I really wonder what the next movie will be. It sort of has to involve a massive reset button of some kind, because surely they have to fight Thanos; but why would he give a crap and how would it help? He won, it's over. He can ride off into the sunset. Chasing after him to go "I have to punch you still!" doesn't achieve anything at this point.

It wasn't explained, nor even mentioned by any character, however it's heavily implied that the damage is the result of channeling all six stones simultaneously at (presumably) very near their full power. If you look closely at Thanos in scenes post-Snap, you'll also see that the skin on his left arm is singed, extending up to his chest and shoulder.

My guess for the next film?
Remaining heroes time travel to gather an army of themselves from the past to assault thanos and/or try to change things so he doesn't ever get them all. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if there's some sort of play where they try to trick him, which happens several times in the original series.
-ZacWilliam, I'm also expecting a visit to the future to set up what ever is gonna slow build through the background of the next decade of films
Or the proverbial ailerons of Titanium Moosebots?

Tony Stark manages to save Spider-Man from Thanos' snap of doom, and finds another ally in the form of the crafty Hellcat, and a skateboarding young boy who calls himself "Speedy". However, can these heroes save the cosmos by snatching the Infinity Gauntlet away from Thanos before he can escape in his Thanos-copter?

I figure there's a fifty-fifty chance that some characters who didn't die as a result of the Snap get resurrected...but I'd be shocked and amazed if Steve Rogers makes it through the next film.
