@  TheMightyMol... : (19 October 2019 - 06:40 AM)

What's it like to have management that's willing to listen to things they don't want to hear? I've never seen that.

@  Nevermore : (19 October 2019 - 04:41 AM)

I manage to argue within the company's own internal logic and point out the flaws, shortcomings and discrepancies between "official company policy" and "everyday company reality".

@  Nevermore : (19 October 2019 - 04:40 AM)

Many of my coworkers are scared to even talk to managers. I often discuss company matters with them I disagree with, and it isn't a rare occurrence that they say "yeah, you're right..."

@  Nevermore : (19 October 2019 - 04:38 AM)

I know how to watch my tone, and I prefer to keep things straightforward and factual, never to attack the person, always the problem itself.

@  Nevermore : (19 October 2019 - 04:37 AM)

The good thing for me is ever since a minor hiccup many years ago when I was still non-permanent, I've always managed to along just fine with my various superiors (I've been through over a dozen already). And that's despite my outspokenness, my blunt honesty and my oftentimes harsh criticism.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (18 October 2019 - 04:28 PM)

@  Maximus Ambus : (18 October 2019 - 04:16 PM)

Amazon in the US has pretty good benefits, though, and even the temp workers had forty hours a week to start with. Even with minimum wage, that's pretty good pay.

@  Nevermore : (18 October 2019 - 01:20 AM)

Oh, the turnover rates are high here as well.

@  TM2-Megatron : (17 October 2019 - 09:45 PM)

Amazon.com and .ca, on the other hand, can be pretty terrible. I know from your squawkbox posts that you guys have your issues with Amazon over there, although you're lucky to have stronger government regulations and a union there. I gather the warehouse workers in the USA and Canada have it pretty crappy, with very high turnover, close to minimum wage pay, and no unions

@  TM2-Megatron : (17 October 2019 - 09:38 PM)

Amazon.de doesn't really have the same issue. I've ordered from them (and UK, FR, IT and JP) several times, and their packaging is much better

@  Nevermore : (17 October 2019 - 05:22 PM)

I'm not sure how it works on the customer's end. As packers, we sometimes have items that are flagged as "overwrap", which means we absolutely have to put them into a box even if they're already in pretty sturdy manufacturer packaging.

@  TM2-Megatron : (17 October 2019 - 03:05 PM)

Yeah, I really do wish amazon had an option to upgrade packaging for an extra buck or something. I hate their bubble mailers

@  Benbot : (17 October 2019 - 07:17 AM)

That's how it works. I just hope my order from Amazon doesn't arrive crushed because they idiotically stuffed it in an envelope.

@  Telly : (16 October 2019 - 10:48 PM)

my walmart is acting true to form. as soon as mirage arrives from amazon, my walmart gets his entire wave in after months of having wave 1 clogging the pegs....

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 October 2019 - 10:01 PM)

I've still got the age-old Rhino sets

@  Telly : (14 October 2019 - 09:09 PM)

i didnt find that at any of the ones around here, so i had to settle for seasons 1 and 2 of duckman for $3

@  Steevy Maximus : (14 October 2019 - 07:45 PM)

Heck, I got the season 2/3 set for $3 (?) from a Dollar General discount bin :p

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 October 2019 - 07:29 PM)

The series is pretty cheap on DVD, too, which at least will work internet or no. The complete series set seems to be OOP, but there's a Season 1 set as well as a combined 2 & 3 set.

Sad to see Slott's run end. He did quite well with the time he had. Part of me thinks he might of not wanted to rewind to Pete being the down on his luck normal joe again.

I think Dan Slott's delivered some of the best Spider-Man in decades, but I also do think he's hung in there a little longer than necessary. Not "Bendis staying on the Avengers after Siege" unnecessary, he's delivered good material and really sold the "Parker Industries" idea without compromising the heart of the character, but it does feel like the time is really nigh for him to move on and I'm glad he's doing so. His first true Peter-as-Spidey versus Norman-as-Goblin saga will be a strong one to go out on, and if his next project can be another Silver Surfer quality book, we'll be the richer for it.

Mad as heck about Hawkeye, though, that's literally one of the best things Marvel is publishing right now.

Gwenpool, I think we already knew was coming. America... I can't say I'm upset, since it basically threw out everything I liked about the character, but it's a shame for those that liked it.

I dropped Captain Marvel once it became evident that Stohl wasn't getting to write "misanthropic human disaster Carol Danvers" whether she wanted to or not. I'm a little surprised that it's still going if GOTG isn't, honestly.

I'm sad to see Gwenpool go, she was actually fun.

The rest? I can live without. Gen X was fun though.

Gen X with that legacy title only having one or two of the legacy team members until near the end pretty much killed it I think.I would have liked more of the old team reuniting than Quentin Quire and the weird mutant crew. Oh well time for someone else to get stuck with Quire now.

Finally made it up to the local comic shop for the first time in a few months.

The cancelled comics? Weren't even being stocked anyway.

They had four shelves of lenticular covers and four shelves of assorted $1 issues though.

Picked up the first four issues of "Punisher: The Platoon". I've heard good things about it, so I decided to splurge and take that risk.

Sounds like Charles Soule and Saladin Ahmed have both referenced upcoming Marvel projects, and I can't help but shake my head and wonder why these weren't ready to announce before they had to put out solicitations for last month. (Which is where everyone learned of the big slate of cancellations)

Seems to me like Cebulski is pretty much making 15,000 physical copies the official line in the sand, with anything that dips below it being in danger of cancellation.

My question though is if he's simply looking at sales figures, or if he's asking questions as to why those sales figures are as they are. I'd hope the latter, as that would help him figure out a better strategy to keep titles from dropping that low in the first place.

Looking at the numbers for November, She-Hulk was over 36,000 so that's an outlier. Also, to drop Generation X and Gwenpool, who were both above 14,000 while a title like Ms. Marvel hangs at 15k just seems petty.

Also, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is at 10k, and that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. (At least it better not.)

But if this is accurate:
Monsters Unleashed
Secret Warriors
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
Royals
U.S. Avengers (After No Surrender ends)
Black Bolt

Are all sub 15k and would in theory be on the chopping block.

Also Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel are within spitting distance.

EDIT: Okay, She-Hulk was just "Hulk" in October and sold 16,970; swapping over to the old name and numbering scheme must have boosted its numbers or something.

EDIT2: Oh wait, Secret Warriors hasn't been in solicitations for a couple months now and Royals even longer.

My understanding is books like Squirrel Girl and Ms Marvel sell extremely well both digitally and through Scholastic tpbs to kids neither of which tratitional rankings account for, which is why they remain while books above them on these charts are canceled.

Basically they sell great, just to audiences that these types of numbers don't measure.

-ZacWilliam, Monsters Unleashed is the one that interests me. I really like that book (I'm a few issues behind because I haven't seen an issue on stands recently) but even really liking it (its just kinda a fun old fashioned kinda comic) I expected it to have been canceled by now. Maybe the trades of the Monsters Unleashed event did really well through Scholastic and gave it a foothold in that market before the regular book launched...
