@  Maximus Ambus : (29 September 2020 - 01:35 AM)

Ever notice Kath SOucie's Janine in the later episodes of Real Ghostbusters sounds like Tara Strong's Sari Sumdac?

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:10 PM)

I wish they were more universal like Beast Wars, Animated or Prime and as professionally done,

@  Maximus Ambus : (28 September 2020 - 02:06 PM)

The Netflix shows are done for adults, the Generation toyline is for adults who grew up with G1.

@  Sabrblade : (28 September 2020 - 12:53 PM)

Who said it ever was?

@  -LittleAutob... : (28 September 2020 - 12:43 PM)

Whatever happened to WFC Earthrise being a kids show X'D

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 11:43 AM)

Cool, my last tablet couldn't run it, and I stopped caring by the time I got the new one. So thanks!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:27 AM)

There are crossover characters, but the amount and distribution... Marvel Vs Capcom this ain't.  If @wonko the sane? my bad!

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:21 AM)

I've been playing for *checks account* 1002 days, 23 hours.  So, by 2021, it will have been three years.  I think it takes place in its own continuity, largely inspired by G1 but borrowing from other places.

@  Otaku : (28 September 2020 - 11:19 AM)

@wonko the sane? Can only speak for Earth Wars, but so few they're easy to forget.

@  wonko the sane? : (28 September 2020 - 07:39 AM)

Didn't they already do the across universes thing in that tablet game?

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:30 AM)

Also, make the setting an amalgamation of different Transformers series, rather than based on a specific one. Bring in things like 'Sentinel Major' as the primo Autobot jerk, and sleek car mode Vehicons as the Decepticons' basic grunt.

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:27 AM)

KT just needs to incorporate the vehicle modes into the combat system, like Platinum did for Devastation, so they're for more than just wheeling it across the battlefield. =P

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 05:25 AM)

Transformers: Warriors of Cybertron! =D

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (28 September 2020 - 05:15 AM)

I want a Power Rangers Mosu. I would also take a Transformers Mosu. :D

@  TheMightyMol... : (28 September 2020 - 04:50 AM)

It even ended on a sequel hook.

@  Demovere Xeno : (28 September 2020 - 04:40 AM)

Man, I just want another Devastation game... =(

@  NotVeryKnightly : (28 September 2020 - 01:53 AM)

Aren't TFs way more varied than Joes, as far as they'd work in gameplay? Like, Omega Supreme is vastly different from Bumblebee.

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

Hell, ripoff Super Robot Wars withTFs

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 10:16 PM)

IDK they could make something like FF tactics or Fire Emblem ripoff with Robots and i'd buy it

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 09:43 PM)

See, I feel GI Joe (with it's varied cast) is a better fit for a strategy game, where as Transformers feels more suited for a shooter.

@  Maruten : (27 September 2020 - 08:28 PM)

I might give them points for making a strategy game if it's actually a good strategy game.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:48 PM)

I mean, points for making a strategy game instead of third person shooter, but: urrrrgggg. Cyberverse.

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 07:47 PM)

A transformers game for the switch? *checks* Urrrggg... cyberverse...

@  Steevy Maximus : (27 September 2020 - 06:28 PM)

October will be a big month for Hasbro fans: Zoids, GI Joe AND Transformers all have brand new console games. All on the Switch at that!

@  wonko the sane? : (27 September 2020 - 09:04 AM)

At least in animated he was more driven than just "loyal bootlick".

@  unluckiness : (27 September 2020 - 08:29 AM)

Oof, That's a huge downgrade

@  Maximus Ambus : (27 September 2020 - 02:35 AM)

After rewatching Animated Sound and Fury, in my head canon Titans Return Soundwave is that Soundwave.

@  wonko the sane? : (26 September 2020 - 04:09 PM)

On an unrelated note: I just got the BBTS email about kingdom pre-orders... and even the stuff I don't want I'm perfectly willing to get if it means I can have the rest of it.

@  wonko the sane? : (26 September 2020 - 04:08 PM)

It's digimon. So first one, then the other.

@  TheMightyMol... : (26 September 2020 - 12:53 PM)

50/50 odds, it's either a helicopter with limbs, or a scantily-clad human with heli blades on their back. If female, 90% odds on the second one.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (26 September 2020 - 12:39 PM)

I read that as "Helicoptermon" and wondered what kind of Digimon that was.

