to amuse themselves. Or to pretend to amuse themselves...

One of the show's pitfalls was wasted potential. They would start of with a decent idea or story build, but more often than not there was no payoff.

My biggest beef with Prime is so many of the characters are just dull, and don't at all feel like a tight-knit group. I find I'm willing to put up with a lot of bullshit if I get the sense that the cast are actually, like, friends. We get a bit of this with Starscream and Knock Out (and as such they're my favorites), but all the Autobots are kinda just... coworkers.

Yeah, that's the weird thing, that Prime has characters that are individually interesting, but don't actually do anything or have interesting dynamics. I mean, Soundwave is memorable but alien in a way that really precludes meaningful character dynamics, so he's kinda excluded from that, but. Starscream and Knockout have a good dynamic and are individually good characters. There's the Bulkhead / Miko dynamic. But nothing else actually stands out. Ratchet I remember for his quirks and tics and preferences, but not any actual relationships. And characters like mute Bumblebee just filling space in the cast without doing anything distinctive sure don't help.

Shouldn't gravity be doing something?

Of course there's a figure of Rodimus as some kind of animal girl. Why would I be surprised by this?

Operation: Breakdown

Hoo boy. Speaking of wasted potential....

Bulkhead constantly brings up his rivalry with Breakdown. I was kinda wondering if this wasn't just something the fandom blew out of proportion from that "we have a history" line in that earlier episode, but no it's a major deal here. Not that we ever find out just why they hate each other, or see this amount to anything.

Breakdown gets captured by MECH. Starscream attempts a rescue but Megatron (who apparently has no plans at all going on) writes him off for dead. That should be harsh, but now I'm really distracted by the fact that Megs hasn't gotten any kind of goal or anything. Just staring at walls while the ship flies aimlessly.

MECH starts tearing apart Breakdown, somehow having already discovered how to turn off his pain receptors. Bwuh? How? Why?

They start with his eye, gah! Drilling straight into it? Erm, well, it does seem like there's a protective lens over the eyeball itself... hey, now that I think on it, don't the Autobots have exposed eyeballs while the Decepticons have lenses? Huh.

Optimus decides to go save Breakdown because of the Tyrest Accord (well, no, but kinda), and I guess out of friendliness or something. Bulkhead gets left behind because he'd probably go kill him, but Miko convinces him to go of course, and Bulk goes and kills people while making bizarre callbacks (Marco/Polo, what?) and apparently getting the whole team stuck in Russia because nobody's able to open the groundbridge.

Breakdown gets saved and drives off, but is stopped by Starscream who's just hovering in jet mode. It's really quite creepy. Screamer demands Break take his side when he inevitably fights back against Megatron... but lol like we'll ever see this plot come up.

(boy I really jinxed it with that "why don't I like this show" crack)

Starscream transforms his left arm into a gun but not the replaced right one. Hmm. Not an important detail or anything, but you can imagine he's only wearing this arm until Knock Out can find the old version he likes.

Also, Fowler likes creature double features! Or not, given he fell asleep midway through.

Crisscross

MECH again already. Also, Airachnid, who's evidently been hanging out in the woods killing people. Maybe. There are webs everywhere, but nothing else. They team up and immediately find out everything about Jack, and abduct his mom to lure out Arcee. Wow, they've barely been in any episodes, that's pretty impressive.

Airachnid toys with Jack while MECH immediately goes back on their deal and attempt to yank out Arcee's spark, but she immediately breaks free and jumps Airachnid. Jack and Arcee team up and bury Airachnid in concrete, which she breaks out of (almost) immediately. Goodness, that's a lot of immediatelys.

Airachnid scans Fowler's helicopter ("Not again!") and turns into a different helicopter.  I guess it's just a suggestion? Regardless, MECH apparently figures out how Transformers gain alternate modes... or at least that they shoot eye lasers to do it. (didn't Silas do a similar scan of Optimus already?) MECH's whole learning how Transformers function seems a bit random. Like there's no structure to it, they encounter bots and somehow gain info, it's not like they actually struggle with making their machines do certain things and go after the Transformers for specific details.

June Darby finds out about the Transformers, and we get a redo of the whole "meeting the Autobots" bit. Seems kinda early for a trip down memory lane.

(slightly weird also watching Troll Hunters, quite a bit of similarities going on...)

Metal Attraction

MetalAttraction-JackJuneEep.jpg

Err, yeaaaaaah... this episode's about magnetic attraction.

Despite MECH knowing everything about them, the Darbys apparently still lead a normal life, instead of having to stay with the Autobots or something.

Raf also sometimes goes off-roading with Miko and Bulkhead. Huh, didn't think he was to type to enjoy that.

Arcee and Bulkhead go and find the polarity gauntlet (and Miko, and their rivals), a weapon that sounds like it'd completely wreck everything back on Cybertron. Between that and Scraplets, Cosmic Rust, and the like you'd expect the planet to look more... like the original cartoon, I guess. Here it just glues bots back-to-back and repels a torpedo for a little bit. Eh.

Rock Bottom

Miko decides to run off into danger AGAIN. The heck is this show repeating itself for? Two MECH episodes, two Airachnid VS Arcee, two Miko being Miko...

Starscream and Megatron also un-coincidentally to go into the same cave (and somehow don't hear the Autobots and kids), because Screamer's got a secret stash in there and Megatron is gonna kill him because of it. Great, got no plans of his own but he just keeps threatening the Con that actually did stuff. It's utterly bizarre that I'm more sympathetic to the bot that just casually kills his own men.

Also, Megatron's got some serious derp eyes going.

Mdpzndk.gif

Maybe if you didn't stare at walls all day you wouldn't be wall-eyed.

Megatron causes a cave in, trapping everyone. Starscream escapes, but quickly realizes he's completely hugged regardless has to go back to save Megs. That's honestly really sad, and it's a damn shame his story arch ultimately leads him to be a loyal lackey.

Jack takes control of a drill and go to dig out his pals, but first finds Megatron! Who tries goading him into killing him, huh. Megatron sounds rather sincere, not flippant or sarcastic, like he dreads being buried alive or has some odd warriors code or something.

Jack also picked up on "scrap" and "roll out", heh.

Arcee is kinda just lost somewhere, while Bulkhead is trapped holding a big ol' boulder over Miko who's running out of air. Oh no! Really, as annoying as Miko can be at times, the pair being actual friends makes me, like, care about them. Also maybe helps that this miserable claustrophobic situation is utterly terrifying to me.

"Run Miko!"
"Yes, run Miko! I would love to see you try! Really, I would!"

I'm immediately reminded of Starscream's 'I just love it when your little insect feet try to run!' line in DotM.

Random design observation: Bulkhead's jaw is weird. You'd think it's a full chin, but it's this flat metal sheet in the shape of one, leaving a big gap between it and his actual chin.

Arcee pulls a Jungle Book and has Starscream take Bulkhead's place (that beleaguered "...awww" :D ), who later is found by Megatron, who just... stares? He's kinda unreadable.

Ugh, this latest string of episodes has been pretty blah, this show's gotta pick back up before season two, right? *looks up next ones* Yes!