@  Bass X0 : (26 September 2020 - 12:35 PM)

Helicopter-mom, transform!

@  Maximus Ambus : (25 September 2020 - 11:58 PM)

Aw I scratched the hood of my 35th anniversary Bluestreak. Fortunately he's in robot mode a lot.

@  Sabrblade : (25 September 2020 - 07:24 PM)

No decoration could improve the wall more than Knockout himself

@  TheMightyMol... : (25 September 2020 - 05:04 PM)

The wall could use some decorating, though. Maybe a nice shelf or a portrait.

@  -LittleAutob... : (25 September 2020 - 04:32 PM)

I'm laughing so hard XDDD

@  ▲ndrusi : (25 September 2020 - 02:31 PM)

@  TheMightyMol... : (24 September 2020 - 01:00 PM)

Having not watched it yet, I'm glad to read this.

As I thought the one last year was pretty forgettable, and fell asleep towards the end.  :D

Split this out into its own thread for ease of discussion.

This year it's basically just a four-episode mini-series in all but the most technical sense. There's not even an individual title card for each show - there's a shared one that only says "Crisis on Earth-X".

Really enjoyed the first half. Arrow's trademark manufactured drama dragged things down a little bit, but not enough to ruin it or anything.

The only way to really know what show you're watching is to read the opening credits.  Contractually, Willa Holland, Katie Cassidy, and Paul Blackthorne need to be credited in every episode of "Arrow", but they were sadly absent from the proceedings tonight.

That said, there was so much joy to be had in this first half, I just absolutely loved it.  My random musings:

  • Crazy that we're a third of the way into the season, and this is the first time we've seen Guardian on "Supergirl".  LOVED seeing his shield decoed like the original Captain America shield, that was genius.
  • Sweet moment when Prof. Stein and Caitlin remember the last wedding they went to together was hers and Ronnie's.
  • Only Jesse L. Martin could make me weepy with a speech about his children marrying each other.  Anyone else, I would be sneaking out of there at the first opportunity.
  • We still have yet to see Lily Stein's boyfriend, and I'm wondering if there's a surprise reveal to that.
  • Ugh, more Olicity drama...  The writers evidently didn't take any lessons from Arrow season 4.
  • My head exploded when Sara asked Alex, "How's your butt?" before reminding us that Alex fell out of bed.  :doh
  • I'm a little sad that Captain Singh didn't actually recognize Mick, they could've mined a little more comedy from that.  (I'm assuming the President pardoned Mick after the events of "Invasion!", so he can walk down the street without getting arrested.)
  • I'm going to assume that Linda Park, Jesse Quick, and Jay Garrick weren't able to save the date for one reason or another.
  • That wedding usher with the water is pretty obviously Barry and Iris's descendant...  Prevailing theories are it's their daughter Dawn, or HER daughter XS.
  • I kinda wish they'd gotten a different song for Kara to sing, but it was a nice callback to the musical episode.
  • The minister officiating the wedding is William Katt, the Greatest American Hero.  (I -think- his facial hair is supposed to resemble the GAH symbol, which I find kinda tacky.)
  • "Who's Tommy Merlyn?"  Barry, you worked with Malcolm, you should at least be able to guess this out.
  • "Just a quick reminder: Super speed.  I don't have it!"  :D
  • It really doesn't make sense how Oliver would know about or find Kryptonite, but I'll just let that go.  I'm kinda glad they didn't use the comics reasoning of "only Kryptonite from your universe affects you", since that just complicates things further.

Goes without saying that I loved all the action too.  This was so good, and I'm surprised that they were able to keep as many elements secret as they did.

Regarding Jay not being at the wedding I guess itd be difficult to explain to the regular people at the wedding who he was what with him looking exactly like Barrys dead father. Which leads me to wonder how Harry could be there without being arrested.

Also Im sure there are out of universe factors but Im surprised only a portion of the Legends seems to have been invited to the wedding. Im especially surprised that Iris and Barry invited Mick but not Ray.

Was anyone else a little bummed by the Earth-Xer's Flash-equivalent ally just being Earth-1 Eobard Thawne somehow not dead (again) and somehow back in Harrison Wells' body... instead of being Earth-X's own Flash (be it Earth-X Barry, Earth-X Jay, Earth-X Wally, or whichever evil version of a good guy speedster)?

Actually, now that I think about it, had it been Earth-X Jay Garrick played by John Wesley Shipp, that would have been deliciously gutwrenching for Barry, what with Joe's line to Barry about wishing Barry's parents had been there to see the wedding.

I think the concept of being educated and being able to educate is something that more people need more of in their lives.

No, we don't all know everything but we should spread and share that what we do know.

If I'm consistently misspelling a word, I would want and expect people to correct me as should I imagine all decent people who know the value of good literacy.

Its just arrogant laziness to know you're spelling a word incorrectly and not correct yourself or ignore the advice when people do tell you how to spell a word correctly.

Well, the real reason is that they need to keep some of the cast separate in order to film different parts simultaneously. Evidently Jax mentioned the rest of the team being in the Stone Age, which I missed.

Ray not being invited a a big omission, I choose to believe that Mick just stole his invitation.

That reveal fell flat with me too, I think it would've been simpler to make him Harrison Wells-X with speed powers.

Also, Cavanagh seems to have changed his approach to the character for some reason. His appearance as Thawne last week was note-perfect, but here he seems to be channeling Matt Letscher's broader take. (I've finally warmed up to Letscher as Thawne, but I think he works better on Legends where everything is so much broader as well.)

Barry-X is in the Freedom Fighters web cartoon, which I imagine is likely set before this crossover (given that both seasons of Vixen were set when their scripts were written, not when they aired). I figure he probably dies during that, explaining his absence here.

Yeah, this crossover was really ambitious, and it did accomplish a lot, but the cast (intermittent) absences were really glaring.

I don't think the lipstick was different enough. They should have dyed her hair black or something. But alas, budget and time.

Then her bit of dialogue about being blonde/etc wouldn't have worked, though. She was hot compared to regular Supergirl's more cutesy style, but... she's a goddamn Nazi.

I really enjoyed this crossover... I was pretty surprised with how dark they went for Earth-X. This wasn't 'In A Mirror, Darkly' style hamming it up; it was genuinely disturbing. They didn't seem to shy away from anything, which I thought was good. Without getting too political, I'm sure the writers also intended for this to be commentary on the current state of affairs in the real world, as well.

I'm sad to see Professor Stein go, but damned if he didn't get a heroic death.

Wow...  Those last 2 hours were an emotional roller coaster.

  • The concentration camp sequence wasn't exactly "Schindler's List", but it was darker than anything else I can remember from this franchise.
  • That was a great heart-to-heart talk between Sara and Alex.  It didn't really occur to me how much that pairing made sense beyond the surface level until that moment.
  • For some reason, I always like it when they remind us that Felicity is a bottle blonde.
  • Russell Tovey's American accent ain't bad, certainly better than some "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" alumni.
  • I was not expecting Professor Stein to go out like this, but it gave the crossover some real weight and Victor Garber some meaty material for his exit.  Well done :(
  • I literally screamed when Kara said, "General, would you care to step outside?"
  • I'm sad that, based on Wentworth Miller's comments on social media, he seems to be done playing Snart.  As always, he made the most of every scene he had here, and I'd like to see where Leo ends up next.
  • Loved seeing Diggle's joy at getting to marry off his best friends :)  (How does he know Barry and Iris's full names?)
  • Someone else pointed out that the double wedding doesn't just close the loop on the drama from the first hour, it closes the loop on the very first Arrow/Flash crossover, which ended with these same 4 people and Oliver telling Barry that guys like them don't get the girl.

I do have one quibble that The Ray was just kinda there, he didn't make a huge impact for me.  I'll still check out his animated series though.  (Since it was brought up earlier, I think it's safe to say that that trailer is officially out of continuity, just like Barry fighting a giant robot alongside the Legends.)

All in all though, I think this event was a resounding success.  I can't even imagine how they'll top this next year.

Haven't watched the 2nd half, but it's definitely better than last year's crossovers.

I think I'd enjoy this more if I didn't only watch Supergirl, but it's too late to bother with the other shows at this point.

I'd highly recommend catching up on Legends of Tomorrow. It only does 16/17 episode seasons, so there's less of a backlog, and at this point- for me at least - it's easily the best of the four shows.

I will warn that it doesn't quite hit its groove until season 2, though.

Yeah, Captain Cold and Heat Wave are basically live-action cartoon characters and it's amazing.

Legends definitely has the strongest ensemble of the shows, I'd say. They gel together brilliantly as this big daft superpowered happy family, especially after the cast reshuffle for season 2.
